I also play a little disc golf, and it's funny seeing an amazing athlete completely baffled by the way most discs turn hard to the left. It's also amazing to see (not that I doubted their genuine friendship before) that guys like DC aren't just friends when they can have fun on podcasts or in good times, but that he took the time to fly out and visit Ben in his home. I really hope this doesn't come out wrong, but as far as the wrestling community is concerned, Ben is the best person that could go through such an arduous ordeal. Between his absolutely positive outlook on most aspects of life, his support from the wrestling, MMA, and even the disc golf community, and how beloved he is by all has been so apparent over the past 2+ months. I'm not sure how many of you know (I nerded out on disc golf for a bit), but Ben has custom discs from one of the sports biggest brands Discraft. He also has a course on his property and holds an annual pro-am tournament where several of the top disc golfers in the world take part. My father-in-law passed away suddenly two weeks ago today, and between that and following Ben's unexpected journey, it is truly a reminder that none of us know when our time will come. This video brought me a lot of joy seeing even a fragile version of Ben being his truest self. Sorry for being sentimental, but this video struck me.4 points

It's a shame no one realizes the Championship Wrestling Association is having another event tonight. Folkstyle after college. Youtube it because the previous events had entertaining matches. 130lbs. Guesseppe Rea (NJ Mob) vs. Brian Courtney (Central PA Whitetails) 160lbs. Reece Humphrey (NJ Mob) vs. Sammy Alvarez (NYC Response) 170lbs. Quincy Monday (NJ Mob) vs. Jesse Dellavecchia (NYC Response) 195 lbs. CJ Brucki (NJ Mob) vs. Scott Joll (Pittsburgh Skywalkers)3 points

For my first post I figured I start with a friendly discussion of why our professional league needs to be folk style over freestyle. First Folk style is AMERICAN, it is our FOLKSTYLE. Many countries have their own folk styles (there is a Wikipedia list) and when you see the clips of their folk styles, the stands are always full. Our only tournament that tickets are hard to get is a folk style tournament. Most people only compete in folk style here in the states. Only a very select few ever go on to the Olympics. Everything about folk style is the American way. You want to score a point on the edge of the mat, you have to earn it, just trying to shove someone off a mat isn't wrestling. If you want to get out on bottom, you have to earn it. When your on top, you go for the pin, waiting on the refs for a restart is the most unamerican thing possible. Freestyle has turned its back on Americans every step of the way. Americans started dominated in the early 90s, they changed the rules to take out endurance, no over time, then the ball grab stuff, and the body lock stuff. The powers that be almost regulated wrestling out of the Olympics because they hated when Americans dominated. We need to see where the money backing this is coming from. Hulk Hogan had some shady financial connections, American wrestling don't need another "Foxcatcher" incident. My last gear grinder, we need to stop Glazin the Russians. They wrestlers are not honorable competitors. Long history of cheating for using peds, They payed officials to take medals from Americans. They started the trend of sending wrestlers to other country's. They have payed people to lose to their competitors. Yet in recent years we act like they are the best. They were the best because they cheated time and time again. (Don't use UFC as an example of them being "great" wrestlers, they hand pick who they promote, and they've been promoting Russians like, the Russians have some black mail on them.) Here's the best way to start a professional league, Individual folk style tournament, 10 weights, for a cash prize. Get our best folk stylers to come. Have 8 coaches do fantasy draft for their "team". Run a short Dual season, a dual post season, and an individual post season for a large cash purse. Just a conversation piece, but can we please stop treating Russians like they are honorable warriors.2 points

I am always amazed at how very very fortunate people are who celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. Just right place at the right time - for 60 straight years! Where does anyone get off being so lucky? Same for hard working people who have above average intellect, resilience, character, tolerance for risk, etc. Just lucky. And all of the other people who were in the same place at the same time - just bad luck. I had a computer in 1992. Bezos was just luckier than I was. Otherwise, one turn of the roulette wheel and we trade places. "There but for the grace of God" helps me deal with child leukemia. But career or relationship or other adult lifetime outcomes? Almost never luck.2 points

We all know the well respected tradition of sitting around or drinking and just naming a few random NFL or NBA athletes from over the years. I figured why not do the same right here in the offseason. I’m not talking about your well-known guys like Jesse, Delgado or Bryce Meredith. Let’s get some guys that haven’t been discussed in a second here. I will start, Jered Cortez.1 point

Abnormal people do abnormal things. Bad people do bad things. Having those bad and abnormal people do these things in our country is a side effect of living in freedom and liberty. You have to deal with abnormal and bad people doing abnormal and bad things. And still so much better than the alternative. It’s why 250 years ago people fought struggled and died so that we could deal with people doing these things in the proper way, rather than have a kings army policing the streets, with one kings opinion being what rules all.1 point

Why do wingers get so upset about this? I just don't get the hatred. Yah, that's sort of weird but he can do what he wants as long as he isn't harming others. If that makes him happy, good for him. Seriously, the wingers need to quit trying to control everybody. I also don't understand why the wingers get worked about stuff like this and then gaslight the fact that Trump was likely diddling little girls on epstein Island. The level of hypocrisy is truly staggering.1 point

I watched a clip where a stats guy, claims to be bipartisan, talked about the "stats" coming out about DC. He said the overall violent crime rate isn't always a good one to assess crime in a city, but rather just use murders as those you really can't manipulate because there is a dead body. All the other statistics that go into the violent crime rate is routinely under-reported, and/or there is a change as to how they are classified year over year and sometimes month over month. So looking at just murder rate in DC as of August 15, 2025 there were 113 at this same time last year versus 101 for this year. Maybe it is just me but if I am living in DC I wouldn't be feeling like "Yay...our city is safe again!" Again I ask, why are people so against trying to make a city more safe?? I don't understand the logic. Looking at this overall I feel bad for the DC police force as they clearly were not able to do their job...as it appears the police chief is completely incompetent along with the mayor...to me they are the ones who caused the need for the national guard to show up...and I am 100% okay with it. Hopefully, there is change at the top and the DC police force can finally do their job once the national guard leaves.1 point

I like Stanich getting Toprak off the scales rather than semi-finals. I know a loss in the semis guarantees a medal match, but he has a better chance to gas Toprak out off the scales.1 point

Thanks! Those mid 90s OSU teams were the stuff of legends. I was a little kid in the stands every week just in absolute awe. It’s too bad there aren’t more recordings. Weigel of course was later and battled injuries but when he was healthy he was a tank. You wrestled Schmidt? Have you recovered? Haha jk would love to hear more about your wrestling experience in general. The board benefits from hearing from athletes.1 point

Are we sure this Ferrari is any good/worth the headache? He's on school #5 at this point and has amassed a record of 2 - 1. He wasn't even Long Island's post season starter last year (unsure if someone beat him for the spot or it was off-mat issues). If Morgan St is trying to build a program from scratch - dunno if he's the culture fit you want and I question if he'll deliver on the mat too1 point

Ha, Trump put him in his place right from the start. The flyover with the 4 F22 raptors and stealth bomber sent him a message. You know his people were monitoring everything they could and just to remind him he ain't $h!t we showed him we're invisible. He is bogged down in Europe with the poorest country in Europe. The only thing he could do is pout and hide. You are cheering for America to lose but that didn’t happen today.1 point

I respect much of the above …. But not all of it …. Is it the American Way to be ready to flee (play the edge) and effectively run away when the situation gets tricky? That seems to be the folkstyle way with all the crap OOB that happens.1 point

there's tons of value to that show, and you're an idiot if you say otherwise. same thing with Alex Jones. say anything you want but the fact is many of the things they talk about that are considered faux pas and conspiracy become public record and ubiquitous truth in time.1 point

Ask Imar what happens if you go for a long time with a torn labrum and then come back a couple weeks too early from repair surgery if anyone needs a recent example. He went from seconds from dethroning Burroughs to career is over in a heartbeat. Bum shoulders are to wrestling what torn ACLs were to 80s pro athletes.1 point
