  1. James Green said he was walking around at 160 in an interview after he made his 2nd comeback (when he thought the was going 74 KG to start). He couldn't put weight on nor keep it up. It was in a Flo interview (I believe?).
  2. I think that they would have developed a lifestyle that revolved around that weight, rather than one that was in-between two weights. James Green, our GOAT 70 KG guy wrestled 157lbs and had said himself he walked around at around 160lbs in-season. Him going ~154.3lbs wasn't much of a pull, considering. We saw what happened when he gave 74 KG and 65 KG a go and it was not with success. Were we to form our weight classes to fit the next level up, we would perform better long-term.
  3. I believe one of our biggest reasons we struggle at 65 KG internationally, with our best wrestlers, is that the Zains and Johnny D's end up going 149lbs and have to do a lot to get back to 65 KG (143lbs). It can't really be denied that Johnny D was more successful for us when he was making 141lbs than he was when he went 149lbs can it?
  4. Holding his own is fine and dandy. He was still 165lbs this last spring. You don't add >20lbs of function-able muscle in six months. I don't see how he is near the size he needs to be to keep it close to Starocci.
  5. You'd root for an alleged 'r' word over a punk? Doesn't seem ethically correct.
  6. Do we see Rocco at 184 for tOSU now moving forward?
  7. Please do.
  8. I have it 33-4 in favor of OSU, with the win coming via Major at 149lbs.
  9. I agree with everything you have said. I also think that is something specific to the USA. There are countries that push out better lower weights because it suits their team makeup and there are those who push out better upper weights for the same reasoning. If 55 KG was still the weight class (it is for MGR, fwiw), for MFS, then you'd see the major players still making that weight with very little issue (Russia/Iran/Japan, etc.). The USA is bigger than other countries on average, and it really isn't that close.
  10. A beer at Natties is probably $20. Pretzels $10. It isn't going to be a plural thing.
  11. Yeah, I am not sure why he is on that hill. The guidelines are and have been clear for years: Ranking points. AE did not get any points for her title at 72 KG the prior year. Everyone else did for their 68 KG results, as well as ranking events.
  12. Minnow is saying he was in Stillwater.
  13. They're the first fan any wrestler has...
  14. Are you heading to Natties or B1Gs this year? I am currently planning on both right now - unless something gives.
  15. There are more youth league fans than premier league fans strictly off pure numbers of competitors and their direct support/fans alone. There is more prestige higher up, but you cannot be a fan of the EPL if you were not at some point a fan youth soccer can you? I think we're beating a dead horse and are just going to have to agree to disagree. To me, pure numbers-wise, I don't see how there could be more fans and supporters for college folkstyle than there could be for our youth developmental system.
  16. I am specifically talking about an experience I had in Akron years ago. My understanding is that it's much better now.
  17. What you're going to have to accept is that what I said was what actually happened. It's really that simple.
  18. College isn't even king in the US. NCAA wrestling is nowhere near the most popular version of wrestling, even in the states. When has NCAA wrestling had THOUSANDS of wrestlers (and their fans) break a city because of too many competitors (and their fans/supporters) show up? When it comes to worldwide, there just isn't a conversation to be had.
  19. There not being enough 118lbers is not the reason there is no 118lb weight class. Every weight class was increase by 7 pounds (118->125, 126->133, 134->141, etc) due to people actually killing themselves.
  20. Wouldn't that be true for all feeder systems? There are more kids playing HS football than college. Just like there are more kids wrestling in HS and at high school events than collegiately... We will never have as many senior level athletes as we do college level athletes. That means less first tier supporters (moms/dads/significant others/etc).
  21. If we're going to act like we're above UWW (and USAW) and ignore the weight classes that they already have, then we will forever struggle to simply just maintain. High school can do the same to get to 14 weight classes: 45 KG -> 99.2lbs (100) +6 48 KG -> 105.8lbs (106) +6 51 KG -> 112.4lbs (112) +6 55 KG -> 121.25lbs (118) +7 125 -> 57 KG = 125.6lbs (125) +10 133 -> 61 KG = 134.5lbs (135) +10 141 -> 65 KG = 143.3lbs (145) +10 149 -> 70 KG = 154.3lbs (155) +10 157 -> 74 KG = 163.4lbs (165) +10 165 -> 79 KG = 174.2lbs (175) +15 174 -> 86 KG = 189.6lbs (190) +15 184 -> 92 KG = 202.8lbs (205) +15 197 -> 97 KG = 213.8lbs (220) +65 285 -> 125 KG = 275.6lbs (285) This puts us very close to the weight c lasses for the highest level of wrestling on the planet.
  22. Spanky. I did mean 165lbs, FWIW.
  23. Or we could just do the international weights - or close to them, just transposed to poundage rather than kilos(my suggested in parenthesis for sanity purposes). 125 -> 57 KG = 125.6lbs (125) 133 -> 61 KG = 134.5lbs (135) 141 -> 65 KG = 143.3lbs (145) 149 -> 70 KG = 154.3lbs (155) 157 -> 74 KG = 163.4lbs (166) 165 -> 79 KG = 174.2lbs (175) 174 -> 86 KG = 189.6lbs (190) 184 -> 92 KG = 202.8lbs (205) 197 -> 97 KG = 213.8lbs (220) 285 -> 125 KG = 275.6lbs (285)
  24. Well Starocci didn't have RPI either, so he lost to every wrestler in that regard of the matrix.
  25. The reason for this is that it is written that the committee can step in and say 'WAIT. This is wrong.' There is a limit to movement, though, right? Like two up or down, MAX? Also, if Cael had no issue with him at the 9, maybe they didn't even try to contest it? Is that a thing?
