Manuel Saldate - #17 - 3x NV state champ, Fargo AA, Slam Academy kid with Chase Pami I believe Jeff Lopez - CA state runner up - knocked off Cortez in the semis last season. Took a break from wrestling for a couple years and came back with a bang. He has been ranked previously. Adrien Reyes - #11 CA 2x state placer, Fargo champ, #11 at 175 Not a 2025 guy, but we added a very late 2024 in Moses Mirabal - CA state champ who was originally committed to Brown.

I thought they had to at least pursue an education but I'm hearing they can take a typing course and still post. Is that right?

The man who founded and basically funded all of it retired. (Art Martori) He also bailed out ASU wrestling when it was on the chopping block. The very little inside information I have told me he had been telling them this was coming for years and he felt no one was in a position to take over and run the program to his standard, rather than hand over the reigns to someone in the program he felt wouldnt do it justice he chose to kill it entirely upon his retirement.

If so, I feel like this should be a bigger story and I have a lot of questions that probably won’t be answered Did he have anything to do with why Martori stopped funding it in the first place and/or why they changed the name? Did he have anything to do with why the Helen documentary disappeared after one day? (I was one of the probably tens of people that saw it and he was featured fairly prominently in it IIRC) Have any of the women commented on this situation? Wasn’t Perry at the Olympics? Have any of the bigger name women besides Blades announced they were going elsewhere? Seems like a pretty big deal for the best women’s club by far (four of the six Olympians had it listed as one of their clubs, three of which had only Sunkist listed) to go poof.

Yeah, it's kind of odd that they named the RTC Atreus instead of something that might you know, borrow from ASU's brand equity while also boosting it. Why not Sun Devils WC? The same goes for Rising Sun WC, which also trains out of the ASU room. I get the logic behind the name, but it also sounds like it's related to Japan? Or located somewhere out east?

Mooberry in particular should start at 197 from day one. Dawson will have some competition at heavy. Johnson also has a decent chance at starting at 165. Three starters from another program would be a lot

Amateur sports were only ever amateur for the athletes. Everyone else wet their beaks. Nick Saban wasn't able to sign a $93 million contract because we love amateurism.

T Boone was an OSU nut, believe only ~30% went to athletes. Pretty sure he had given to academics long before athletics. Dont know of any specifics one would say benefited wrestling unless some coaches salaries were endowed. Much of his recent money was reinvested to continue to grow and create more endowment. There was a period on the academic side where state would match a gift & TBP fund would match the total. So say someone gives $1M state matches $1M TBP fund adds $2M and you have a $4M endowed professorship. For wrestling its a much bigger deal to find a billionair who likes wrestling.

At some point, it will calm down, because none of the guys throwing money at the programs are THAT wealthy, I don't think. It's not like a T. Boone Pickens situation. These numbers being thrown around are great for the current athletes that happen to have been in college when this boom happened, but it will taper off.
