Melvin hasn't gone up much the last two years, has he? Been 157lbs. Was it a case that he went to 157 for team purposes and has since grown in to the weight, or?

Is there no chance that Miller comes out, similar to Forrest, and is 157lbs? That or Henson and Gaj man the 149/157 spots and Nininger goes 165lbs, because Nininger handled 74 KG just fine today.

I think it 100% makes sense to be able to get the spot through Seniors. Hell, I even think that you should be able to get the spot for U20s through Seniors as well. All Bassett did by being forced to go the U20 WTT route is risk hurting himself. Blaze/Forrest should also get that option at 61 KG and not have to go through the trials process (which they chose Seniors over U20s. That said, I don't think 'Coaches choice' should be the option. Not unless the U23s champ (and probably even #2-#3 options) is unable to go. I think it's bullshit, honestly. I would think they go with the U23s Champ rather than an alternate choice, but they don't have to.

I don't know where he goes. Especially if the 5 for 5 is to be an actual thing. He failed in a descent down to 57 KG (~125.5lbs) in December, so I don't think he is a 141lber. I don't think he is beating Blaze at 133lbs, or Desmond/Davis at 141lbs, for that matter. Not at Folkstyle.

Father time is undefeated... That said, he has said quite a few times that he 'obviously still wants to compete' but hasn't really committed one way or the other. That makes me think that he is going to make one last go of it... and that one last go is for 2028. By giving 2028 one last go, I think he goes 2027 to try to get that bye to the semi-finals (if he goes 79 KG, for 74 KG or 86 KG) or outright goes 74 KG for a bye to the finals.

Henkel losing twice to Gaitan does not bode well for him. Even if it was Freestyle. For reference: He beat Brock Mantanona in two straight 10-0 sub 2M30S for the U20 79 KG spot last year. Now he's lost to Gaitan, albeit at Freestyle. The same Gaitan that was decked twice this collegiate season by the other Mantanona brother - who wrestles the same exact style. I'm not actually concerned... just created arguments for discussion.

Ruiz needs a last second takedown to beat a skating Swiderski 5-4 then puts it on Downey 12-4 in Round 1 of the Best of Three finals. Swiderski has held his own here.

Stiles loses to Antoniov via 10-0 Tech then Birden beats Antonio via 15-5 Tech the next round. Stiles did not outperform Birden.

The criteria is different than year's past. It used to be 1st, 2nd, 3rd at Seniors then U23 champ. Now it is 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th at Seniors, then the National coaches choose. U23s is weird.

I say it because he seemed wishy washy when DT was named HC. The other guys double downed, he didn't do so in the same manner. Vega switched commitments, Forrest came out of HS mid-season, and Robideau obviously bought in. Dee showed regression throughout the season and there was no whispers of injury. If there wasn't regression, then others got better and he did not. I am probably just annoyed because he obviously has talent... he just wants to play the Focus game of hanging out on his knees. It is embarrassing to watch, for me. I wouldn't have advocate any of my kids model a style after his, when facing elite competition.

I don’t think they redshirt clause benefits anyone that was class of 2025 or younger. Also, Norman at 174lbs next season, right?

It honestly looks like he is more interested in the title of 'Being a Cowboy' than actually being part of DT's Cowboys.

Because I actually watched the match. We're talking Dee Locket, not Jayden James (who has improved) and David Carr (who has either regressed or is in a slump). Dee Locket. Low Effort Dee Locket. Imagine the progression he would have had if he bought in to the system the same way as Forrest, Vega, and Robideau (or Valencia or Hamiti or Pindrickson... and others). Nah. He would rather not even try the last 30 seconds of a one score match, two matches in a row... with a world team spot on the line. It won't get any easier for him.

Not when the guy destroyed the guy he just lost to in two straight matches a year ago and made little effort at the last 20 seconds of a two straight loss result.

I am curious if it is/was weight driven? I know he is a 74 KG guy, but going 174lbs for the season and going 79 KG aside for qualifying tournaments (where he goes 74 KG) might be best for him.
