Could Pindrickson catch him?  Maybe Kerk could edge him in a close match?

I think Cohlton Schultz, who cuts 50+ pounds to make 285, has the best shot.  I could see him possibly catching Gable in a throw and pinning him with his bulk.  That said, I favor Steveson to bonus his way through Big 10s, NCAAs and win the Hodge again.

Answer is nobody, but to aid in discussion I think Wyatt choosing top is the best bet. I know he's been wrestling most of the year, but I wonder how much mat wrestling Gable has done especially on bottom. The only time I have seen him look mortal in the last 5 years is when Geno gutted him twice. Which I know is very different than a turn in folk but if someone gave me Captain America at +10000 to slap a cradle on him, I would throw 5 dollars on it.

Kirk, maybe with Cael & Co gaming a good plan for him.

Wyatt Hendrickson of OSU, maybe. He has the size & speed - not sure about the confidence.

I still wonder if Kerk or Hendrickson took him into the 3rd in a close match if they miiiight be able to wear him out and get a late takedown. I’ve thought that would be the only chance and that he possibly might not be in as good of wrestling shape as he’s been in the past. There haven’t really been any signs of that, however.

Hendrickson if he taps into some sort of Arujau-level god mode.  It's a 5% chance at best, but he's got the best chance in the field.  Kirk doesn't have the variability in performance to bring that level of upside to his performance.

Didn't realize Kyle Snyder was bumping up to heavyweight to throw cradles. That's the only Captain America 'round these parts.

I think you are referring to Officer Farva

The answer is no one.

Kerk has wrestled him about as tough as anyone since his freshman season, but he's the only one I see holding it to a regular decision and I'm not super confident in that prediction.

Hendrickson would get majored, at least.

I've been thinking a little about this since the Feldman match.  Specifically at the 10:18 mark.  I think it comes down to your half empty/half full take on what happened there.  Feldman made a great shot and got in quite deep.  So does that represent a glimmer of hope that an athletic heavy might be able to get a takedown against Steveson?  Or does the fact that Steveson INSTANTLY, IMMEDIATELY broke out of it mean he is so f'ing good that even the very best move of a good opponent (at a time when Steveson's guard was down at the end of a match) is like child's play to him?  I think it's probably the latter and agree that muscle man Hendrickson taking top and Gable taking bottom and Hendrickson with two chances somehow turning him is probably the only realistic chance, and it's somewhere in that 1/10,000 range mentioned above.

You think the guy who scored 4 points in 5 seconds at the end of the olympic finals is going to be worn out? Maybe if he gets injured and can't get on the mat before NCAAs.

LOLOLOLOLOL! You think Schultz could ever beat Steveson? He'd have to learn how to wrestle first.

I think you're missing the difference between a young man who was training to win the peak event for a wrestler, vs a guy who left the sport to chase WWE and the NFL. When it comes down to talent, there is no question where Gable falls, but I think it's fair to question how much of his heart and soul is going into training and how bad he will want it if he has to go to deep waters. I think it's fairly clear that no one is predicting an upset, but if he loses, it is more likely that he isn't as invested as he was previously and that the gas tank could be a reason.

You gonna split him like a wish bone too?

Naw, I actually like the kid. Just because I hate the way he wrestles doesn't mean I dislike the kid personally.

This one had me thinking during my whole commute to work today.  I first of all can't believe Schultz has to cut that much weight to make heavy at this point.  But I can see him not making podium before I see him even having a chance to upset Steveson.  He's going to tiebreakers with dudes in the mid-20 rankings.

Kerk. His top game is as good as anyone if the key is to ride Gable.

Just remember that when Gable was a freshman the answer was "nobody" until Cassar beat him. Twice.

I don't think he gets a chance on top, unless he picks top.  Gable chooses neutral.
