Decent amount of AWA guys going to or already at Minnesota. Hoping they have a shot there. Whether he’s a 165 or 174 that’s round peg meet round hole.

I’m hoping it’s Mizzou. Might be the year after next, but O’Toole will move to 174, and Mitch could slide right in at 165. If Mitch can hold 157 for next year, he would probably be the instant starter replacing a graduated Jacques. Then make the move up the following year.

Minnesota maybe. They have a committ, Charle Millard, an AWA kid around the same weight. I’m sure if they got Mitch they would figure it out lineup wise.

Ethan Riddle is a 174 from AWA coming in as well. I’d imagine that Millard 157, Mesenbrink 165, Riddle 174 would work just fine.

Millard and Riddle are around 15-20 at their weight class nationally. Messenbrink was the #1 ranked guy at 152 in a weight class that included Cody Chittum, Caleb Henson, Hunter Garvin, Meyer Shapiro, Daniel Cardenas, etc... Not quite the same level recruits. You do whatever you can to get Messenbrink IMO.

Yeah I wasn’t necessarily bringing them up to say they are reasons to not bring Mesenbrink in, more so to say that he would already have two guys around him that he already knows well.

Riddle is likely a depth guy, long shot to be a factor in the lineup. Millard though I think can be a good starter.

Exactly what I was thinking about Mizzou, familiarity. O’Toole, Spray, Mocco, Pfleger, Whitling and Aeoden Sinclair all are already at Mizzou or on the way. Maybe even a couple I missed. Adding Mitch would only help in the chase for our first Natty Championship.

Yeah, well, I think our U of M is cooler.

Wasn't there a video of him saying he was done with college and focusing on freestyle?

Yeah.  Askren reiterated that it meant for the season all the while telling Pyle he was a dummy.  It was great.

Lots of places could use him.  Not many places that couldn't.  The only unlikely destination would be Wisconsin, as funny as it sounds.  Based on the Bono and Askren beef.  I think only Josh Otto went from Askren Academy to Wisconsin of the current team.

Mesenbrink has trained with James Green. Not saying that gives VT an inroad but James liked VT and there is a RTC there

James Green went to Nebraska, and they have/had some rather good freestylers through there.

I don't think for a second either will be his destonation.

If he went to Nebraska to coach after Manning, they'd be my new favorite team.  I would like to see James Green head coach there some day if Burroughs doesn't go for it

Serious question, but what happened between Bono and Askren?
