  5. DeLuca-Rainey-Rainey-Bassett is annoyingly strong. Hate it. But also, I’d rather they recruit well so they don’t have to continue stealing guys that other teams have already invested in. So I’ll see the bright side I guess. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. I know this is from a few days ago, but I think there’s a significant chance Keck ends up with the gopher RTC. I think location is a big factor as he wants to be close to home while also driving distance to AWA camps that he will help at, and I think practice partners will be a big factor. McEnelly, Nelson, Hilger, Zillmer, Kemerer, Owen Webster etc. as well as some AWA guys around his weight he’s already close with like Millard, Riddle and Whiting. Crossing my fingers. Would be a loaded room at 174+. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. Re: Mike Mocco, Should I do the thing where I go to the Penn State board and grab the dumbest posts talking crap about Mocco and then extrapolate it to the entire fanbase? Because there's a couple of doozies so far.

  9. I want to just let this year soak in first....enjoyed watching the Masters this weekend. Watching McIlroy sink that last put on 18 and then the very iconic walk to the club house to sign his scorecard.....embracing his friends, wife, daughter and more after 17 Masters and 11 attempts to complete the Grand Slam....the EMOTIONS....wow. This has to be in my top 15 most iconic sports moments/finishes of all-time....one of those was actually the state volleyball championship my daughter's senior year in high school. It's great to be alive in my lifetime to be able to have witnessed the likes of Nicklaus, Woods, Ali, Jordan, S. Williams, Sampras, Federer, Djokovic, Nadal, Brady....enough of those guys.....Medved, Belaglozov, B. Satiev, Tediashvili, Saduliev, Fadzaevand more. Add to that all the great music/genres......W. Nelson, Brooks, Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, McIntire (more of those where they came from), then there's the Beatles, Chicago, Journey, Foreigner, Beach Boys, Four Season, Lionel Ritchie, Four Tops, Temptations,....the list goes on and on. Then top it off with attending 46 NCAA Wrestling Championships, 40 in a row, and countless other events, World Cups, World Championships, Big Tens, State tournaments. Great to be alive. Next stop.....I'm going fishing!!

  10. So you're saying there is a non-zero chance of Fishback at VT facing Stewart at NC State? For those that don't follow the ACC this is drama worthy of the Jerry Springer show

  13. Probably the most misspelled award in all of sports, the Gorriaran Award is named for Hall of Famer Manuel Gorriaran, who "is best known for his insistence on the fall as the ultimate goal of amateur wrestling, and for inaugurating an award given at tournaments everywhere, the Gorriaran Trophy for the wrestler scoring the most falls in the least total time." Check out his full NWHOF bio: https://nwhof.org/hall_of_fame/bio/66 Wrestle, Wrestle Wrestle. Twist 'em Like a Pretzel. Iowa State leads all schools with 8 Gorriaran winners. Big Boys On Their Backs The heaviest of weights has been the most prone to the worst of endings. But the keen observer will note that the lion's share of those came from the absolute biggest of the big boys when the weight knew no bounds. So maybe things are different now? And indeed they are. While 285 still leads the way, 165 is close behind with just one fewer winner (6 vs 5). It is pretty wild that for the first 38 years of the award it was almost a 50/50 proposition that the pinfall leader was also the scale leader. Backside Backsides It is probably no surprise that the 3rd place winner is the most common source of Gorriaran glory given the extra matches. Love Me Two Times It is no surprise that the original pinfaller himself was also the first to win the award twice. But how about Nebraska's Gary Albright? He won as a true freshman, and then again as a redshirt senior. Most Gorriaran-est Say that ten times fast. Sorted by pinfalls, place and year.

  19. And that's fine, I'm not involving myself in your guy's personal dispute. I'm focused on the two individuals referenced here who are currently wallowing in an El Salvadoran prison after having their due process rights violated. I just wanted to clarify it doesn't really matter what either of your opinions are on the court orders, I disagree with court orders all the time; that doesn't mean I get to ignore them.

  26. So, you didn't read the lawfare article? Among other things, the informant was quoted (and not available for cross-examination) by a detective (who was also not available for cross-section) who was later suspended. These are the results of the extreme trust put in the testimony of law enforcement. https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.mdd.578815/gov.uscourts.mdd.578815.1.1_3.pdf Judge ordered him to not be deported. Judge allowed him to be released without bail. Government did not object (because he was not deemed a threat), thus this ruling was final.

  29. Come on RV...you have said this multiple times and you know it...you are starting to get to total troll levels. By the way, as people have pointed out, doing a simple google search would show you many examples of the anti-Israel "protesters" taking over buildings and blocking access for Jewish students.

  33. What about a scale that is "off a little bit" now? Have there been more forfeits? I remember talking to a high school coach when the rule came in that kids couldn't strip down to weigh in nude. (A crazy practice when you consider it years later) "What if a kid is .1 over?" He couldn't get it through his head that it would all work out. I'm sure he thought there would be ton of forfeits from not allowing teenaged boys to strip nude!

  34. Melton Powe has transferred from Pratt Community College to Iowa State. Last year he faced Minto at an open and kept it close although lost 4-2. He has a good track record from high school. He also happens to be a brother of Isaiah Powe (Chattanooga) and Daishun Powe (Northern Colorado) who are both in the portal. Wonder if brothers will join him at Iowa State

  37. Yeah, we can extrapolate that he meant choir boys were next to be ICE'd from their pews and sent to El Salvador. Natural conclusion from the context of the conversation. Because in a discussion of the handling of illegal aliens and ruthless gang members theree was not an utterance of two letters and a prime number. So, American citizen Choir Boys and Mormon about to go on mission, and Americans of Asian descent with 1550 SAT scores beware. "MS 13" wasn't heard so, naturally, the fact that you have ever done anything against the law nor has anything like this ever happened (giving Roosevelt a pass for imprisoning Americans of Japanese descent in WWII) nor imagined nor stated by any politician is about to happen. He never said MS 13.

  38. By rule Ferrari does not qualify. To get a hardship waiver for an injury: The injury or illness occurs before the first contest or date of competition of the second half of the playing season. In wrestling the first date of competition of the second half is defined as the 10th competition date for the team. Ferrari was 10-0 with all of his 10 coming in dual meets, the last of which was January 23. This was the eleventh competition date for the team. The injury or illness occurs when the student-athlete has not participated in more than three contests or dates of competition or 30 percent of the maximum number of contests or dates of competition of the playing season. The maximum number for wrestling is defined as 17 and the 30% provision is defined as 6 in the rules. He is clearly over the 30% provision. All that said, we have seen the NCAA lose a lot of court cases on eligibility issues, so who knows. But as the rule is written, he does not qualify for a medical redshirt, and he is not particularly close to the cut offs. Sparks only used 4 competition dates in 2022. The last was the Southern Scuffle, which was Minnesota's 7th competition. Sparks was under 6 competition dates (30%) and before the first date of competition of the second half (11th date of competition).

"You must send your maniac criminal back to the USA." "Uh, no. This citizen criminal of our country will stay here and face our judicial system." Injunct this!
