Yes Trump did that and what would you be saying if he didn't? But in the beginning, the vaccine was for those that needed it. Old people, people with bad immune systems, obese, with diabetes, or other comorbidities. Young people were not in danger of it and this was known. Even middle aged people were not in great danger of it. All of that action to have everyone vaccinated was a liberal cause. All of the lengthy shutdowns was a liberal cause. Interminable mask mandates was a liberal cause. Saying you risk everyone else if you don't wear a mask was a liberal cause. See reaction of MSNBC's Rachel Maddow when DCD lifted their mask mandate. She had to consciously think that that unmasked person was not a threat. I'm sure you can find the youtube of that one. And she ain't no conservative. This is all well known and documented. So what you are trying to say is that Trump got the vaccine going and he's not liberal so it was not a liberal issue. My perspective is that not knowing exactly how things with covid were, it was prudent of any President to get a remedy as quickly as possible. But all the hysteria after that was liberal politics. For the US, here is the up to date covid death chart: As you can see, most of the deaths were for folks above 50 years old. Younger folks didn't have much concern. This is who contracted covid. Few older folks got it but it killed more of them. Lots of younger folks got it but were mostly unaffected. Compare age of contracting covid vs that age group death and you get a rate. I'll do a few. For those 85+, death rate was 15.8% For those 50-64 death rate was 1.1%. For 40-49, death rate was 0.33%. For 0-17, death rate was 0.098%. Vaccinating school age kids is almost worthless. But that too is a liberal cause. Why? Because for liberals, covid is death, which as you can see is not the case. The upshot is no matter what age you are, you have a slim chance of dying from covid. But the older group certainly has a greater chance. mspart3 points

i'm not sure how the tweet you cited and this year's ILLRTC summer success correlate. however, yes, people in the state of illinois do overvalue/overestimate how good their HSers are. (also, if you're saying Ludwig should land more blue chippers at Norther, please tell me who he should have landed. i think the Illini are actually more guilty of that than Northern, who is a mid major. There were six Top 50 recruits from Illinois in 2023 and Illinois only got one of them. Last year, Illinois had zero in the Top 50. Let's now look at AA's. The state of Illinois produced 8 AA's in 2023 and 2022 and 7 in 2021. This is how many wore block I's. 2023 - 0 2022 - 0 2021 - 1 (Dylan Duncan)3 points

Absolutely. By the terminology of today: Speech = violence. Silence = violence. At all times I am either talking or I am not therefore I am, by definition, Violent. Extreme? Of course. I regularly use terms like Man, Woman, Boy, Girl, Mom, Dad, America. I think the Constitution is pretty cool and we hardly even use it anymore so it is like new. I also use gas stoves, incandescent lights, eat meat and not bugs (not on purpose, anyway), and believe in merit based college admissions and career advancement. The FBI is monitoring me and now, by extension, everyone on this forum. I also have a streak of grammar extremism. Is being "aloud to take the 5th" possible? Taking the 5th is not speaking (violence, of course) and therefore not aloud. I had the right, permission, and was allowed to take the 5th but I did not have the capability.2 points

Would agree with this. To add, I don't think violence is a pre-requisite for extremism. I believe people can have extremist views and behavior without being violent. In one discussion yesterday I mentioned how for some people, every single topic has to revert to RvD, RvD, RvD. I believe that is a form of extremism.2 points

THIS!!!! Saying this about a year ago would have got you called names like it did me without actually addressing the data. Noticed GWN wouldn't touch the actual data with a ten-foot pole in his response. Nor will any of the other pro-covid-hysteria types on here.2 points

Hunter Biden’s staggering $20M haul from Kazhaks, Chinese, Russians, Romanians and Ukrainians revealed in new bank records: Comer “It’s clear Joe Biden knew about his son’s business dealings and allowed himself to be ‘the brand’ sold to enrich the Biden family while he was Vice President of the United States.” https://nypost.com/2023/08/09/hunter-biden-linked-foreign-haul-at-20m-with-russia-ukraine-kazak-transfers-comer/ Biden said his son didn’t get any money from China.1 point

"pernt near"...Backwoods speak for close, not far away, etc. Right up there with "two tree" which would describe the amount of something..."How close are we to getting to the banjo jamboree?" "About two tree miles." "We's pernt near there."1 point

As of August 7, 2023, President Joe Biden just took his 367th day of vacation in just 2.5 years, which sets a record compared to any other president in recent history. Biden has been on vacation for roughly 40% of his time in office. He is outpacing every single one of his modern predecessors. So he is unique. He's the oldest ever and takes the most vacations ever. I don't get that much. He's figured out the system. Perhaps we only need a 60% President. Pay him/her 60% of what he is currently getting. Obviously we don't need a full time President, he's proving that everyday. mspart1 point

He will make up the difference from the bribes anyway. You think he's on vacation? No way - he's spending 40% of his time shaking down oligarchs worldwide and providing them with the "illusion of access"! This man is BRILLIANT.1 point

Continuing on the theme of projected rosters in the Big 10, Tom Ryan also confirmed rumors of Sasso going up to 157. Sounds like the projected lineup looks like this: 125: Brendan McCrone/Andre Gonzales/Vinny Kilkeary 133: Nic Bouzakis 141: Jesse Mendez/Jordan Decatur 149: Dylan D’Emilio 157: Sammy Sasso 165: Bryce Hepner/Paddy Gallagher 174: Carson Kharchla 184: Seth Shumate/Luke Geog 197: Gavin Hoffman/Luke Geog 285: Nick Feldman So, still lots of questions: 1) Is Kilkeary ready and who gets the nod at 125; 2) Is Jesse gonna redshirt (I am doubting it)? 3) Who emerges as the guy at 165 (I would think Hepner)? 4) Which weight is Geog gonna fit in? Obviously depends on if he beats out Hoffman--do folks think he will? As always--look forward to folks' thoughts!1 point

Way to not actually read or comprehend a single thing I tried to explain fairly to you. The US does not have a documented history of cheating doping tests at the governmental level - Russia does. That is the reason people are still unsure about the inclusion and the suspect nature of it. I don’t think there would be too many instances of Russian wrestlers cheating, but the fact the organization that’s in charge of testing them has been documented in cheating for the athletes, there are few ways to know until it’s too late - often 8-12 years after someone’s been cheating. Read. Comprehend. Understand. These are facts of the context, not an attack on Russian wrestlers.1 point

Awesome!! In college I became friends with the guy I wrestled in my very first wrestling match ever (he beat me to a pulp and made me cry like a little baby - he ended up a two time HS state champ) and one night we went out, and he hated the football frat, so on our way home he made me go to the frat house and he is yelling at the top of his lungs and challenged anyone to come out and fight him (he was about 150lbs)...a few lights came on and people were looking out the windows, but no one came out. He was one tough SOB!1 point

If you are familiar with any of our (former) international officials, you may remember the late great Tom Clark, whom could not have a conversation without being a genius, witty smart ass. Most chats included many quips and great lines....a couple of my favortie: Hey next time you're at Lowe's, check out the clearance they have on aisle four......a whole pallet full of go f**k yourself. AND You know what, lets say we go to lunch. I'll buy you a go f**k yourself grouper sandwich1 point

I saw a Flo interview of Ersland. Sounds like there is potential for Blaze to go as a true freshman--any Purdue fans think this is the case or just motivational tactic? In any event--the lineup sounded potentially like this: 125 Ramos 133 Norris 141 White 149 Polanco 157 Blaze? Law? 165 Buell 174 Baumann 184 Rowley 197 Vanadia 285 Copass1 point

What is truly odd (and absolutely ridiculous and stupid) is for you to somehow link the message in his song to a psychopath killing a bunch of innocent people. But coming from you...guess I am not surprised. Sad when political ideology gives way to common sense and logic. Let's summarize what has happened on here in regards to his song...it has been called racist because of where it was filmed...but no other video's, commercials, or movies that have been filmed in the exact same spot were called racist. Then it is about celebrating guns and gun culture because of one piece of lyric in the whole song that mentions getting a hand me down gun from his grandfather? Next it is about somehow promoting violence....yet the same people have no problem with ALL the other music out there and politicians that, in fact, actually call for violence against innocent people and police. Not to mention the song is about trying to stop people that are causing violence and breaking the law. The great thing about all of this, is that in spite of all the idiots out there, he won't be cancelled and he will make a ton of money...all the while the idiots are crying with their selective outrage looking stupid.1 point

Fix went from world team in ‘19 over Gilman to whatever he is today. I can forgive folkstyle losses to Suriano, RBY, and Vito because 1) folk and 2) they may end up with world medals themselves. But losing the spot to Gross last year, not competing at Final X this year, the NCAA losses this year… I call that serious regression because he set the bar high from the jump. He needs a whisperer.1 point

This is brutal, and really makes me feel bad for what some wrestlers run into in terms of abrasive personalities and bad coaches in their pursuit of their own goals. I sure as heck can say it also mirrors a lot of my own experience back in the day dealing with coaches in recruiting and then wrestling in college. I’m sorry to say at the college level, my personal experience was that more than half of the coaches I had long term interactions with were angry and duplicitous people who made their athletes lived and skills worse. There are the rare individuals who truly care about building relationships, supporting and developing their athletes into human beings of character, but my goodness was it few and far between. Direct quote from an old teammate, “Yeah, it sucked, but the upside was it made me find things to care about outside wrestling.”1 point
