  1. As my good internet buddy @MPhillips would say: the mat ... Get on It!

  2. It’s pretty sterile. 10 mats, bleachers don’t get too high so sight lines can be impacted. Too bad the Orleans Arena isn’t an option.

  3. Well . . . to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, and of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter from various differentiated perspectives and without condemning another's perspective but still trying to be objective and disinterested in my analysis, and by considering each and every sound argument, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say.

  4. Its a puff piece, but its one with a lot of candid photage of the athletes, so at least we get a little insight into how they act off the mat. Better than long build ups till the moment we finally get to find out when Pyles decided Bo Nickal was special or something....

  6. Sorry Gimp, been involved with wrestling for 55 years. I remember the Nebraska match. Actually have a recording of it. It’s the standard bearer for sure. Some new phrases heard tonight, though. “NFL position”, “Throw out”.

  7. That still doesn't explain the weight gain.

  8. It’s a destination tourney for the families attending (that is the theory, not necessarily the reality). Plus if I remember correctly from a couple decades ago the original benefactor wanted to spread wrestling out west but that could very well just be an urban legend in my brain.

  12. LMAO, I never got you banned. Why would you say such a silly thing? Even when people somewhat agree with you, you are caustic. I find it cute. Anyways, no need to get circular with you. Still laughing that you thought I got you banned. I would never in a million years want to see you banned. You and coach sparky are two of the best comedic posters of all time!

  13. Neither did I. Either I wasn't paying attention or I just wasn't in the right program.

  14. I would have to agree with all of this. In my lifetime, it's Les Gutches. I did meet Robin Reed before he passed and he was super nice to my family. Go BEAVS!

  15. Tell us how you really feel. That was too vague for me.

  16. You are not wrong. I agree that, to some extent, that is true; they may grow out of it, but maybe they won't. We have raised kids basically with two different generations. With our oldest (25), we were young parents. Now with our younger two (11) and (13), we are the older parents. This new group of parents are a massive pain in the ass, and they take helicopter parenting to a level I did not know was possible. We are not, and people think we are nuts, lol. It is fun. On a serious note, though, there is a vast paradigm shift related to culture and age, much like the late 60's into the 70's IMO.

  17. For the record, you said it not us.... - Educators may know "their arena" but only know what they know. They need help to look at it from a different perspective. Engineering (which I don't know anything about) has hard facts; education not so much. It is more philosophical. The analogy does not fit. Not all educators are dopes either.

  18. I guess we had very different experiences. I didn't get that from any of my professors or their curriculum.

  19. Really!? I've been tuning into reported news my whole life- I'm probably older than you are- and I find it three times daily. Talk to an actual trained journalist some time about who, what, where, when, why, and how. They can easily inform you how it works and that it is what their job depends on.

  21. Are you implying humanities courses are far left? I took mythology and something else I can't remember, but I didn't think The Odessey was particularly political.

  23. What about college curriculums is "far left"? I was a wildlife major, so beyond gen eds, I took courses primarily in the sciences; biology, chemistry, wildlife management, genetics, statistics, etc. I know some on the right consider evolution, a round earth, and science in general to be "far left". But nothing in my courses would objectively fall under that designation. I had plenty of peers on the right and never heard any complaining. I can't speak to business, philosophy, journalism, etc. courses, and I can only relay my experiences from the two schools I got degrees from. I think Republicans may be thrown off by the fact that some colleges are referred to as liberal arts schools. That doesn't mean what you think it means.

  27. At those lower weights it’s hard to count on them staying there for long period of time. Never know about growth spurts. Especially while they are still in high school.

  29. Most people would say that the best Oregon State wrestlers of all-time is Les Gutches (2x NCAA champ, 1996 Hodge winner, World Champion), however it is probably Robin Reed, whose career has a lot of myth and legend attached to it. Reed went undefeated from 1921-1924 and won 3 national championships. He pinned his way though the 1924 Olympics to win the gold medal. He actually won the Pacific Northwest Olympic Trials in 4 different weights. It was said he could pin every wrestler on the olympic team including the heavyweight. Below is a link to his story. https://nwhof.org/hall_of_fame/bio/29 http://oregonsportshall.org/timeline/robin-reed-wrestling/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Reed

  31. It's the individual channels/creators that roundly requested the ppv option. i won't try to convince y'all that it makes sense b/c you probably made up your mind. but it makes all the sense in the world. and at the end of the day, if you don't subscribe normally, just consider it a $25ppv. of course you can decide if that's too steep for ya or not. i would also suggest maybe considering the P&L of the events these promoters put on. (keep in mind, i don't do ppv events so this is not me trying to defend myself)
