"Nothing happened" doesn't mean that the coaches did nothing.

Now, maybe Cael did nothing. That is very possible.

But, based on the fact that security footage was reviewed, and two people of interest were subsequently identified, I'm guessing that means Cael or another coach contacted the PD, as required.

What did Cael do about this?   Specifically?

Beau and Mark, a former teammate who requested anonymity due to fear of retaliation, alleged Starocci took nonconsensual explicit photos of them in the Nittany Lions’ locker room. Beau said the photos were reported to Sanderson along with the theft, but nothing came of it from the coach.

“I walked out of the shower to a snapshot from (Starocci) of me, naked,” Beau said. “The team had a snapchat group chat that he filled with those kinds of pictures of teammates.”

Anonymously, which you can't really do in a criminal case  What a weird hill to die on.  Did Carter's mom make a burner account on here, too?

anonymous to who? once these allegations come out, Carter knows exactly who is saying it. lol you are blinded by PSU hate and you just want it to be true so badly that you are thought impotent.

the victims didn't go to Starocci's girlfriend, they went to bartletts girl. this smells fishy. seems like bartlett might just be married to a complete psychopath. I bet she is the one who called the newspaper as well.

I think we found one

one would hope. if there are so many that he doesn't ... wtf. but, can you not understand the connection  between sexual assault and shame?

I have always questioned Starroci’s character and temperament based on observations (terrible thing to do on my part). However, to say he should be kicked off the team or Cael should be fired is a pretty huge leap based on information in the article.
First, the article says the police were not able to locate Starroci, but that could easily be misworded. Maybe the police did ask him questions but Starroci refused to cooperate. They have no evidence he did it, so what were they supposed to do? Get a search warrant?

What did you want Cael to do? Holy crap can you imagine if coaches opened police investigations every time a player reports something stolen from their locker? That’s millions of case a day! 95% of the time the player left it at home, car, etc.

The SA allegations are horrible, but if nothing has been reported everybody’s hands are tired. Did anybody tell Cael or did “everybody” talk about it behind closed doors and Cael “had to know?”

Checking the oil and 5 on 2 are horrible parts of our sport. It has as much to do with our sport not growing as much as anything. However, if every wrestler was kicked off the team for accusations of that we’d have to move to 6 weight classes.
All these factors combined, plus maybe more we don’t know, could lead to moving on and not joining the NLWC. But it’s hard to imagine kicking him off the PSU team with flimsy allegations.

It might be unfair, but given PSU's history, running a program where this happens should be grounds for termination of the coach, even if the coach wasn't covering it up. The only question in my mind is whether the allegations here are true. I hope they are not.  But if they are and a 17 year old was taken to the PSU locker room/groomed/and then assaulted when they were 18, the coach has to be fired. There are also the allegations that members of the team were sexually assaulted/photographed with the photos shared on a snapchat that everyone knew about....Not good either. You can't run a program where that behavior happens at PSU in athletic facilities given the history of the university.

It's not the coaches fault legally, but running a program with that type of culture should put you out of a job at PSU. But like I said, these are just allegations and need to be supported by evidence and investigated by PSU.

You're not going to believe this, but many people don't view every story that happens thru the prism of sports Fandom,  and I'm not a person who hates PSU like that, anyway.  You're the one here just dismissing multiple people making similar claims as if a college wrestler is likely to attract some sort of conspiracy against them.  What you've decided to do is just ignore the allegations of multiple women and his teammate with no evidence other than your gut while assuming the best from a guy who hasn't even responded.

One of is is definitely biased, but it ain't me.

I just want to know if Cael slammed down a copy of the PSU Collegian on his desk like Warden Norton did in Shawshank Redemption!?

We won't know reality with this.

Wow.   You know its a good prank when you keep it for 6+ months, have the coaches and police aware,  a teammate (Kasak) speak to the police and then you refuse to speak yourself.  Wasting a lot of time and resources.    He got everyone with that one!

Are we even sure Cael is not Sandusky in disguise? The dude just shaved his head, rearranged a few letters in his last name, and resurfaced as the PSU wrestling coach. The real Cael's probably locked in his basement.

Wait, are you saying this is actually worse than kids of legal gambling age betting on sports online?  Because some people thought Brands should be fired for that...

I thought the article said Bartlett never got the items back, but could be wrong.

My one criticism of the article is that there is this quote in big blue letters breaking up 2 of the paragraphs, but I thought when articles do that it usually is pulled from elsewhere in the article, yet I don’t think this quote was:

“I didn’t (do) all the things I should’ve done to press charges against him because I was young and really scared,” she said. “I didn’t want to accept what had happened.”

This sucks.

Youtube just recommended a Sanderson highlight video, and I reflexively swiped away from it out of disgust.

I think the impact has already been had, we’re just waiting to for the knock-on effects.

That is the room that is or has been home to the best wrestlers and the majority of medals the US has earned over the past 20 years.

Also…safesport…wtf? Where were you when it mattered?

Gotta take the safe sport test almost annually to keep your USA card right?

I don't doubt oil checks happen with some regularity in wrestling and other grappling heavy sports.  However, I am somewhat surprised that Carter Starocci, a huge 184 pounder would be wrestling at all with 141 pound Beau Bartlett.

No…but Zach Ryder would have been…could it have been a factor in his decision to jump programs with the Rocco signing the final straw? His family has been incredibly closed mouthed on his reasoning and he was there for two years.  Given the actions described, the youngest guy in the room would likely be a target for hazing more than anyone. Also, was Kasak’s presence on the security video just random? The one gal said that Star and a practice partner were both present on one occasion of questionable behavior. Lots to unwrap here.

You realize that you’re effectively accusing Kasak of being party to a sexual crime here, right?

I could see Penn State's wrestling program getting the "Death Penalty".  With the Sandusky thing happening...what 10 years ago or so and being the same University.  Wow this is going to get juicy if all these allegations are real.  I hope David Taylor, Mark Manning, Brands etc are all making phone calls this weekend because I wouldn't be surprised if the whole team are looking to transfer out.
