Weirder than going back to the UofM to help the old teammates win a title?

He never wrestled at Michigan.

That isn't weird. Avoiding wrestling himself while in his prime to try out for pretend wrestling, professional football, MMA, grappling, and now dirty boxing, are all weird, and getting weirder.

Yeah, not a fan of the career path unless he becomes UFC champ (as Jon Jones predicts he will)

If he is struggling to get MMA fights I guess its cool hes trying to compete a lot. I would imagine most regional guys do not want to fight him. I think his base already seems a bit better than Bo's although that could be accentuated by the extreme skill disparity between heavyweight and every other division.

wanted to highlight some guys that made the switch relatively recently from wrestling to MMA

Meredith: 7-1 PFL
Nick Picc: 8-1 Fury FC
Jacobe smith: 11-0 (I think he can be a champ he is really really good) UFC
Archie Colgan: 12-0 PFL

Like Lesnar before him (NFL, UFC), Steveson's first priority seems to be chasing what he thinks is easy money.

Whatever path he eventually chooses, he's going to have to work harder than he seems to be right now.

Good luck to him.   What is dirty boxing?

It's the boxing version of muy thai. Thin gloves, clinches and throwing elbows are allowed.

This is a weird take.  I've heard lots of things said about Lesnar.  I've never heard that he didn't work hard.  If Gable is following the Lesnar route then he is working plenty hard.

Well, he is moving away from the world of sport and into the realm of prize fighting and showmanship.

I think it's pretty common for prize fighters (aside from maybe top prospect boxers) to take fights in multiple styles.

It's only weird if you don't have the variety and level of skills Gable has.

When you could be successful at multiple professional sports. It becomes a difficult choice.

A difficult choice that neither you, nor most of the population, can imagine having to make.

I agree with you. I would vote for wrestling. But neither of us gets a vote. Nor should we.

May be it’s not so much a getting a vote but having an opinion - which has far less formal restrictions and generally considered allowed….
