If you're about to give up a reverse and back points but manage to hold on long enough to get a swipe or two in the process, it isn't exactly a testament to your abilities or dig on the other guys.3 points

Lee's mistake here was that he forgot to announce his intention to go for a reversal, thus invoking the "top danger rule." (Check the Illini thread from yesterday!)2 points

A universal truth in wrestling!! If you are not pinned yet your chances are better than if you have been pinned. Your chances go down dramatically once you have been pinned.2 points

He gave up two backpoints trying for a reversal, which he got, followed by 4 backpoints, and then a fall. Yes he doesn't have a Metcalf/Brands tank. I do agree with the insight that wrestlers who don't get pinned or teched in the first period have a better chance of winning than those that do get pinned or teched.2 points

Here is the BTN video. Sequence is at about 33:15. It’s awfully close, and then there’s a second or 2 where the video isn’t at a good angle. But I think 9/10 refs aren’t going to make that call unless it’s super obvious. DeAugustino did seem to realize his position and was rolling around. Side note, but Illinois really screwed up by choosing bottom in the 3rd there, unless they didn’t care about the dual result and just wanted Renteria to get exposure to trying to get out from DeAugustino. It had been 5 minutes and DeAugustino couldn’t take him down, and you know he’s pretty tough on top (and probably the biggest 125 other than Glory). Then the final mistake was Renteria trying to go upper body in the last 30 seconds (edit: although I guess that was because he was trying to win the individual match). Side note #2 - that was probably the most action I’ve ever seen from DeAugustino in neutral, presumably because he knew he needed the major. He’s usually incredibly boring in all the matches I’ve seen of his.2 points

I’ll forgive OP for not knowing the specifics of the danger rule or thinking it matters if the defensive wrestler is trying to pin the offensive wrestler, but I think it’s a worthy debate about whether DeAugustino was pinned there.2 points

he wasn't pinned ....his upper half of his back was resting on Caldwell's torso.2 points

LOL..."why aren't they raiding his house." The DOJ negotiated for Months. Trump claimed he could declassify a document just by thinking it! The FBI went into Mar-a-Lago dressed up as employees in an attempt to minimize their exposure. Trump announced it. He wanted to play the victim. Biden on the other hand admitted his mistakes, he's not trying to obstruct. It's a false equivalency, but of course, nobody has ever been treated as badly as Trump!1 point

They're gonna ban sodomy? What the hell are the Catholic school kids gonna do for their "loophole?" I guess this'll be exclusive to same sex, huh? I feel pretty good there'd be enough GOP support to to legalize that. I mean...what would happen to Linsey's little lady bugs!1 point

You see, they don't have to go to a judge to get search warrants when you cooperate with the investigators.1 point

I heard the issue was getting Burwikkk to sign the waiver. Bono had ended practice with a “get out from bottom and we’re done”. Some say, if it wasn’t for outside interference he may still be stuck with his head on the mat.1 point

You weren't too far off, except 197 and 157. But 197 was a surprise and 157... well, what can I say...1 point

That's definitely a pin or a fall, take your pick, no "pinfall." As said, there's no "danger" as its not a neutral position but NW wrestler was flat as could be, its a pin.1 point

I always like watching someone new to coaching yelling the whole "just stand up" - granted at times you get the kid who is just laying there, but generally if it was that easy they would get up I've really stopped yelling during most matches and do the majority of tweaks between periods or any downtime (injury/blood/etc..) - honestly I think giving looks of approval and affirming what they are doing is working and providing small pointers is better than just yelling crap the entire time1 point
-
It took me years but I’ve finally started to be able to just look at them and watch them melt. It’s so much easier than yelling1 point
