  1. Whatever the year was, MM cleaned up a couple things and went on the run that he is currently on. Askren said MM was being a little stubborn, but became a bit more receptive to change after that performance.
  2. Spencer Lee, Nick Suriano, and Gavin Teasdale have entered the chat.
  3. A lot of people beat Mesenbrink. That was his junior year, right? After that Super 32 , he has maybe two domestic losses? Carr and Burroughs?
  4. Is Nelson still on the squad?
  5. Would be interesting to see a compilation of this in a week. Great topic.
  6. Royce Alger, Iowa Rob Koll, UNC Spencer Lee, Iowa John Smith, Oklahoma State Carlton Haselrig, UPJ Tom Brands, Iowa Kendall Cross, Oklahoma State Jack Cuvo, ESU Brent Metcalf, Iowa Jeff Prescott, PSU Jesse Jantzen, Harvard Austin DeSanto, Iowa Nick Gwizdowski, Binghamton/NC State Kyle Snyder, Ohio State Lincoln McIlravy, Iowa
  7. AZ State w/o Sunkist money. Is that the issue? Zahid. Parco. Teemer. Figs? Munoz the first to leave? Understandable situation.
  8. Nagao is apparently unable to wrestle at the moment, so he should prob be removed.
  9. This is it for PK, I think. Although med redshirts are super easy to get now.
  10. I'm not sure what this "wrestle more freely" mumbo jumbo is, but Lee averaged more points in his NCAA finals appearances than did Brooks. In Brooks four finals appearances,he averaged 5.25 points, while Lee averaged 5.67 points in his three appearances. So what does wrestling more freely mean if it is not scoring more points? Is it a little tingle you get while watching Brooks wrestle?
  11. Not so sure... HWC has won quite a few more Olympic medals than the NLWC. And Brooks wrestling more freely? There was a lot of ankle sitting without attempts to turn his opponent for a large portion of his career.
  12. Under review, it may have been close. I assume they have better video and time stamps down to tenths of a second, so that helps.
  13. I just watched. In my professional opinion, he was about a second late starting his count. He made sure the reversal points were presented very clearly, but it seemed this took about one second from the time criteria was met. He was not in criteria until his left shoulder was on the mat. One elbow doesn't do it. That being said, the ref is far better than I am and has much better mechanics, while I have access to instant replay.
  14. I think it was the primary topic of the episode. April 6 2022. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/cenzo-willie-join-jb-to-discuss-nil-the-poaching/id1475498491?i=1000556455691
  15. I like Cenzo, but that podcast was not a great look for him. He actually sounded as if he were choking back tears. Very emo and not the type of composure you would hope to see from a coach.
  16. I think for legal reasons, it is probably a good idea to have coaches in the corners. Everyone is open to liability if there isn't an adult in the appropriate place. As a ref, I will not start a match if both athletes are not represented by an adult coach. A coach, not a fellow wrestler, not the girlfriend, not mom- an actual coach.
  17. I can forgive that one. July 11, 1804 is the one that really bothers me. New Jersey!!!
  18. If he had gone to Iowa in the first place, he wouldn't be dealing with all of these injury issues.
  19. Keep this in mind regarding all future posts, not just ones made by people you disagree with! (A gotcha moment of your own?)
  20. I think a good idea is to not notice ticky-tack things like that. I have a lot on my mind when I ref! (aka discretion)
  21. You'd better have your rulebook handy when you bring the guy to the table for that (pages 12 +17 btw)
