  1. With the given that Shawver and Pinto are at 133/174, it would be safe to assume no further Rutgers guys. Penn State usually sends a few, but it isn't at home this year. Michigan typically sends a guy (or three). Would be cool to see that. 125 - Lilledahl against anyone at 125 in the Top 5. 133 - Would love to see Ayala - Crookham. Make Crookham earn that shot at the #1 spot by beating last season's #2. That said, with Shawver being confirmed, I'd like to see him VS Crookham. 141 - I'd like to see Ragusin against either Hardy or Stanich at 141lbs, if Ragusin is actually going 141lbs. Ragusin against Echemendia would be cool, as well. Three entirely different styles there. 149 - I'd like to see McNeil against SVN, although I think SVN - Henson makes the most sense. 157 - I want to see Kasak - Taylor again. Especially since we might not even see Kasak take the mat come B1Gs. 165 - Blaze - Caliendo is the match to make here. 174 - Mantanona - Pinto for me. Steed - Pinto would also do it for me. 184 - Any two from Focus, Sinclair, McEnelly, Welsh, Ryder, and Mantanona for me. Any two of them. 197 - Elam - Barr out the gate. That one's got to do it. 285 - Mirasola - Big Taye
  2. Man. All this hate on DJ is nasty. He puts out high volume, watchable movies. Some of them happen to be pretty damned good, too. If you want less joy in your life, stay in the lane you're in, gents.
  3. What's worse is that they were talking, maybe ten years or so ago, that they were trying to bring back D1 wrestling there.
  4. Distance between Northern Illinois and LR-Arkansas: 532 Miles, Flight Time: 1H42M Distance Between Hawaii and Ball State: 4,383 Miles, Flight Time: 10H minimum
  5. Andre Gonzales of Cal Poly is not only changing schools, but changing weights for the fourth (fifth?) consecutive season. HS Sr - 126 Tr Fr - 133 Rs Fr - 125 Rs So - 133 Rs Jr - 141 Rs Sr - 149 Was 2020 California State Champion at 126lbs, then went to Ohio State for four years. Now at Cal Poly. I thought 133 was his best weight. He had his best wrestling there and wasn't undersized (and didn't appear to be cutting too much weight), I am rather surprised we don't see him at 133lbs for Cal Poly, but is listed at 149lbs on both Wrestlestat and their Roster page. He's only 5'6" so I don't know how I feel about that. Funny enough, the preseason 'favorites' are all 'OSU' guys. Brock Herman, Little Rock (tOSU) Andre Gonzalez, Cal Poly (tOSU) Noah Tolentino, Oregon State (OSUW) Steve Caday, Cal State Bakersfield (nOSU)
  6. Where TF did they come from? That is insane. Legitimately zero holes. Like... lets see a dual against a Davidson or a Sacred Heart...
  7. Doesn't USC have a Methodist background, as it were?
  8. With how Grad Transfers work now, I wouldn't be surprised to see an upper classman on the move, like Trephan last season. Michigan has a need, so I am sure they have feelers out. Imagine a Bouzakis transfer mid-December. I don't think he has the credits to graduate, just saying.
  9. What if Group three has three 1-1 teams? Does that make Pool 2 have five teams? Jokes aside, is it total match point wins, point differential, etc... what for tiebreaker?
  10. If the invitations are based off of 2025 results, then they must also be considered for seeding purposes, right? That means Nebraska, Oklahoma State, and Iowa should get three of them, no doubt. Flip a coin between Minny and Ohio State for #4... or somehow assure us they'll be in the same pool.
  11. I am hoping he focuses on health and goes 65 KG.
  12. Oliver has been competing non-stop, in some form of athletic competition since he was four. Logan hasn't competed in many years at that sort of level. This would not be a match.
  13. Gavin Sax certified for Oklahoma? Is there something there we are missing? Might this have to do with the five years thing?
  14. Flo wouldn't have put Ragusin at 141 in place of Lemley, had there not been reasoning behind it. That is my counter to that. I am just curious the plan at 133lbs now.
  15. Good catch with Sement. I had forgotten about him. I also thought Botero was a 125/133lber lifer. They could just go with wrestler by committee as well, let the True Frosh (Botero, Sement) get their matches and let the Tanefeus, Kiser, and Flores duke it out. Also, there is Jerore, who I never thought was a large 141lber to begin with. Perhaps he makes the drop for this season. I don't think so. Pretty sure he was 145lbs in high school. He is leaner now, but still. FWIW, the Michigan roster page has Sement as 141/149lbs, Botero as 133lbs, Flores as 133lbs, Kiser as 125lbs, the Tanefeus as 125 and 133 respectively, and Jerore as 141lbs. With transfer rules, not sure if they might be expecting a 133lber, either. J/s. Wild west out there.
  16. Was hurt, I thought.
  17. That was my thinking as well. He was 121lbs for States last year, right?
  18. So curious on this... he is at 141lbs in the most recent rankings update on Flo, and he is already under 141lbs per Michigan's certification attempt(s) on Track. Is Lemley hurt? They going with Botero at 133lbs because he can only likely hold 133lbs for one season? Picking up a late grad-transfer? I know Ragusin was big in to MFS at the start of his collegiate career. This could be an attempt to get 65 KG going for him... just not sure. Edit: FWIW, Ragusin is 'still' listed at 133lbs on Michigan's roster page.
  19. We all know what that glaze is made of, too...
  20. It would be very interesting to see a dual between that Davison team and McCort. Not only because of the 'differences' in weight classes, but because McCort has no qualms about wrestling up, so we could see a Forrest-Metcalf and a Bassett-Reader matchup (145/152). Davison around that time was wrestling as tough a schedule as anybody in the country. I think they were ranked around Top 5-10, not even Top 3, and this was around the time that St Eds seemed to have their number. Also, I do believe I am mis-remembering which Davison team had the D1 wrestlers on it. It was a couple/few years prior to this one (I think). If we're talking the Big 3 alone, if they accommodated Davison - or vice versa, I think Metcalf and Reader both beat Forrest and Bassett, but realistically speaking I think Forrest destroys anyone in the 130-140 range (easily) and Bassett loses to Metcalf or Reader in the same manner. I also think if Metcalf has Bassett, Davison could do the bump with Reader and send him after Miller, which I think Miller wins. It's all about styles for those matchups. For Forrest, he has a better chance against Metcalf than many might think. Forrest's scrambling ability might frustrate him excessively. I expect it to, even. Reader and Metcalf are huge for their weight, endless tanks, and, I think, just better at what Bassett does with forward pressure, so it's just not a good matchup for him. Miller, I think, just too fast for Reader. Too fast, too good. Reader made a HUGE trajectory leap between Junior and Senior season. Destroyer of worlds type stuff.
  21. I think he is taking a similar approach to Who's #1 that Flo does. He's inviting all the big names, but that doesn't mean they'll go. For example, Ono and Arujau are both cited there for 61 KG. Arujau is having a rather serious surgery today and Ono is focused on Penn State right now.
  22. I agree with your initial take, it just didn't include Goin or Sollars - who are still 'just' R12/R16 type guys.
  23. I agree with you, it seems. Below are their Wrestlestat rankings, which we all know are actually ratings based off results. Keep in mind, they don't include true frosh, who tend to not have any matches towards their ratings - so guys like DLock won't have anything to go off of at 165lbs. I always want the teams who are typically lower on the B1G totem poll to show out and get pretty good improvement. That said, this appears to be a saltier dual squad than individual. Wrestlestat Rankings (ratings): 125 - #16 Moran 133 - #66 Frazier 141 - #39 Porter 149 - #61 Butler 157 - #41 Lowery 165 - #20 Lillard 174 - #29 Gilcher/#66 Rogotzke 184 - #14 Goin 197 - #12 Sollars 285 - #43 Pavlechko Five NQ looks about right with that roster. I could see two more as a maybe, but that would have to mean everyone is healthy at the right time of the year and improving at a more drastic rate than their B1G counterparts. Both of those holding as true by the end of the season are rarely the case, unless you are Penn State, or Michigan's Team #100 and B1Gs are at home.
