  1. I think Brands saw the thread from last year asking which two teams combined could beat PSU and he decided to find out.

  2. I think I'll draw big conclusions now. I don't get why everyone should wait until after the fact to draw conclusions. We aren't a bunch of analysts going over past data. We are message board fans commenting on what's happening right now. This would be a really boring place if we all just waited until after the season to have any conclusions.

  4. I foresee David Taylor succeeding in having his wrestlers ready for March much in the way that Cael does. Hamiti looked so great in the tech fall against the #4 guy from Virginia Tech at the weight class. If he continues rolling, things will be extremely interesting in March. If he's rolling, he could take out both of these guys.

  5. I think we will find that if this case is not dismissed by Judge Merchan, then a appellate court in NY will throw it out for speciousness. Which is what we have been saying all along. You can't have a felony conviction if you don't even have an indictment of specific charges. The specific charges in the indictment that Bragg brought was "other crimes". I have detailed this a number of times. Can you be a little more specific Bragg? Even the judge at the end in the instructions to the jury said you can find he is guilty of 3 different crimes. You don't have to be unanimous on the specific crime, just be unanimous that he is guilty of something and that is good enough. You just don't have this in a felony case or any other case for that matter unless the defendant is Donald Trump. In fact the case where he was found liable for sexual misconduct, the lady couldn't even remember when the alleged misconduct took place. But in Trump's case, that is enough to have a court case and find him liable. That one will also be thrown out I believe. And then there is the no crime case that was brought against Trump and he now owes 450 million dollars to NY. No one was harmed, everyone was paid what was owed, and there was not victim. But none of that matters as long as the defendant is Donald Trump. I have to say if they went after Biden like this I would laugh but know that it was a farce. You guys on the left can't even go there. Blinders on. Rational thought eviscerated. Mindless sheep. It is a sad state to be in for sure mspart

  10. I could absolutely be wrong, but I have been a fan of Ok St for a long time, and John Smith is one of my favorite wrestlers and guys to listen to talk about wrestling of all time. But I haven't seen this kind of a pace and pursuit of scores across the roster in the last ten+ years. They have had better teams, but even then they didn't pursue scores the way the guys seemed to tonight. That could be because it's a fresh room with a new coach, and that could be a temporary bump (we see bad NFL teams surge under interim coaches due to culture change). But the fun of fandom is speculation, and I don't think you could have hoped for a better first month and a half as an Okie St fan.

  15. I can’t tell if you’re being serious or not. Do you really not know that there are differences in center of mass, organs, bone density, neck musculature, etc. between men and women? They sit closer to the steering wheel/dashboard. They often have more bent legs. Physics can and will do very different things to a 6’ tall male and a 5’ woman. Crash simulations that don’t attempt to account for 50.whatever percent of the population are great for men, not so great for women. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  17. I forget who was in an interview recently but they said something about how they practice less at PSU than a lot of schools, and they all talk about how they just have fun wrestling. If you think DT is in there grinding these guys early and is going to burn them out by march, that would go against everything he learned from his mentor/coach.

  19. A rematch would be interesting because they both had major takeaways: 1) Fish needs to stop going to his own back and generally thinking more about risk management when he is wrestling 2) Hipolito needs more conditioning because he died about halfway through the third period

  20. "Oklahoma State’s latest move in the race for a wrestling prodigy is sending shockwaves through the NCAA landscape. With the clock ticking on one of the most highly anticipated recruitment decisions in recent memory, the stakes have never been higher. This isn’t just about bringing in a top recruit; it’s about making a statement. A $17,000 investment, aimed at securing Bo Bassett—the 19-year-old wrestler whose every move has been tracked by fans and analysts alike—has left college wrestling fans on the edge of their seats. Bassett has spent months teasing his choice on social media, building up excitement around his recruitment journey. At the center of it all is a question: Where will he go? With over 40 teammates in tow, Bassett is headed to Stillwater, Oklahoma, for the National Duals, a competition that could influence his final decision. But this visit is more than just a typical recruiting pitch. Oklahoma State is covering the costs of flights for Bassett and his entire group—$17,000 worth of investment in what could be a game-changing move for the program. For Bassett, the pressure is mounting. After narrowing down his list of colleges from 80 to just a few, his decision is looming large. Programs like Penn State, Iowa, and Ohio State have all thrown their hats in the ring, but Bassett has made it clear he’s not rushing into anything. He’s looking for a place to call home, a place where he can build his legacy. The suspense is palpable, and fans are hanging on every social media post, wondering if this weekend in Stillwater will finally push him to make a choice. Bassett is more than just a wrestler; he’s a generational talent with the potential to reshape any program he joins. With schools pulling out all the stops, it’s clear that his decision will have ripple effects not only on the mat but in the very culture of NCAA wrestling. Whatever the outcome, one thing is for sure—Bo Bassett’s next move will change the game."

  23. There are 10 teams with 10 ranked wrestlers in at least one of the ranking services (6 have 10 in all 3). But not all are alike. It is wild that Pitt has ten ranked wrestlers in Flo this week, but they will do well to scratch out 1 AA with their highest ranked wrestler at 11. So who can make a run at Minnesota? Remember that based on seeds The Golden Gophers only had a 0.78% chance of finishing with 10 AAs. Chances of All 10 AAs

  25. I wondered the same thing. I think it could be a case of once that levee breaks between two schools, and there is a major underlying cause (the loss of RTC and less promising financial situation of ASU), the original transfers become a link to refer and help convince their former teammates to join them. That's my guess, but no clue. Another outside theory is that they identified wrestlers that insist on being taller than their head coach.

  32. After tonight's dominating win over VT it looks like the Coach Taylor message is having an impact. In the past have we seen OSU come out in a dual like this and look sluggish, tired, and guys looking complacent to just get out of the building with a win. From 125-285 every single guy went out and wrestled hard. Guys were pushing for majors and techs with short time in the third period rather than being satisfied with their lead. Even Amine scored a takedown in the third and was pushing for another in short time. It looks like an OSU team that is wrestling with a different mindset than they have years. Ok St fans must be excited. If they get used to wrestling with this kind of mindset, they will be some very tough outs come march.

  34. Hendrickson went to OSO because of Taylor. He was considering it, but Taylor's first call to an athlete was to Hendrickson. I forget which of the other three (Fish/Amine/Hamiti) but one of them cited Taylor as well. So half were going there already - the other half weren't.

  36. Given the logjam at a bunch of weights at PSU it sure seems likely. And if, as we suspect, the argument is that the PSU room prepares you for wrestling beyond college, then OSU has begun addressing that too.

  41. Selection criteria and seeding criteria: Head-to-head competition: 25% Quality wins: 20% Coaches ranking: 15% Results against common opponents: 10% RPI (Ratings Percentage Index): 10% Win Percentage: 10% Qualifying event placement: 10% With RPI, you benefit much more than you're hurt from wrestling a very high win percentage guy like Hendrickson (75% of RPI is opponents' results). But you're obviously hurt by the win percentage damage. In most cases, it makes sense to wrestle the big matches, though, because those quality wins matter so much (wins over guys who earned an allocation). Against a guy like Hendrickson where you'll almost certainly lose, it's about a wash. Against anyone even slightly beatable, you have to chase those quality wins.

  42. The Sheridan Invitational is set for Friday, December 20th beginning at 10AM. All action can be seen on FloWrestling. The list of teams includes Brown, Drexel, Franklin & Marshall, Indiana, Lehigh, Rutgers, and Virginia. Below is a quick breakdown of each weight 125: The highest ranked wrestler here is Lehigh’s Sheldon Seymour. Sitting at #15 nationally, we may see him square off with Indiana’s Jacob Moran. Moran (#22 in the rankings) has one loss on the season to Caleb Smith of Nebraska. Smith’s current ranking is #5, and Moran’s loss was by a single point. If these two end up wrestling, it will be a great opportunity for either wrestler to gain momentum into the new year. Indiana’s Blaine Frazier and F&M’s Jack Parker will be looking for quality wins as well. Below are the remaining entries. Jared Brunner (Brown) Charlie Colantonio (Franklin & Marshall) Blaine Frazier (Indiana) James Garcia (Franklin & Marshall) Vincent Gioffre (Franklin & Marshall) Ejiro Montoya (Franklin & Marshall) Jacob Moran (Indiana) Jackson Parker (Franklin & Marshall) Anthony Rossi (Virginia) Sheldon Seymour (Lehigh) Ethan Smith (Lehigh) Logan Wadle (Lehigh) 133: We will see top-ranked Ryan Crookham take the mat again. He’s 2-0 on the year thus far. Also expected to wrestle is Indiana’s 27th ranked Angelo Rini. He’s a grad transfer from Columbia. Gable Porter of Virginia is in the rankings also. He currently claims the 33rd spot with a 4-1 record. Mason Leiphart from F&M will be a tough out for anyone with his stingy defense and great top wrestling. A new face at this weight is Brown’s Michael Joyce. His teammate, Hunter Adrian, has been an EIWA place winner in the past. He was an NCAA qualifier for the Bears last season at 125lbs. It appears Brown has some options at this weight class. Expect to see guys like Hildebrandt of Drexel, Kyle Montaperto, and Logan Frazier of Indiana to be in the mix to win some matches. Hunter Adrian (Brown) Ryan Crookham (Lehigh) Logan Frazier (Indiana) John Hildebrandt (Drexel) Michael Joyce (Brown) Mason Leiphart (Franklin & Marshall) Kyle Montaperto (Virginia) Gable Porter (Virginia) Angelo Rini (Indiana) Chandler Sewell (Drexel) 141: This weight class does not have the ranked wrestlers as the previous one discussed. Of all entries, only one is a previous NCAA qualifier – Dylan Cedeno of Virginia. He qualified back in 2022. He spent last season at 157lbs, now back down to the 141lb weight class. Indiana’s Henry Porter appears to be a favorite. Carter Bailey of Lehigh and Pat Phillips (unattached) of F&M will be in the hunt to win matches as well. Joe Fangaro of Rutgers is always in the mix too. Keep an eye on Kresho of F&M. He has been in a lot of close quality matches. Carter Bailey (Lehigh) Malachi Bordovsky (Drexel) Kyren Butler (Virginia) Joey Buttler (Indiana) Dylan Cedeno (Virginia) Brandt Fajerman (Franklin & Marshall) Joe Fongaro( Rutgers) Joey Iamunno (Brown) Bryce Kresho (Franklin & Marshall) Austin McBurney (Brown) Aidan O'Shea (Franklin & Marshall) Lucas Peters (Indiana) Pat Phillips (Franklin & Marshall) Deon Pleasant (Drexel) Henry Porter (Indiana) 149: This may as well be a Lehigh wrestle-off with three of the regulars entered, plus Malyke Hines making the move up to 149lbs – which may or may not be permanent. This multi-season battle will continue with Hines in the mix. Another vital position battle at this weight coming from Brown. Between McMonagle and Mojena, Brown will have a decision to make for the remainder of the season. Michael Cetta of Rutgers was at NCAAs last season and may be a favorite on paper. He, along with Hines and Griffin of Lehigh, are NCAA qualifiers. Expect some fireworks here. Michael Cetta (Rutgers) Kyle Deisley (Franklin & Marshall) Jonathan Fuller (Drexel) Kelvin Griffin (Lehigh) Josh Hillard (Franklin & Marshall) Malyke Hines (Lehigh) Sam McMonagle (Brown) Ethan Mojena (Brown) Drew Munch (Lehigh) Jack Myers (Virginia) Matt Repos (Lehigh) Brandon Sauter (Franklin & Marshall) Aidan Torres (Indiana) Seth Weaver (Franklin & Marshall) 157: Virginia’s Michael Gioffre will look to expand on his 4-1 record on the year. Lehigh’s Logan Rozynski is a true freshman looking to make a name for himself after a close loss to PSU’s fourth-ranked Kasak. On paper, these two will most likely be the top two here. Lehigh’s Gonzalez and Skellenger will remain in contention as well. Chris Arciuolo (Franklin & Marshall) Luke Bender (Franklin & Marshall) Aboubakare Diaby (Drexel) Michael Gioffre (Virginia) Griffin Gonzalez (Lehigh) Jayden Iznaga (Drexel) Jake Neill (Franklin & Marshall) Logan Rozynski (Lehigh) Nick Sanko (Virginia) Jadon Skellenger (Lehigh) Billy Templeton (Franklin & Marshall) 165: Indiana’s Tyler Lillard was ranked in the top 15 to begin the year. It appears he and Lehigh’s Brignola will be the top two contenders at this weight – both are the lone NCAA qualifiers in previous years. Brignola has looked great this year during his redshirt campaign. Gayer of Rutgers has seen some good results this year. Harrison Trahan of Brown will look to improve upon his season last year as the starter. Lehigh’s Lawrence and Federici will be on the hunt for some quality wins as well. Mason Alley (Indiana) Max Brignola (Lehigh-unattached) Dom D'Agostino (Drexel) Michael Duggan (Franklin & Marshall) Dominic Federici (Lehigh) Luke Gayer (Rutgers) Thayne Lawrence (Lehigh) Tyler Lillard (Indiana) Makoa Niebel (Franklin & Marshall) Josh Palmucci (Franklin & Marshall) Owen Quinn (Lehigh) Tyler Shea (Franklin & Marshall) Mason Stefanelli (Virginia) Harrison Trahan (Brown) 174: It appears Rylan Rogers of Lehigh is the man to beat, although Contino of Virginia may disagree. We have seen F&M’s Bash and Brown’s Clearie have some nice wins over the years, so expect them to challenge the top two guys. This is a weight class with zero NCAA appearances from the entries. This will make for some fun wrestling. Nick Alvarez (Franklin & Marshall) Noah Bash (Franklin & Marshall) Drew Clearie (Brown) Rocco Contino (Virginia) Michael Fuccilli (Franklin & Marshall) Liam Gil-Swiger (Lehigh) Michael Murphy (Virginia) Conner O’Donnell (Brown) Rylan Rogers (Lehigh) Nick South (Indiana) Dominic Wheatley (Franklin & Marshall) 184: Brian Soldano of Rutgers has been in the rankings this season. He’s also the lone wrestler listed to compete at NCAAs in the past. Lehigh’s Caden Rogers was a highly touted recruit. He’s looking for some consistency while trying to stay healthy. Other than these two, the remainder of the entrants are looking for some matches to help excel them into the starting lineup for their respective teams. Both of Brown’s participants may be vying for the starting role in preparation for the upcoming dual meet part of the schedule. Jake Allred (Franklin & Marshall) Griffin Gammell (Virginia) Jack Lesher (Virginia) Nick Olivieri (Brown) Justin Phillips (Virginia) Andrew Reall (Brown) George Rhodes (Drexel) Caden Rogers (Lehigh) Brian Soldano (Rutgers) Leo Varga (Franklin & Marshall) Ethan Wilson (Drexel) 197: Here is another weight class with no NCAA appearances. Sollars of Indiana has wrestled well this year. He should be one of the top guys here. JT Davis of Lehigh has looked good when he makes an appearance. PJ Casale was a high school prospect who committed to Lehigh and is now at Rutgers. It will be great to see how he stacks up against this field. Virginia may have some answers after this event as both Shulaw and Weatherspoon have both wrestled in duals. Brown has not had a dual this season, but with two entrants here, it may help clarify who will have the edge for this weight class moving forward. PJ Casale (Rutgers) JT Davis (Lehigh) Justin Griffith (Drexel) Alex Hamrick (Brown) Caleb Marzolino (Indiana) RJ Moore (Franklin & Marshall) Hadyn Packer (Rutgers) Dan Rella Jr (Drexel) Thomas Sandoval (Brown) Max Shulaw (Virginia) Gabe Sollars (Indiana) Ethan Weatherspoon (Virginia) 285: Jacob Bullock of Indiana comes into the event ranked 23rd in the nation. He’s the heavy favorite here. Drexel and F&M each have three wrestlers competing. It will be interesting to see who emerges to challenge Bullock. *Lehigh’s second-semester transfer in Owen Trephan is still potentially on track to compete. If he competes, he may be the favorite with a #9 ranking in the country. Lehigh is in the process of getting him eligible to compete. Jacob Bullock (Indiana) Braden Ewing (Brown) Brody Kline (Franklin & Marshall) Quincy Long (Franklin & Marshall) Nick Pavlechko (Indiana) Dominic Petracci (Drexel) Jake Rickett (Franklin & Marshall) Cooper Rudolph (Virginia) Tanner Updegraff (Drexel) Shane Whitney (Drexel)
