Imagine if Starrocci were on your favorite team. Would you like him? If the answer is yes then it's just your bias showing because he competes for the Nittany Lions.2 points

Mauller beat Parco the last time they wrestled (5th place match at '21 NCAA's). He'll do it again, IMO2 points

Is it me or did Byrd not do anything to help his offense against Mendez?2 points

For those that missed it here is a great view of the Mendez vs Byrd match. Byrd was saved by the Scorer's table or that's a 6 pt move or pin at the end.2 points

Mine was that I would always to lay flat on back before a match or tournament and count the lights. I figure if you got it out of your system before the matches started, you were good.1 point

Rememer when Gilman used to be Capt Iowa and gave a lot of long winded interviews where he was succeeded in being rude and boring at the same time? Starocci is the same way. No one ever seems to mention it, probably because he is so good he can get away with it to be honest.1 point

I don't mind if he's brash, i just wish he was funny or interesting.1 point

Except he wasn't really taunting him. He was telling him to get up because no one would believe it. One interesting thing about the photo is when you look at the film. This pose was just a split second.1 point

When I did it (early 2000s), we didn't need any kind of license. Start off by finding a local officials' organization. Usually run by veterans, they often have their own workshops or officials' tournaments for those who are just starting out. This will provide a place where you can get regular feedback and answers to the many questions you will have, and can then connect you to kids level tournaments or other venues from which you can work your way up.1 point

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from, especially after your list. Frank Marino is not everyone's cup of tea. But being a 40 year aspiring guitar player and still not very good, he is absolutely amazing. He is blazing fast, but melodic at the same time. mspart1 point

Well sure but Bob is still mad about his election loss and now he has to hang out thru eternity with all those dead folks who voted against him, his grumpiness is understandable.1 point

I have McGee by Major at 133, O'Toole via Pin at 165, and Elam via Major at 197. 23-13 Mizzou.1 point

I looked at this matchup several weeks ago - prior to the news that Teemer was out for the year - and even with Teemer in the lineup ASU loses this dual vs. MO. But here's how I see it going (without Teemer): 125 - ASU - Courtney by Dec over Surtin - 3-0 ASU 133 - ASU - McGee by Dec over Brown - 6-0 ASU 141 - MO - Hart by Dec over Vasquez - 6-3 ASU 149 - MO - Mauller by Dec over Parco - 6-6 157 - MO - Jacques by MD over Ramos or Wilner - 10-6 MO 165 - MO - O'Toole by MD over Negron - 14-6 MO 174 - MO - Mocco by Dec over Valencia - 17-6 MO 184 - ASU - Montalvo by Dec over Harman - 17-9 MO 197 - MO - Elam by Dec over Norfleet - 20-9 MO 285 - ASU - Schultz by Dec over Elam - 20-12 MO Plug Teemer into the lineup at 157 lbs and ASU wins by Dec at 157 lbs - which ultimately changes the final score by 3 points on both sides, i.e., 17-15 MO.1 point

184 is not a weight To have to worry about. Hawks was/is on the mend don’t know when he would be ready to go but also have Whiting which is more than capable to win.1 point

He bearcraws into opponents but uses it to set up offense. He actually doesn’t stay on his knees that much and he doesn’t sit on one knee and wait1 point

Robles was a 125 but his shoulders were those of a 149er.1 point

It's like a tell in poker. The pitcher develops a habit before certain pitches letting the batter know what's coming. Maybe he throws over the top on curves and sliders, but goes 3/4 sidearm on fastballs. Or. maybe he pats his leg before a fastball. It doesn't have to the pitcher. SS and 2nd usually know what's being thrown. We were up against a ss that would slide move toward second on fastballs, but would move right and into the hole on curves. We just watched which way the shortstop went and we knew what pitch was coming.1 point

Sometimes people change their major and that requires more time based on the current structure of higher education. I was student teaching and realized that wasn't my career path, and not all credits I had earned to that point counted towards my much more generic business degree. Also, not every kid takes a freshman year's worth of AP classes, much less "most" - that is a patently absurd take.1 point

I like Byrd but yes it was a notable result, just messing with you, I think it was notable how Zac won but not so much that he won.1 point
-
But what if I added that Braunagel pinned Hoffman, won by fall or what if I said it was by PINFALL!!1 point
-
Mendez over Byrd is much more significant than Braunagel over Hoffman. Hoffman had a lights out tourney (for him) and AA'd. Mendez as a true frosh taking out the #5 in a meat grinder of a weight is huge.1 point
-
I thought it was "notable" prob depends on which team you are cheering for. Byrd an early season close loss, he'll fix that later.1 point

What you say makes a lot of sense, yes. The problem is thinking about it as if they are student-athletes. That is what is commonly sold to us, the consumer. The truth and reality if it is that they are financial assets and every college is a business, often times a state run one. Ergo, if money is to be made, they will try to make more of it. The lesser time (years) the kids have in school with less time exploiting their name, image, likeness, and athletic prowess then that means the less peak profit they stand to have.1 point

I was born a few months after the '67 riots and had family hurt, grievously, on both sides. We didn't move to Novi until ~1975? Some if my superstitions were quite dark for some time. My nephews and grandkiddos, though? I have one that listens to only shuffle dance electro during warmups. He lost to some kid he had never lost to before when his ipod broke? Swears it cost him the match. I have one who has different colored shoes with matching leggings. He alternates them depending on home/away and doesn't wash his socks once the season starts. My grandaughter wears a purple singlet under her blue and reds. I remember an old high school teammate wore a shoulder brace even though he never had any shoulder issues. His grandfather swore by it that it helped with throw defense and he believed him 110% all through high school.1 point
