Find me an instance of any athlete pointing to the heavens after a loss. I'm not a fan of thanking God for athletic successes in general, but Bo in post tournament interviews is consistent when he says things like "I would have loved to come out with the win today, but you know, God has something else planned for me, so I'm just going to continue to trust in him and continue putting in the work and getting better." He is one of the humblest high school wrestlers in defeat that I have seen. I'm not even necessarily a Bo Bassett fan, but the hate he gets from grown men leads me to frequently feeling the need to defend him.4 points

I feel exactly the same. I've never rooted for him in a match, but it's silly how he gets treated. Up above in this thread he gets bashed for being too loud and then bashed for being too quiet after that. Here he is getting knocked for being too Christian and not Christian enough. If people want to find things to attack a HS kid for, they're always going to find those things. I wish more of the kids I coached were obnoxious and super hard working. I'd have a pretty easy job if the biggest issue I dealt with as a coach was a kid knew where the camera was.3 points

"Shintoism has a deep connection to the Japanese landscape and agricultural cycles." Cornell ag school confirmed!!! "It also involves the worship of ancestors" Ahh crap, nevermind. Dake barely has his driving permit at this point and he's getting younger by the day.3 points

Circa 2010ish the Buffalo Bills had a WR (I think Stevie Johnson) who dropped a wide open game winning TD against the Steelers and when asked by the press after he said he didn't know why God did him dirty like that (can't remember the exact quote)2 points

Even though, the seedings are a result from various wrestlers attending, placing,(AND winning) various ranking tournaments... it IS surprising to see that only FOUR (Lee #1 @ 57Kg, Valencia #4 @ 86Kg, Trent Hidlay #8 @ 92Kg, & Synder #3 @ 97Kg) are seeded. Much like the U20, the Senior World Championships will start off w/ the FS tournament 1st, on Saturday, September 13. (61, 70, 86, and 125 kg) For some... pairing off w/an unseeded American may be a dangerous draw. (Wyatt HENDRICKSON anyone? ) D31 point

Move this 13 time offender in Chicago alone up on the list. He should stay in the country right ? He’s an illegal alien to boot1 point

Americans are tired of stories like this. How many more times should this guy have been arrested and let go? I posted earlier a 19 time felon in Chicago was surprise caught again assaulting civilians1 point

I'm with you. I was pretty neutral on the kid until he talked about VT in his final schools but seeing the hate he gets has pushed me towards defending him and ultimately rooting for him to do well even before that. It's especially weird when you have people celebrating a loss when he's repping team USA.1 point

Bouzakis ain't going 125 and I don't think Shumate is an upgrade over Fishback even if he dropped down. I think this roster is a trophy contender on a very good day but more likely a 6th or 7th type team. Too many guys who could place high on the podium, but could also fail to AA. Going into this season, I wouldn't expect an AA at 125, 165, 184, or 197. I'd love to be wrong and see a jump from the guys at those weights, but I'd have to see it before I put a lot of faith in them. With only 6 guys you are realistically expecting to make the podium, that just doesn't leave a lot of room for error in March.1 point

The kid is annoying. I just re-watched his 2024 U 20 tournament. After every win, he knows exactly where the camera is. Pointing, mugging, pounding his chest and makes sure he points to the heavens. But when Japan teched him there was none of that. No pointing to the heavens for the lesson?1 point

It’s not so much that what the NG guard was actually doing in the particular instance that concerns me, it’s the opening of the door of putting the military on our streets for law enforcement activities, and the slippery slope that follows walking through that door. It’s the prospect of slowly normalizing the use of military troops to police citizens that concerns me. As for your question about military police my answer would be no. 1) Because it’s military troops policing citizens on American city streets, and 2) because MP’s are not trained in policing citizens/residents on American streets, they are trained in policing military troops on military bases, etc.1 point

Finally caught up with U20 after my annual week long backpacking trip I know it's illogical to relate U20 success to potential senior world success but I can't help but be hyped! Predicting 4 golds: Lee, Zahid, Trent, Wyatt both the high schoolers get to the bronze medal match but lose Carr and Snyder nab bronze medals. The latter immediately bolts out of the arena into the Croatian night where his whereabouts are unaccounted for 6 whole azz days1 point

57 RBY isn't going to medal. Stop it. Spencer is win or bust, and honestly I feel for the guy in that regard in a way that is just brutal. Imagine being the absolute best in the world, and it's just doing your job. After losing the biggest match of your life.... again. We do not appreciate Spencer Lee. I do not want him to become the Kolat of this vintage. 61 Pump the brakes. Let's be happy with a win before we declare gold. 65 If Woods wins a match or two, it's a success. IL is rooting for you! 70 Gomez is being touted as a medal favorite... unless he puts himself on his back or gets gassed. Again, IL is behind you but the copium is already getting strong. Duke? See Forrest and last sentence. 74 Carr is a strong medal threat. Slick as it gets and he has found F-U mode it feels like. That's a good thing. 79 I have literally no clue what to expect, other than we will reflect on these results much more positively in 2028 than we will in a couple weeks. 86 Zahid is a medal and finals threat. The question everyone wants to know is if Taylor has patched up the gaps. 92 Same as 79, Hidlay and Haines can go nuts and win world titles or BBQ but until 2028 these two weights are, well, weighted less. 97 Taz will destroy everyone in his path. How do I know this? Because he did so at worlds last year on a surgically repaired bum shoulder, ya know... the kind of injury that instantly ends wrestling careers. Snyder will either silver or bronze depending if he has the same half as Sadulaev. 125 Zare will beat the ever loving shiit out of Hendrickson if they meet up. And you can check my receipts everyone knows I love Pindrickson like he loves Trump. But there are levels and chonky Gable is not Zare. Medal likely, finals possibly depending on draw.1 point

So hard to know the skill level of people in international freestyle. The league needs a season and everyone wrestling a lot more matches. Compared to high school or ncaa, we are guessing based on months and years in the past. When someone top ranked loses to someone lower ranked, it's not even considered a real upset since it happens so frequently.1 point
