Yeah but who cares he doesn't have a massive boring vapid social media presence.6 points

It's crazy he can do things for money and outright say he wants to be the center of attention and then say its thanks to a person who taught people to do the opposite of both of those things. Bo seems like a motivated, well liked, mature kid. But the hypocrisy here is kind of hilarious tbh.3 points

Geezus, folks, he was mocking the incoherent post from Greenwave using a somewhat obscure meme.3 points

Poeta isn't going to land anyone from Bishop McCort anytime soon but everyone says he needs to keep the top recruits at home and last I checked... this is keeping the top recruits at home. He built the stairs to get out of the basement, now it's time to grow2 points

If the administration keeps this up all those liberals promising they would leave the United States if Trump was elected just might leave. Wouldn't that be a win.2 points

I'll join the very large group of people willing to pay $10 per egg to eat popcorn and enjoy "win" after "win" after "win." DOGE is out there delivering a three piece and soda. Super Necessary.2 points

It's okay if not every single top kid decides to go somewhere other than PSU.2 points

It crazy how much attention Bo's decision is getting while OKSt could bookend it with Ross and Jax to about a fifth of the fanfare2 points

When people claim that "merit" hiring will only benefit white male Aryans, it suggests they don't believe minorities can earn top jobs on their own merits. That's the real racism.2 points

I don't care what his age is. If we were on a football forum and someone posted a defensive end was 6' 4" 280 pounds and he was actually 6'3 275 pounds I'd post the correct info. And if what I posted was incorrect and @Interviewed_at_Weehawken corrected me then I'd give him props. You're reading too much into this. Stating a fact doesn't always mean there is an ulterior motive.2 points

No, I want Jax to come to Iowa, too. And the Raney twins. And the Moccos. JACK UP THE RENTS, BOB, WE NEED THOSE RECRUITS!2 points

And if it was about money. So what? Pay the man. NCAA athletes have been underpaid historically.2 points

Theres no proof it was about money. And the holier than thou cult of penn state is honestly gross. They do not own the rights to any wrestler based on their faith. How dare he go to Iowa we are so much more christ like! Gross2 points

Funny reading the PSU board criticize him for talking about God when it was likely driven by money. How soon they forget Aaron Nagao…2 points

Initially it didn’t dawn on them that their USaid taxpayer funding was being canceled.1 point

Cael in an interview this week addressed this very thing and said, "we are not going get anybody because of NIL money, that just goes against what we believe. We're always going to be a little slow to change, we're not very worldly as far as we approach things as a staff as a program..." Later he adds, "but at the same time you're going to take care of your kids. Penn State has a great alumni network, very loyal people." A little double speak but the general gist I got is PSU isn't going to get into bidding wars for a recruit.1 point

The same thing stopping Micic or Cuba from sending a full team the last several years. Many countries only offer the Olympic weights or will only offer 'coaching support' if they enter in Olympic weights. What that might mean is that 'yes' they can go 61 KG or 70 KG (like Gomez), but they will absolutely need to finance (or have their team) finance their trip. For RBY, it could simply be that he knows 57 KG is his Olympic weight and he knows he needs to get more reps weighing in (or around) 57 KG. Gomez doesn't seem to have issue with making 65 KG and his style allows him to be dangerous at 70 KG, still. Also, 65 KG -> 70 KG is much different than 57 KG -> 61 KG. I know it is actually a lower number difference, but I feel like you see more 65 KG guys up at 70 KG than we do 57 kG guys at 61 KG, which means your opponent's styles will be the same. In summary, to answer your question: I don't have a damned clue.1 point

In the Bloomberg article about Bob Nicols' business practices it was pretty clear that he relies heavily on lawyers and contract enforcement, especially when he has more resources than his counterparty. Given that, I cannot see him paying money without a contract in place. And if the contract is violated, I could definitely see him taking action. The main difference here is that bad PR probably has zero impact on his ability to find renters who will rent his properties, but going after a high profile wrestler could certainly negatively impact his ability to recruit other wrestlers.1 point

I think that extra ~4.5lbs has a lot to do with him keeping this close. If Lee was up 6-0 early, it tells me if that match is 125.5lbs rather than 130.1lbs that it ends after that first exchange, or shortly after on a 2nd exchange.1 point

I'm sure the sentiment would have changed once he left PSU because its "the only place that can develop guys" even though I think a year ago the margin would have been significantly worse he looked markedly better than he did at the Olympics and events leading up. A 6-2 win over Deshazer is pretty darn impressive too, that guy does not give up points.1 point

The first 90 seconds was not aired. I don't know how Lee scored the 6, so I imagine it was a take down and two guts. RBY scored a step out on a single leg and I think the later TD was a go behind. Lee did a better job than I expected with defending the quickness of RBY.1 point

maybe based on projected NCAA points not duals?? only the #1 and the #3 count; and 1 earns more points1 point

His focus after States next week is 65 KG for U20, U23, and Seniors. He said that is the perfect weight for him (right now - implied).1 point

Senior Men's Freestle 59 KG (130.1) =/= Collegiate Folkstyle 133lbs (60.3 KG) Not to mention RBY has been dieting and wrestling 57 KG (125.7lbs) since college. He is physically a different wrestler. Case in point - look at Zain at 70 KG (154.3lbs) or 149lbs (67.6 KG( VS Zain at 65 KG. Different animals. Were RBY to go 61 KG on the regular, he would be an absolute nightmare.1 point

I think Minnesota gets it. Gable will get a lot of bonus and McNelly will get some bonus. They have a lot of fringe AA guys that could help their team score1 point

I expect Barr to close the gap and possibly beat Buchanon the next time they wrestle. I'm sure Cael identified his weaknesses against Buchanon.1 point

Yeah, we're in the wild west these days. Apparently Dave Portnoy helped arrange the deal to get him. I do think the deal is spread over 4 years though, so he might still be behind Arch Manning (who just got another ridic Red Bull deal).1 point

Yes you will. He's already started doing things he said he wouldn't do and instead of pretending he'd never heard of Project 2025 it's now his playbook. I think a lot of people like you support him because you don't want to admit you fell for the lies of a career con man who is now a convicted felon.1 point

That you are not on the forums all the time is cause for celebration rather than need for apology. Thank you for the response. As always, you are a class act. Thanks for doing the rankings that we all endlessly debate. Now that I think about it, maybe slip a crazy one in there every now and again so that we have something to go nuts about. You know, liven things up a bit around here.1 point
