Disclaimer: All numbers are subject to change as I find errors that I am sure are there. I have spent a fair amount of time on error detection, but the odds I got the all are plus or minus zero. From 1928 thru 2022 there have been 3,274 wrestlers who have earned All-American status. In total they have earned 5,509 honors. AA Trivia: In 92 NCAA tournaments there have only been two wrestlers named Brad Smith to All-American.... And they were in the same bracket. In 1976 Iowa's Brad Smith won the 142 lb. title while Toledo's Brad Smith took fourth at the weight. It is is shame they weren't both in the final. Would have been tough on the announcers, but fun for me. The biggest spread between All-Americans earned by a single wrestler is eight years. In 1950 Frank Altman took third at 121 for Northern Iowa (Iowa State Teachers College). After serving in the Air Force for four years he returned to college at Iowa State and took 4th at 115 in 1958. Pretty remarkable. https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/globegazette/name/frank-altman-obituary?pid=199769884 (More trivia to come, but have to run)4 points

Love these type of topics! NCAA finals is a little tough run but I’ll bite. With a sprinkle of some sneaky AA. I’ll stay within rank #10 and below. 125- Brett Ungar #13 (AA) close matches with a lot of tough kids 133- Chris Cannon #13 (Finalist) *Fix gotta move up/down 141- Casey Swiderski #19 (Champ) god I love this kid, hope he’ gets healthy. 141- HM- Mosha Schwartz #28 (AA) 149- Jonathan Millner #10 (Finalist) 157- Levi Haines #17 (Finalist) Penn St NCAA magic enough said 165- Tanner Cook #18 (Finalist) smells like Kizhan Clarke here. He either makes the finals or goes 1-2 174- Edmond Ruth #10 (AA) not much of a stretch but I don’t see anyone beating the top 4 at this weight 184- Lenny Pinto #16 (AA) STRONG LIKE BULL 197- Cameron Caffey #14 (Finalist) Crazy weight, he’s athletic enough to get up big on good guys and hold on. HVY- Hunter Catka #23 (AA) no damn idea who to pick here4 points

It quite possible could. That's what is being investigated. The Trump organization was already found guilty of criminal tax fraud.4 points

Bruv, have you been watching Pinto?!?! He is the next destroyer of worlds! But in all seriousness, I concur with your picks. Hardy is a great test for Woods. I hope he's healthy and ready to go3 points

Is colored domestic red, white and and blue. Here is a glimpse of our future. Candidate lost 3:1, convinced himself it was stolen, formed a posse and opened fire. The rigged election lies Trump created compounded with the insanity and passion he attracts is going to leave severe damage in its wake. Unfathomable. Not only does the growing list of terrorist incidents(this, the MI attacks on the governor, J6 and more) fail bring the mainstream GOP to reality, they double down.2 points

This is my favorite dual of the year, good individual rivalries, the teams really don't like each other, weird stuff tends to happen...but I'm not familiar enough with NC States lineup to do a top down prediction so someone else do it please!2 points

Actually, I was in Spanish Class as a Junior in HS. I inhaled some helium from a balloon and waited for the teacher to call on me. She didn't and I had to breathe. She never knew but I about passed out. I was really surprised at how fast that acted. mspart2 points

Are they allowed to inhale helium before getting on the scale? I tried it once, not during a weight thing, but lasted about 15 seconds before I almost passed out. mspart2 points

Not to mention one of the main arguments for overturning Roe was that the abortion question should be left up to the states. Almost immediately after it was overturned Republicans were talking about drafting federal legislation limiting abortion....2 points

I still cannot believe Pinto went neutral up 4-2 entering 3rd. I get it. Salazar is good on top, but you have to be able to simply not get turned to lose a match if you are going to get where you want to get. Nebraska does some stupid things strategically from time to time. This was a key one for big 10 and national seeding. Pinto has to be much smarter also. Gas tank and mind are only things holding him back thus far.2 points

No. I think that video has DeSanto hugging RBY's leg on the ground for seven minutes.2 points

As the boomers die off and gen Z starts voting in numbers, I predict some people on this board will be less than happy with the state results. As for even having each state decide things, should Mississippi be able to decide that interracial marriage is illegal within their borders? Seems like a bad idea.2 points

"I think these fans just respond really well to a good haircut. That's what I was working on coming in here, making sure I had it fluffed and feathered the right way, and I think the fans saw my hard work." mspart - maybe slow this train down. You can't possibly think a wealthy person's tax return is as simple as a what you just posted. You certainly know better than that. Justifying what wealthy criminals do so they don't pay their fair share isn't helping anyone except the criminals.2 points

Agree. I don’t see how Lee’s loss to Bresser would have much relevance to this conversation, other than talking about the strategy he employed, which was basically the same strategy Rivera employed to beat him too: in a word, stall. If RBY had beaten Rivera than Lee’s Rivera losses could have been relevant to this conversation, but he didn’t. Was definitely looking forward to 133 at NCAA’s in 2020…sigh…1 point

Yep. Marion had him dead to rights at one point on a leg attack and Dake just muscled out with a ridiculous improvised bridge. And then he applied seven minutes worth of, um, how would one describe it? substantial force? brutality? to Molinaro (a somewhat muscular fellow himself) the next year.1 point

I basically agree, but with one qualification. The fact that Dake gained 25 pounds in college (all while having minimal body fat) shows he was really a kid when he won at 141. This observation is in line with him winning as a true freshman. When he won at 141, he was a a boy. When he won at 165 had gained grown man strength.1 point

Lee won't bump up. And if he does, he loses. Historically speaking RBY is a much, much better version of the type of wrestler that has given Lee issues: Seabass, RB3. RBY would evade for much of the first, put together a flurry of action in the last 30 seconds of the 1st period and take Lee down and ride him out. In the second, Lee won't be able to ride RBY much less turn him in the 2nd period. By the 3rd period, RBY slaps on a western hook and gets his minute of riding time and then cuts Lee loose. Spencer is so tired by then his feet stop moving. RBY wins a controlled 4-1. *For all the naysayers -RBY doesn't get tired..ever. RBY hasn't been close to being ridden..ever in the last 3 years. RBY is calculated with his attacks and has an extremely high finish rate. He took 1 shot on Fix and finished it. He could have taken Fix down whenever he wanted. -Spencer does get tired. Spencer does struggle with incredibly fast & athletic wrestlers. 125 might be the weakest weight in NCAA outside of Spencer And then lastly, the coaching is going to make a difference. One team has shown time and again an ability to create a game plan and execute, while the other team/coaching staff has shown zero ability to do so.1 point

So one statement from page 1 and the other from page 21, they are both red background with white letters. Is/was there reason to believe one over the other or can they both be true? But thanks to all the good posters here for keeping this alive until the NCAA stepped up to do the right thing. Its a good outcome for Burwick.1 point

It didn't look bad to anyone who wasn't over the top (like 20 some pages worth) for Nebraska. I'll say it. This was over 15 pages ago. Nebraska, you and this kid got mad because someone better came in at his weight and he left without knowing the rules for transfering. He had to sit awhile, just like if he lost the wrestle off he didn't want to wrestle. It happens. Quit whining and blaming others.1 point

Still... the transfer portal is out of control. And he was one of the biggest names and biggest beneficiaries in it's history. Everyone has their own reasons, and all wish for a "perfect world." I tend to really like Dave Dean and Gabe Dean, but this struck me as a bit hypocritical. "The transfer portal is out of control... but it was great for us and a lot of these other kids shouldn't be able to take advantage of it like we did!"1 point
