  1. If there were several then it should be easy to put names and direct quotes with the accusations. I'm fine with him stepping aside but after a 4+ year witch hunt some folks just don't believe the hunters.

  2. This is hilarious. I have been in a couple potentially life and death situations, one involving a firearm and one where I had a strong reason to believe a firearm was about to be drawn. Overall, I am happy with how I reacted in those situations including verbally removing a potential shooter to a location away from others and to where I was the only one in danger of being harmed. I talked him down and he ended up being committed to a facility. That was 25 years ago. I know how I handled it then, and am proud of it. I am no way certain how I would handle the exact situation today. You remind me of my supervisor who is 100% certain how she would handle an active shooter situation in my place of employment. 99% of us can talk a big game about such situations, but we don't know what we will do when the s____ hits the fan. Myself included.

  3. Did Penny ever say he felt uncomfortable? Do you have AI coming up with this stuff or is this really you?

  4. It does seem like a simple idea to just keep it all together and think why even do that, but I can understand that in the moment the adrenaline is going and emotions are high. I once tossed my mouthpiece of all things to my coach after state finals one year, he probably would’ve preferred the headgear.

  10. I agree with most on this board who believe the wrong call was made. I asked the wrong question last time, and I was mistaken as to the dual winner. Nazareth wins on tiebreaker criteria "a." That is ROUGH!

  11. But he was in a situation similar, but not the same, and he knows how he would act and knows he wouldn't get arrested because he would act perfectly, and he can't understand how everyone else in the world, even in different situations than he has been in, doesn't act exactly like him. And oh yeah, he got pulled over by a cop once so knows exactly how cops should act in every situation, and clearly the cops in this situation didn't act the way he would have acted if he was them.

  12. How is this allowed, in Wi most refs will not ref matches with the school they went to or the town they live in. I've seen it at STATE a lot where it was their turn in the rotation, but they stepped aside due to the conflict.

  14. This is a ridiculous and wrong call by the ref.

  15. I guess you’ve seen this story on TV/SM, so you were able to do a better assessment of the situation and his threat level, than the witnesses who were there and testified in court. I mean, you do have that experience of the grocery store guy talking to himself…

  16. I wrestled against both of these teams growing up. The referee was a former state champ from the team from Nazareth (the team he made the call in favor of) - which makes it extra shady

  17. Obviously he felt uncomfortable enough to put him in a choke from behind and hold on to it long enough to kill him. If he had been attacked or threatened, then I could see it being justified, but it really wasn't. In a situation like that people who are acting crazy or yelling things are usually either having some kind of mental health issues or they want attention or something. I was in the grocery store a few months ago and the clerk at the self checkout started talking to himself saying some odd things and punched the ground. I think I showed remarkable restraint by not choking him to death because he was making me feel uncomfortable. The first thing you do, or if you don't you should, is assess the situation. You should be able to determine if somebody poses an actual threat pretty quickly. Calculate the risk of what action you're going to take. If you have to get into a physical confrontation, be ready to get hurt or hope that if this person uses drugs they don't have anything on them that could poke or stab you, they won't bite you or something else like that. Once you do that, then take appropriate action, which is usually letting the authorities know. NYC has transit police who deal with this. So physically confronting somebody who is having a bad day and talking crazy is something that isn't advisable. For a variety of reasons. The sad part is people are cheering this guy who essentially got away with homicide and treating him like a hero.

  21. okay that makes way more sense if you're using butter. I think I might prefer the way you're saying. But without butter, the frosting is nice for just a little bit of something that's not completely dried out

  23. Thursday night action (unfortunately untelevised) with Dyson Dunham of VMI taking down Chad Bellis of App State 7-3. Bellis is ranked 39th by wrestlestat and has a win over Brett Ungar this year while Dunham is ranked 107th and his previous best win was Logan Heil (112th on WS).

  26. Lots of things can happen between now and actually getting on campus to wrestle for a lot of high school kids. I wasn’t aware of the LR news, but hopefully as you said Mizzou is their final destination. I couldn’t imagine the recruiting process for these kids. Tough decision for any 17-18 yr old kids. If I was in their shoes being excited, I might have committed to the first team to offer me as well

  27. I know you didn't ask me, but I'm also curious in MPhil's answer. Vinny Kilkeary and Brendan McCrone: great problem to have - both have AA potential. Kilkeary seems to be on trajectory for lifelong 125 while McCrone seems to have a bit more length on him with a possibility to eventually go 133. 133: Davino and Bouzakis are both studs, but may as well use the redshirt while you got it if Davino is okay with that 157: I think Gallagher is fighting for his life to maintain the spot but he's doing well so far. Cannon is biting at his heels. 165: I like watching Sammy because of the comeback story, but it wouldn't surprise me if he loses to Hepner in his current state

  28. MPhillips - who is the best 57 in the room and who is the best 65 in the room according to your sources? I am not sure if I could say the best 125, 133, 157 and 165 weights are. I think for sure 141, 149, 197 and 285 are crystal clear, 174 I have for Carson and 184 would be Rocco if he was wrestling - I think?

  29. I disagree with the boldfaced. Most people have wrestled on a few different teams over their life - some more positive experiences than others - and that typically impacts the feeling of loyalty to that school. Winning states indicates the relationship was likely positive and he has a far greater inclination to be biased in favor of his former team in that case. Its not the major detail, but it is quite relevant.

  30. We sure he can beat Gallagher out for the spot? I'm not dogging on Sasso in any way. Rooting for him as much as the next guy. But let's be honest, his best win is Derek Fields (who's ranked #38 by WS) and he has not looked like his old self at any point this season.

  36. Libs and lefties can reduce human breathing by 50% right now! They have the power and do not need conservatives to do anything nor enact any legislation or regulations anywhere. If they would simply start holding their breaths until Flux Capacitors and Mr Fusions are mandated (which will lead to their creation, of course) then they can breathe safely again. You know, for the health of the planet.

  38. The rule was misapplied. The ref should probably not be officiating his alma mater, but his status as a state champ isn't relevant. How was he the rest of the meet? The good thing is: the misapplied headgear toss caught on film, is much easier to rectify than a set of backpoints or a takedown. Kids should probably keep their headgear on and straps up until off the mat. Prevents the ref from making a lot of bad/controversial calls. And what did EASTON do to get banged for a point? That couldn't have been a good scene either... that also cost Easton the dual.

  45. Jagger is my guy. he's a great dude and a wrestling fan thru and thru. i found him humorous on social media so i asked him to give it a whirl. it's not for everyone, but some people loved it. had a niche to it. but he has to take a hiatus to focus on some family stuff. anyway - that's why I bought intermat - to give people a chance to write and to be involved in what we love whether it's someone looking to start a career in writing of some sort or just as a hobby or to chat here on the message boards. i'm glad Jagger got to do it.
