The speed he calls the fall for Haines compared to not calling it for Andonian earlier is awful. Congrats to Haines, but that's absurd from the ref.9 points

Ladies and gentlemen, I have been to the Great Wall of China, I have seen the Pyramids of Egypt, I've even witnessed a grown man satisfy a camel. But never in all my years as a sportscaster have I witnessed something as improbable, as impossible, as what we've witnessed here today!6 points

@Perry and @CraigOR this is a premature request, but since you have both been so generous as to create each of the session threads thus far... I have an early request to name tomorrow morning's thread "The Wasteland Invitational Session IV Saturday Morning Discussion" and embed the Hidlay video from last year by pressing the return key after pasting. One of the rawest clips ever and a heck of a quote. We can hold off on discussion of the clip until tomorrow though and I'm not embedding yet for the same reason https://twitter.com/NCAAWrestling/status/15052421306164060164 points

The pin was called quickly for Haines. Also, they showed the replay from the 1st period. Haines' right shoulder never touched the mat.4 points

Is he a BJJ guy or what? He likes to go across the throat with his forearm with double boots if possible. Not a claw ride. Phillippi looked like he was getting choked out in their match today. Byrd seemed to have a big problem with Nagao going across the windpipe at Big Tens and I believe he tried the same thing on RBY too. If I'm in coaching in the opposite corner, you bet I would be yelling at the ref to watch Nagao's chokeholds.3 points

Very interesting take, I can see that for sure. In an alternate universe, Glory looks over to the other mat, sees Lee get decked and throws his match with Cronin so he can wrestle Spencer in the consi finals, lol3 points

Hendrickson is by far my favorite non UNC wrestler to watch this year. That guy just lays it on the line every match without a care in the world. He’s the Bryce Andonian of heavyweights, without the same recognition for how explosive he is.3 points

Thanks for putting this up Perry. You beat me to the draw. Yes exiting. Some call it 'moving day' as in the points and team standings. I want to see Humphries v Franek. 2 hammers going at it. Counting cards gives a person a slight advantage. That's the kind of advantage that could ruin a casino's night. I think that restricting somebody's oxygen intake is at least a slight advantage. I call him the "Gopher Choker." If he doesn't stop, the name, or an even better one, will stick.3 points

There's no pressure on the throat at all? How on EARTH would you possibly know that? Because he's on the shoulder? Please, he's directly across the throat. I can't tell from this ONE picture if he's choking him or how much pressure is being applied, but your arguments are comical. Not having choked someone out="Must not be very good at it?" Or...it's his bread and butter, but he's smart enough to not choke someone out with it or it'll become the focus of every match he wrestles. Not sure the OP said just coming across the throat is illegal. I'm pretty sure he simply pointed out he...chokes the hell out of people and that if HE were coaching his opponent, he'd be on the ref to make them aware. It was pretty plainly stated and clearly true...and he didn't say it was illegal. Maybe(probably) dirty though.2 points

Definitely got this impression on him after I watched him perform what looked like a cross face... to the neck of RBY2 points

So why does that not make him a true freshmen? He didn't red/gray shirt...he didn't skip a year in terms of age...he is chronologically what is considered a true freshmen. Never understood trying to diminish someone. Anyway, Haines, hands down, best TRUE freshmen year...so far.2 points
