Say what you will about him, but at least Chris Bono never forced his crappy album onto my phone and wouldn't let me delete it.3 points

SMH...my guess is that you are very young and have spent your whole life in academia. I sure hope what you wrote makes you feel so much better about yourself...because other than serving that purpose it is nothing but blow hard, victimhood, virtue signaling. In the REAL world, here is the situation...people are different...people have mental health issues (I know I have them at times)...but everybody has equal rights to pretty much everything regardless of their differences. But what people like you and others can't wrap your head around is that it isn't someone's "right" to compete against girls just because they feel they are a girl when in fact they are a biological male. It isn't someone's "right" to use the bathroom at the same time as someone of the opposite biological sex. Etc. As for inferring how I or even a certain group of people actually feel about something, you maybe need to take the victimhood glasses off and just listen to what we/others are saying and quit inferring things that aren't true. I have no problem with anyone who wants to think they are something other than what their biology says they are (that isn't a societal construct by the way). I am 100% support of equal rights for everyone, except criminals of violent crimes. I don't think anyone, or any group of people should be oppressed. I don't think anyone should be judged based on their skin color, race, sexual orientation, etc., but rather judged based on who they are as a person. But here is the kicker...in the real world, there are ALWAYS going to be a-holes who do very bad things...that will never change. We should always be vigilant and stop those people as much as we can, but we also shouldn't play victim at every turn and then blame half the country for those a-holes in society...who more than likely have a genetic defect themselves!3 points

All NCAA sports need their schools.... NIL comes from connections to the schools.... big time donors, business owners, etc. WIthout a connection to the school and sponsored by the school, sports become a separate league or minor league system such as the XFL. I don't think school donors are interested in supporting a minor league team versus their alma mater. Splitting off from the NCAA could be good for schools as well, but it could also have dangerous consequences. If football wants to split off and do their own thing let them do it. Let's see if that money stays there.3 points

Mentor district is The district qualified to after sectionals in that part (Cleveland) of the state. It's been the best district going back decades, to the mid eighties I believe. Located in the NE part of the state. Nicknamed, "The Mentor Meatgrinder."3 points

Why the asterisk? His freshman year would have been a redshirt, but it was the free year, so he wrestled. I don't see any cause for an asterisk.3 points

That is kind of fake stuff slipped in to make Kyle Dake feel like he's having an impact on the staff.3 points

Yes, you absolutely will be seeing more posts from me. We have one child left at home; he chose not to wrestle. We have a blended family, and my boys were wrestlers from a young age. Alas, they are grown and doing amazing things in adulthood; what we miss the most is simply the time with them spent at countless tournaments!!3 points

This would be such a cool dual to be at, NC state has a great following and support it seams! love to see a sold out basketball court with wrestling mats on it2 points

I think he's decided just to focus on the Olympic Qualifier next weekend. A big weight cut two weekends in a row probably isn't going to help him. He isn't ducking Lee. The goal is to qualify. He has a reasonable chance of beating Richards if they are on the same side of the bracket. If not, there is always a last chance Qualifier2 points

Didn't you guy see pyles 12 minute definitive breakdown where he broke news like this is still a rivalry, carr is 2-1 against o-toole, but KOT won at NCAAs so even though Carr has more wins it sort of doesn't matter because wrestlers care about who wins the NCAA tournament and KOT won the tournament but that doesn't mean pyles is counting Carr out, because carr can make adjustments but will KOT make adjustments, and anticipated counter adjustments, and adjustments adjustments all over the place...but pyles won't tell us that they are... Jokes aside I think KOT has continually improved. I think he's gonna run the table and win the hodge.2 points

Yep... as soon as the system is disconnected from the school, it will become like that minor league baseball team that you have in your town that has Balloon Clown night to try to get families to attend. There is a huge difference between a community of people who support a school VS. community support for an amateur minor league team. The financial bottom line will be very ugly. But perhaps that's what needs to happen???? There is a lot to that conversation, but I will leave it there for now. Agree 100% ... attendance is down and what used to be the students competing for spots in a program is now colleges competing for the students. We have friends who have their kids in the local JC doing apprenticeships in their various trade schools. Cheap tuition, 1 class a week for 3 hours, the rest is on the job training full-time while being paid. Good route to go. Lot's of companies are also now doing their own training and apprenticeships. My son in law got accepted into an apprenticeship program with a local air company. He learned to work on Jets, got his certificates and got paid a decent full time wage while doing it. He will be making 6 figures in a couple years. Not bad for a mid-twenties kid to be trained for free, no school loans and making a good wage.2 points

I thought it was military service, I'll have to check again. BTW, these questions are great. Even though I have tons of the data at my disposal, some of these questions don't jump out at me and when you post something that I have to look up, it often leads me down a different rabbit hole. Every educational, not just for me, but for everyone. It's important that we share our "pre-internet" history of the sport, because there's a lot of great stories and situations that unfolded in those times.2 points

Honestly I just remembered I wrote in a different thread that I wouldn’t be shocked if they got 7. But then I did the math and the probability based on my own personal odds was like 0.1%, so I guess that “should” be shocking. But that was a few weeks ago and my odds for Bartlett and Haines would increase since then.2 points

If they get the calls like they did with Max Dean’s title walk, 7 or 8 is definitely possible.2 points

Taylor was simply destroying people - all the time. He seemed like the unstoppable force. Had this huge aura about him. Neither KOT nor Star have that. Dake was a riddle. Often won by a little. But was doing the 4 weight class thing with no redshirt. Still - didn’t have the hype that DT had. Then two super close matches leading up to NCAAs where it seemed so many had predicted DT wins but Dake had found a way each time. Then Taylor destroys to the finals — seemed to be on A game, Dake not so much. All came together for a some real excitement.2 points

Killer O'Toole bumping up to take out the DBOAT while putting his 4th title on the line would be more epic than watching any college Kyle Dake match This is assuming Killer goes undefeated from here on out.2 points

Dake-DT would be bigger if Taylor hadn't gotten stuck in the finals his RSFR year. Yeah yeah, Dake did it at four different weights but KOT prevailed in what was arguably the toughest weight class each year. But we're getting waaaay ahead of ourselves in this debate.2 points

"Mentor District"-Wadsworth, Brecksville, Perrysburg, Elyria, STED... Teams can change. "Cleveland" OH. Guys like Burnett and Darmstadt and others would also make the list. The list of all the college wrestlers from that District would have to be outrageous. Just a list of the STED guys because they're easiest. Age is just a number! Kind of nice being my age....great career/life including 45 NCAA Championships/39 in a row, many Big Tens, World Cups, State tournaments in 2 states, dual and individual, and much more. Uncountable number of clinics both worked and attended. Aches and pains, but would do it all over again.1 point
