Seriously, this kid couldn't STFU about his recruiting for a year straight. Now months of radio silence.

The only thing we can be sure of is he'll be lucky to get 1/5th of what he was going to get from Iowa in NIL. Whoever's advising this kid did him an enormous disservice.

Somehow.   Skipping two grades of school to train from a parental perspective I bet plays a part.

His dad…

As to Bassett, again, there's no evidence or reports of that, and it makes zero sense to do given the fact everybody knows that NIL is about to change so this was the last deal going to be given out like this by Iowa.

I thought the theory was that that’s precisely why they may have had buyers remorse, if Bob think he isn’t going to have to pay guys that much moving forward.  I’m kinda thinking the whole Deloitte thing is gonna get shot down by the courts anyway though

I think you're right. The clearinghouse brings the NCAA right back into the same anti-trust/anti-competition territory that led to the NIL era in the first place.

Several things have to happen before he commits.

1. A sign from above.

2. His parents have to agree on NIL and Booster monies offered, with a clause he        will always be the highest paid wrestler.

3. His dad needs to secure a coaching position in the program.

4. It is a package deal with his brothers and parents.

I know this is sarcasm but 2-4 were reportedly offered by at least one school

Yeah... and the guy talking about how he has not...morality(not exactly how he put it, it was MUCH harsher) could NOT stop trashing him for his recruiting updates!

Now, he's NOT talking about it...AND HE'S GETTING TRASHED FOR THAT!

Talk about a no-win situation...

Actually the opposite - I think it's smart for him to keep quiet now.

He spent months making a spectacle of his recruiting process, only for God to tell him he chose wrong. Pretty embarrassing.

On FRL when discussing Melvin Miller’s top 6, they said that both PSU and OK State seemed unlikely for Bo.

So AJ Ferrari and Bo will be on the same team!

Curious how God would appreciate him associating himself with an alleged r*pist...

The kid is annoying.  I just re-watched his 2024 U 20 tournament.  After every win,  he knows exactly where the camera is. Pointing,  mugging, pounding his chest and makes sure he points to the heavens.  But when Japan teched him there was none of that.  No pointing to the heavens for the lesson?

Find me an instance of any athlete pointing to the heavens after a loss. I'm not a fan of thanking God for athletic successes in general, but Bo in post tournament interviews is consistent when he says things like "I would have loved to come out with the win today, but you know, God has something else planned for me, so I'm just going to continue to trust in him and continue putting in the work and getting better." He is one of the humblest high school wrestlers in defeat that I have seen. I'm not even necessarily a Bo Bassett fan, but the hate he gets from grown men leads me to frequently feeling the need to defend him.

Maybe he should convert to Shintoism.

I feel exactly the same.  I've never rooted for him in a match, but it's silly how he gets treated.  Up above in this thread he gets bashed for being too loud and then bashed for being too quiet after that.  Here he is getting knocked for being too Christian and not Christian enough.  If people want to find things to attack a HS kid for, they're always going to find those things.  I wish more of the kids I coached were obnoxious and super hard working.  I'd have a pretty easy job if the biggest issue I dealt with as a coach was a kid knew where the camera was.

Not “the heavens,” but:

I do agree criticizing Bo for not celebrating after losing is dumb though
