Enjoyed the event! I need help in my argument that girls wrestling is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. as Burroughs stated it in the broadcast. I repeated it and got into an assertive discussion. His counter argument is that its not event the fastest growing girls sport in High School. Just want some data by smarter people than me, so I don't have to concede to this high school girls flag football father. If I am wrong than I'll take it and try harder to grow women's wrestling with my daughter. Thanks!

Did someone turn on the WKN signal?

Per the NCAA between 2018-19 and 2022-23 (the last time data was available) women's wrestling is far and away their fastest growing sport at +1,469%. The next closest is men's rugby at 142%.

Drowning in data, but thirsting for knowledge

Pickleball is the fastest growing hobby. But, sport? Come on. Your first link is from AARP. That tells you everything you need to know. If you click on the link you are likely to find out that knitting is the second fastest growing.

But pickleball is the perfect sport for wrestlers cause they are old when they leave college.  I have no data on what other sport in which swimmers can excel.

Guys of Welsh’s caliber just don’t “show up” places without involvement from the head coach. You think Welsh isn’t getting a dime in scholarship/NIL money?

Carl had nothing to do with it. Now if you told me Cody Sanderson left a gym bag full of bibles and buckaroos on a dark shadowy night...

Gym bag full of "book of Mormon" - even though the last "Prophet" told one and all that saying Mormon was "A Victory for Satan".

Speaking of pickle ball...

Before anyone knocks it, maybe you should try it and speak from experience?

(I mean pickle ball, definitely not bnwtwg with pants down. That's just gross.)

Was there Saturday.  It was pretty upsetting to see a usually rowdy RAC so empty.  Think that place at its most packed can really have you hanging on the edge of your seat.  The shoehorned fan service stuff they had in between matches made for some unbearable wait times by the end (especially as we approach hour 4 of the event).  I've been to matches that have approached equally long periods of time, and they have managed to keep me more entertained without trying as hard.  Still, there was great wrestling to be had all throughout.

Ryder remains the obvious highlight of the whole event.  Even my dad, a borderline casual fan, had to admit he was really wowed by the kid's style.  I think he's gonna make Cael & co. regret recruiting over him all season.  Good matches with Ventresca and Ruiz as well!

It's low-hanging fruit to say that 197 was the low point of the entire evening, but really, it was 8 minutes of nothingness.  Think that the Bastida headgear situation might have beat though for how soul-sucking it was.

Surprised no one has really mentioned Ty Watters yet . Missed almost all of last season and returns up a weight class against one of the stronger 157s in the country and wrestled really well. I thought it was a great match with good action and the takedown in OT was one of the slickest you’ll ever see. It even had JB impressed

Still have this and the baseball version...💪

I picked one up at Walmart about 10 years ago, brand new. I don't know if they did a reissue or if WalMart found a crate dated to 1979!! I didn't own one when I was a kid, I just had to share whatever was passing around the wrestling bus. My family was so poor I barely had wrestling shoes!

The top pickleball professionals earn around a 250k - 1 million a year with tournament winnings and endorsements. Ben Johns is the top men’s player aged 26 and Anna Leigh Waters, the top female player is 18. I’m 52 and love the game as it’s very competitive. Former college wrestler.
