huh? There are a number of falsehoods in your post and you are clearly overly sensitive.

Well then name them if there’s a number of falsehoods…

You don't even know which lies you're promulgating?

#sad

And why was that directed at me?  Some weird stuff, bro.

You’re confused why I responded to something you said? When you interjected yourself into the conversation?

#SuperSad

Weird stuff “bro”.

You don’t wear a track suit by any chance do you??

And still waiting for a falsehood to be named. Probably are some in there, but haven’t heard one yet.

I don't think thats a....divergent conclusion from mine. Emphasizing basics, position etc can be paralyzing. Theres so many ways to scores points in a wrestling match, being dogmatic or narrow minded about how do it certainly has a price.

Not really. The higher you go, the most you rely on the basics.

Brooks-Basics. Hand fighting, positioning, movement, Hi-C, Double, outside of head inside single.
Starocci=Same thing.

David Taylor, Kyle Dake, Snyder, Burroughs, Sadulaez, they're not going out there scoring with this wide range of moves. It's all the basics. Perfected over thousands and thousands of hours, tens of thousands of hours. Working on slight variations from the basics. Perfecting the finishes on the singles or doubles.

Spencer Lee, same thing. Heavy hands. Every once in a while a guy comes along like Bo Nickal who veers a bit outside the basics, but he was still beaten and never won a medal on the world team.

"The Basics" have changed slightly since I wrestled with more scrambling and trying to pass the legs and the scrambling now when someone gets in on a shot and they beat your hips and you need to scramble, but those are just part of the basics you have to do and know now. Levi Haines certainly stuck to the basics.

Most Wrestlers, the higher they go, the most basic their Wrestling is.

random - when I was (much) younger I used to think the most technical guys, the 'technicians' were the guys who hit moves that not many other guys did, like they knew all the tricks. took me a while to grasp that the truly elite technical guys aren't necessarily flashy like that but are the ones who master the basics and every position, angle, hand placement, head placement, weight distribution, etc. is perfect.

Don’t worry it’s working its way thru the system and he’ll be punished accordingly per PA law. And he’s currently getting a 1yr time out from wrestling. Just like Brands did when they had their little boys will be boys moment in HS.

Sounds like you have a sore spot

So, does anyone know what schools Knox is considering or have been in contact with him?

Rutgers forums are saying Okie State and Rutgers made contact.

Yup. I really interpreted that so very differently from how you worded it!

LOL... what are you talking about?

I see see an occasional clip of a headlock on Facebook or somewhere and I see these kids club Dad coaches talking about how "that won't work vs the top kids," as though... that's why coaches try and discourage the JHS Head throw superstar from going for it all the time.

Dake and Taylor had one of their workouts taped. I don't remember why they were doing it or what the project was, but they were playing around with different ways to score on a single, counters to counters, but it was ALL off just the basics. The few shots you should learn.

You learn a couple shots and you'll spend the rest of your career working on perfecting those vs Football where you learn a couple plays and you'll spend the rest of your career learning more and more complex schemes or pretty much any other sport. Maybe boxing is similar. You learn some combos and then spend your whole life perfecting them and working on movement and blocking?

Isn’t Iowa’s current coach a sex offender? Is he registered? How do they work it out for away meets and tournaments?? Does he have to notify local police when he’s in town to coach??

Maybe I'm the only guy who actually read that document! So what ultimately happened, was he held out of state his Sr year? We know he went on to glory at Iowa.

You may have been up until now.

Iowa wrestling Hall of fame has him winning a state championship as a senior in 86.

Understandable. For the academic year, 1986, Brands won the state title. But the state title for 1986 wasn't decided until the Iowa state tournament in, if I'm guessing correctly, March 1987 (or maybe February). If you read the document you see that part of it is related to Brands seeking to be able to wrestle at the state tournament.

Who uses academic year? Going by that, he graduated in 86 too.

How do you win the 86 title in 87? Did Antrell Taylor win a title in 24?

Isn’t there some kid on the psu team who last year got super drunk.  Acted a fool… was fighting with the folks at the house he was at.   Refused to leave said house.   and while getting apprehended resisted arrest and ran away only to get caught.   Wonder if we will ever know this “kids” name

Incident Details
  • The Confrontation: Police were called to the Tau Kappa Epsilon house on East Prospect Avenue after the 20-year-old All-American refused to leave the property.
  • The Escape Attempt:When questioned by police, Davis allegedly used a friend as a shield before attempting to flee on foot.
  • The Struggle: After being tackled, Davis reportedly "wrestled" with an officer, leading to the destruction of police equipment, including a wristwatch, a radio earpiece, and a body camera.
  • Intoxication Levels: A breath test and medical records later revealed a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.225%, nearly three times the legal driving limit. He was eventually transported to a hospital for a suspected alcohol overdose.

Legal Status and Consequences
  • Charges: Davis faced multiple charges, including resisting arrest, evading arrest, criminal trespass, underage drinking, and public drunkenness.

Resisting arrest is a fun night?  Also not being able to get an escape on a police officer may be embarrassing.  Video showed he tried.
