  1. Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes. Turn and face the stranger. And let's start by greeting those strangers. Intermat welcomes a host of previously unranked wrestlers to the land of the ranked. Welcome to the club gentlemen. Take a seat anywhere. The meeting will start on March 21st. In addition to the 13 new wrestlers joining the ranked club, there was a pretty good shake up at 125, 174 and 157. This late in the season it is not normal to see this kind of volatility. As expected we have a sixth team expected to finish second. Iowa has rallied hard from a weak sixth to a strong second. And still no Ben Kueter in the 285 rankings, so we have that to look forward to, as well. And finally we get to the race for the big trophy. While better than the post SVN fall out, things keep getting tighter for PSU in spite of the additions of Davis and Kasak to the rankings. That is a testament to how far Iowa has come. It is still an expected runaway victory (48.5 points), but Jimmy will be happy to see that PSU is clearly on a path for misery by late March.

  2. Polls showed that about half of haley’s Iowa voters were democrats and would vote for Biden over Trump.

  3. Of course it's not a controversy. It's just hard to imagine why he was hired. He is painful to listen to. I think Flo underestimated its viewing audience and hired somebody that is better suited as a CNN anchor than an amateur wrestling analyst. He comes off as a sad version of Mr. Rogers looking like Clark Kent in horned-rim glasses.

  4. How is there an entire thread on this, but nobody bothered to even google it to see that this hasn't passed and the Governor is against it?

  6. its cause he's trying to sound profound, which doesn't work when you're talking about something completely obvious or based on a rumor that you refuse to substaniate. The whole purpose of these videos is to remind us that he's supposed to be the voice of flowresting, because, you know, they decided he is.

  8. When I watch FRL I think Pyle does a fine job. He has things to say, points to make, and steers the conversation. Then I watch these clips they put out on Twitter of Pyle sitting in front of the window talking and I find it hard to believe he is the voice of Flo. They seem very poorly thought out, rarely make a strong point making me wonder why I took the time to watch, and the verbal ticks (um, uh, you know) drive me to distraction. It is as if he does not talk on camera for a living.

  9. All worthy candidates but I vote Snyder for dropping his redshirt to beat a guy on an 80+ match winning streak who was 50 pounds heavier in a classic overtime match at Madison Square Garden to cap off a night of great matches.

  14. Ok, but why was there an entire page of posts acting like it had already passed and wondering how California would deal with collecting from people who had moved away? Nobody bothered to even see if the original post was true when it was obviously misinformation. The title of the thread is literally that the wealth tax starts now.

  16. According to my dad, his dad was very inventive on the farm and invented tools to do the job he needed done. I don't know what these would be, and they are gone now. My grandpa died about 20 years before I was born. I only have stories about him. The tools I have of his is a notebook with his writing, a shoulder drill, old style drill bits, hand planers, and measuring tools. My dad kept his old shovel and I have it now. Still works. mspart

  17. Ha. Every one of us got the thread title wrong. I have non-B1G, the other guys have non-2010 wrestlers. At least we are consistent in our inconsistency. Or I could say, "hey they didn't stick to the decade, why should I stick to the conference?" But, no, I did not read the thread title carefully is the real issue.

  20. Ben was 237 during football and was 220 for the Nebraska dual. Last night I heard he was 229 but haven't seen the official weight. He's been in the room everyday for 2 weeks now so his wrestling shape isn't quite there yet. My opinion he's probably a R16 guy depending on his draw. Luffman IL in a few weeks will be a good measuring stick.

  22. I signed in to say this comment is gross. Cael is not the God of college wrestling who rules by word. Maybe if duels mattered penn state would duel interesting teams and not just try to throw soft balls till the end of the year. Duels are better for everyone. They are better for fans because tournaments are chaos for watching your faves, nd they're better for programs because they foster rivalries and loyalty.

  26. I collect nuts and bolts just in case I need them some time. Same with electrical wiring and doo dads. I wouldn't say I collect them rather I hoard them. That's probably a more fair summary. However I do have 2 guitar amps, 1 bass amp, 1 bass, 2 electric guitars (one is on the market), and 2 acoustic guitars. None are high dollar units. The 2 guitar amps are Marshall, Code 50 and Origin 20 head paired with a speaker cabinet I bought and upgraded. One electric guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul (very nice I must say) but not high dollar. I also have an impressive amount of tools, most of which get used. Table Saw, Mitre saw, a bunch of hand tools. In fact, when it was below 20F on Saturday I was in the shed cutting boards for my wife with the mitre saw. Fingers nearly froze off. It is tough to work when your fingers fall off. mspart

  29. I know going past a year, but the ‘15-‘17 run by Snyder has to be an all time great right? Beat the defending Olympic champ to make the world team, where he would go on to beat the defending world champ to win gold. Come back for an NCAA title and Olympic Gold, come back to bump and take out Gwiz, then Sadulaev.

  32. It was a rare edition of Monday Night Wrestling on the Big Ten Network as undefeated conference rivals Iowa and Minnesota squared off last night in Iowa’s Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Iowa took seven of ten individual matches and was never in danger of dropping their first dual of the year to the Gophers. In one of the marquee matches of the evening, Drake Ayala overcame an early deficit to down Patrick McKee for the second time this season. McKee had won the previous four meetings between the two. The dual was bookended by talented two-sport star Ben Kueter, who made his Hawkeye debut at 285 lbs. Kueter knocked off 29th ranked Bennett Tabor to end the dual and tally his first career win in an Iowa singlet. Kueter recently joined the team after spending the last few months on the football field for Kirk Ferentz’s team. The bright spot for Minnesota was an upset at 157 lbs as Iowa-native Michael Blockhus handed second-ranked Jared Franek his first loss of the season. Iowa will close out the week by hosting Purdue on Friday night, while Minnesota faces Nebraska back at home. Iowa 22 Minnesota 9 125 - Drake Ayala (Iowa) dec Patrick McKee (Minnesota) 8-5 133 - Tyler Wells (Minnesota) dec Kale Peterson (Iowa) 6-3 141 - Real Woods (Iowa) dec Vance VomBaur (Minnesota) 5-3 149 - Caleb Rathjen (Iowa) dec Drew Roberts (Minnesota) 7-3 157 - Michael Blockhus (Minnesota) dec Jared Franek (Iowa) 5-4 165 - Michael Caliendo (Iowa) dec Blaine Brenner (Minnesota) 5-1 174 - Patrick Kennedy (Iowa) maj Sam Skillings (Minnesota) 13-2 184 - Isaiah Salazar (Minnesota) dec Aiden Riggins (Iowa) 7-0 197 - Zach Glazier (Iowa) dec Garrett Joles (Minnesota) 4-2 285 - Ben Kueter (Iowa) dec Bennett Tabor (Minnesota) 5-3

  36. Ayala: He lacks physical toughness (injury proneness mostly) but his mental toughness is truly elite. He never panics when down and routinely pulls off comebacks. I love that in him. I just hope his body can hang

  43. Pyles is not a good look for Flo or the sport. The Clark Kent horned-rim Tennis coach thing doesn't work for wrestling. It's never quite clear what he is trying to say. His message often gets lost after having to get through the wishy washy moralistic and apologetic nonsense.

  44. I think it still makes sense to choose down unless you're bad on bottom or the other guy is good on top. End of 1 you're up 3-1. You choose neutral and no scoring, 3-1. Other guy escapes, takes you down, you escape, lose 5-4. Should've chose bottom.

  45. My household plan is to enter as many lotteries as we are allowed. If we get selected then make some trades. The the real plan takes effect: I plan to bite the bullet and pay whatever it costs on the second-hand market if I don't get lottery for men's freestyle, women's swimming, and luckily the marathon on the final morning will be free to stand along the course. I just need to figure out if they will be on TicketMaster or somewhere else. I may also try to get tix to men's rugby sevens if it doesn't conflict. Not sure how many times I will get the chance to take the kiddos to a World Cup game in 2026 and a US summer Olympics so I'm not going to miss the opportunity even though it's going to be insanely expensive.

  46. My understanding is for many Olympics the general tickets are often acquired by host country citizens by putting your name in a lottery system and hoping your name get pulled. Or you can purchase the tickets form someone who’s name did. Some people will put in for whatever events they can and then go to the games and try to swap them out with someone for specific event tickets.

  47. CKLV provided a lot of information for Intermat to update their rankings. Some moved up, some moved down, and some even had the spelling of their name changed (fair thee well, Ryan Crooham. We hardly knew ye.) The result is that there is a fairly substantial shake up in the podium positions. Most notably, NC State moves up a spot to second, while Michigan freefalls from second to ninth. Missouri replaces Michigan on the podium by leapfrogging Nebraska into third. The difference between second and ninth also grew substantially. Last week it stood at a mere 10.3 points. This week it has grown to 18 points. Iowa State was the other big beneficiary at CKLV, but coming from twelfth place meant they only moved up to eighth. Meanwhile, Oklahoma State is getting very close to crashing the podium, having improved two slots to fifth. And as @Jimmy Cinnabon was first to notice, Penn State is looking very vulnerable. They are no longer expected to double second place points. At this rate if the NCAA tournament was held in mid-February PSU would lose to NC State. Sanderson is officially on the hot seat.
