Minnesota is a better dual team as they don’t have anyone who will get bonuses regularly. Gable should get 1st with a lot of bonus. I sadly see a lot of low AA types. I see Flynn, Wells, Vombaur, Askey, McEnelly and Salazar as guys who unless multiple injuries won’t make the finals but all likely will place 5-R12. I hope Sparks can stay healthy and post a R12-R16 result along with Whiting who I project to do better as the season goes with the cut. If MN can get Gable to win and 6 other AA’s and contributions from Sparks, Whiting and Roberts we can take 2nd3 points

If people are interested, and since I miraculously have a free weekend for the first time in ages, I'll run a CKLV fantasy pool. Here are the rules: 1) Select one wrestler per weight class (10 total) 2) Select one unseeded dark horse, at any weight class (1 total) 3) You can only select one wrestler per seed level (you can have one wrestler at each seed 1-10, no limit on lower seeded wrestlers) 4) Scoring will be based on team points 5) If one of your picks scratches, you will automatically get the wrestler that takes over their seed. 6) For this purpose, use pre-seeds for your selections. I don't want to force people to wait to make their picks. 7) Tie-breaker will be dark horse team points Paste your picks below, ideally in a format I can easily copy/paste. I'll put up $20 for the winner. $5 consolation for whoever's dark horse scores the most team points.2 points

Match with Michael Beard should be an early barometer of Barr's chances for AA at 197. Might be the most interesting match of the PSU v Lehigh meet? Interesting youtube video of Barr on the Locked On Nittany Lions channel. A few things of interest from his interview: #1 - He call Starocci the hardest working guy in the room - not clear if he means in the room this year or means since his time in the room. Also, since he is working with upperweights, he may not have full vision into the lower weight guys, including now coach Lee who was chopping wood and carrying water immediately after NCAA title! #2 - Barr is not using vegetarian diet to build up to 197 and admits to eating lots of eggs and beef. He apparently bought a whole cow from the Kasak family farm. This may have the unintended downside of reducing NIL opportunities (for Barr and Kasak) as concerns the Hindu and vegetarian wrestling communities.2 points

Sorted based on projections built from Intermat rankings. Top 20 listed What seems crazy to me is who is not listed. A year after they were the odds on favorite to finish second based on NCAA seeds, NC State is all the way down to 21 this week. And relatedly the All-American projections: I am assuming everyone will want the over on PSU 6.7. Not much I can do there until the freshmen get a few more bouts under their belt and they settle into their likely seed spot.2 points

I know there are 3 arms of allocations and you need to hit 2 but just out of curiosity I was looking at what early allocations forecasts could be since a lot of coaches seem to rank by media rankings so I took the top 29 ranked wrestlers by intermat and allocated a spot to each conference. If a conference didn't have a top 29 wrestler, I took away a spot for the #29 ranked and give it to the unrepresented conference. Seems like a higher number of seniors in the rankings than I would expect but I guess this is kind of the double covid year where kids who entered College in 2020-21 and 2021-22 are both entering their season years assuming they did not redshirt and used the free year in 2021. I guess next year will be another "double" senior class for those who took a COVID year free and the redshirt. Of the top 29 at each weight Seniors - 123 (42.4%) Juniors - 81 (27.9%) Sophomores - 61 (21.0%) Freshman - 25 (8.6%) Top 8 (Projected All-Americans) Seniors - 38 (47.5%) Juniors - 22 (27.5%) Sophomores - 17 (21.3%) Freshman - 3 (3.8%): McEnelly (Minn.), Norma (Stanford), Arnold (Iowa)2 points

Ouch that is right! But that was a friendly and the women weren't serious in this game at all. They were more inspired by helping the self confidence of these younger players, than in taking it to these boys. mspart2 points

It doesn't account for a lot of things. Was simply a quick illustration to demonstrate the gap between PSU and everyone else and pat myself on the back for not sticking my foot in my mouth. There's an embarrassment of riches in Happy Valley these days.2 points

I'm not sure even that would make it a race. PSU is deep, deep. I'm sure @Wrestleknownothing could run some numbers from his vast database, but my guess even if PSU lost Starocci and Haines that their backups, plus the remaining PSU starters, could still score enough to win.* *Now I'm going to look at last year's results to see if that has any foundation in reality. Edit: I looked. If you take Penn State's 2024 results and remove Brooks, Haines, Starocci, Truax, Nagao and Davis...they still total 82 points between Kerk, Bartlett, MM and Kasak. Cornell finished second with 72.5 last year. So without even speculating how many points they may get from Lilledahl, SVN, Barr, hypothetical replacements for Starocci and Haines...PSU is the favorite2 points

Yes exactly this. My apologies, I could've been a little more clear but was typing quickly. Your team should have 11 wrestlers, your wildcard/dark horse must be unseeded and can be at any weight--so all teams will have 2 wrestlers in 1 weight class, and 1 in the other 9.1 point

I never thought Sasso would wrestle again either. I believe he struggles this year and I hope he is able to finish healthy and on the podium. I'm sorry to hear that. I had that once in college. Don't hate me because I'm beautiful...1 point

Tough team. Very interested to see how Sasso does. Best of luck to him. Saw him up close at Midlands last year, and he was still limping around. Bad. Never thought he'd wrestle D1 again. Movie one day? Always interested to see Mendez, Geog and Feldman. That 197 bracket is real tough. They hosed Geog with the #7 seed. If they were gonna screw him, they should've given him the #8 seed so he could make it a short day for Ferrari. The ILLINI have the Cougar Clash same day, so I won't be watching CKLV, but I will be looking for results. Good luck, you awful Buckeye!1 point

I may have misunderstood. I thought I needed #1-10 seeds, and THEN an US. But Seems like half of us took the instructions one way and the other half the other way.1 point

Who here honestly thinks that there is going to be "mass deportations" on day 1?? Who thinks this is even remotely possible logistically? I am pretty sure the new boarder czar said they will be targeting those who have criminal pasts and/or committed crimes while here. In my opinion, this will take most of the 4 years Trump is in office anyway. Especially considering you have idiot mayors and governors who openly admitted to not helping in anyway.1 point

Now why would they change the rules for such an insignificant thing that barely happens and is on nobody's radar? All excused on this thread as evidence to do nothing yet, the NCAA nothing something. Someone or someones is/are talking out of both sides of their mouth. mspart1 point

Yes, they have been coming for a long time as I have noted regarding the plasterers. But never at the level that we have now experienced. You are here to tell me that all of these 11 million illegals are agricultural workers? Naiveté at its best and brightest. mspart1 point

The Rav4 and Prius plug in hybrids are both rated for about 40 miles on the electric engine. I could run exclusively on it for about 90% of my driving. It would mean very little change in my behavior, plugging in at night, and would even have benefits, it's way faster than a standard Rav4. To the extent people are worried about pollution from cars, and climate change, it seems like these are a much easier sale than full electric. I'd consider one of these as my next vehicle way before a full electric even if they had price parity.1 point

I'm suspcious of a positive causal correlation between drinking and weight gain. As a professional alcoholic, I know that if I drink, I drink and abstain from extraneous calorie consumption, I.e. I don't eat. Eating gets in the way of the primary objective, I.e. to get drunk and continue destroying my life. I know that there is more than one way to win the race to the bottom, but fatdrunk is once that I'm not familiar with.1 point

"Dirtbag" - meh, if the shoe fits... Maybe you should read 'Project 2025' before you comment on it as if you are even remotely informed. You believe it is meaningless words written on paper, even as one of the authors is being named to a cabinet position. You act as if nothing can go wrong in the bubble you live in. Even as South Korea has recently declared Martial law over differences between conservative and liberal power. Sending the military in to face off against liberal SK citizens. Sound familiar? It should. Is it a "sky is falling schtick" to think that Russia might just, under the right circumstances, decide controlled tactical nuclear weapons should be used in the context of the Russian/Ukraine war. Or that Iran or NK might just, under similar circumstances, decide to do the same under the context of the current Israeli conflict (or in NK's case, as a pawn of Russia.) These things aren't any kind of schtick. They are very real concerns. The only "sky is falling schtick" I've seen recently is the overhype of the US/Mexico border. In the world picture, that was just a bunch of BS being sold to uninformed voters (and they readily bought into it.) Keep living in your little bubble, dirtbag.1 point

That bolded sentence says they think she held those positions, it doesn’t mean any of those reasons drove why they voted for Trump, especially considering that sentence lists 4 different positions. IMO, the fact that down-ballot races were not as favorable to Republicans as the Presidential race was is evidence the trans issue was not a major factor in people’s votes.1 point

In two person team Martin & Jay finished 3rd in division (7 day 4 hrs) and 4th overall in two person. As I recall the teams ahead of them had sponsors, they were self funded. ~3 years later Martin won the solo masters. He wrote a book on training approach, nutrition etc. I don't recommend the book for Keuter.1 point
