Having wrestled there in the 2000's, I don't recall anyone on the team proclaiming that and certainly none of the guys on the team were beating their chest in pride about a dual meet streak, let alone using it as proof that it somehow made us a better team. Maybe some overzealous parents or fans thought so on keyboards back then. We had teams go to Beast, Ironman, and a good portion of the team went to Fargo each year. I think our teams national rankings in those years mirrored the results we achieved from those and other large tournaments. Would all 14 guys start at the top teams in the country? Yeah, of course not. We had a lot more self awareness than you are projecting.

I can't remember the last time we had so many top tier matches this early in the season! What a kick off and entertaining beginning of the season for us fans. At the same time, I wonder how much stock we have in the results we are seeing the past couple weeks versus where everyone is peaking for in March. For example, I remember Metcalf teching Caldwell at the all star classic and then Caldwell coming back to win NCAAs. I am curios if anyone has some picks of matches that they think will flip in the next 12-14 weeks.

Plays a mean game of FIFA, I remember being at his house back in high school when someone beat him at it. It was late and we were ready to go home. I’ll never forget his response: “We play until we get this right.”

I agree Vito did not look like the top tier contender that he is, and I agree it is a bright spot for the future for the US internationally. I do disagree that it doesn't show how good Jax is.

I’ll be happy with/for either, both are really exceptional individuals.

Streaks is a triggering word for some of us that went to high school in Brandon Florida.

A lot of great ones 1-2 punches, but throwing some love to a smaller program in Edinboro, Aaron Schopp and Mitchell Port were pretty dang good.

Most likely not me looking up 50+ years of NCAA brackets! I'll say it is pretty cool to see dozens of names pop up again over and over through the decades and continuing today, whether it be brothers, cousins and nephews. There really are some "wrestling royalty" families out there.
