All Cowboys finished above their seed.  Spratley and Hendrickson wrestled to their seed.  Great first tourn. for this new regime under Coach DT!

I really thought that looked like at least 2 back points for Downey before the reversal, but must be wrong as the refs reviewed and the flo guys didn’t think it was either.

Definitely looks like at least 2 to me

Norman impressed though, looked like the better guy in neutral.  Choosing down in the 3rd was a mistake, should have tried to win it in your best position.

I completely agree. But to be fair,  you want to test bottom here rather than in march. Winning CKLV is big, but knowing where you are might be more important moving forward. But like you said, Norman looks like a legitimate top 3 contender that shouldn't be taken lightly. He looked really powerful. Interested to see how he progresses in the next few months.

Not a ref, but I counted four. He didn't sit up beyond 45 degrees at any point. His back was facing the mat for a four count.

Final CKLV question:

First tournament under DT coaching staff.

Did the cowboys impress or meet expectations? They have a lot of studs that were heavily favorited, especially in the earlier rounds, but I thought they pushed the pace more than they usually have over the last handful of years (looking for bonus instead of coasting to a win for example). But, once the matches got tougher, they admittedly looked more similar to what we are accustomed to seeing. Nevertheless, impressive showing for the pokes and the Taylor regime.

Cowboys look better both at CKLV and their early duals.

Granted, DT has a better lineup than Smith had the past few years and I'm guessing that lineup quality will continue to get better with each new class.

I don't think anyone was saying this about them in the past few years.

Welcome to the board!   Very good point, while this loss may have put you at a bigger risk for facing KOT/Haines before the semis in March, getting that feel and knowing what you have to work on makes you a better wrestler in three months.  Could go either way...

Blaze MFF to 6th, seems like he was healthy and this was more preventative. I’m not a fan of this but Ersland is not known for sitting guys, I like the intent of  pitch counting your best guys to peak at NCAAs.

Matt Ramos, walked through this tbh. His biggest challenge in my eyes was going to be Robinson but that didn’t pan out. I was also worried about Caleb Smith on the bracket since they’ve split matches before, but we didn’t see him.

I think it should have been at least a couple of points, but this is not the rule. He did not have a shoulder or head on the mat, so the 45 degree part of the rule does not come into play.

"Near fall criteria are met when: (1) the offensive wrestler holds the defensive wrestler in a high bridge or on both elbows; (2) the offensive wrestler holds any part of both his opponent's shoulders or scapulae (shoulder blades) within four inches of the mat; or (3) the offensive wrestler controls the defensive wrestler in such a way that one of the bottom wrestler's shoulders or scapulae, or the head, is touching the mat, and the other shoulder or scapula is held at an angle of 45 degrees or less to the mat."

Any word on robinsons's injury?

Also, any idea if Larkin will ever make an appearance at 149 for ASU?

Willie's latest crystal ball said Larkin is out, potentially for the year

This morning it still showed Teague, FWIW.  They are just regurgitating what was given to us at CKLV.

Taylor interviewed by Pyle and says that Travis is going to get a medical RS

Exactly.  It "looks" like points, but it is NOT according to rules,  This was a correct call.  No points,

I was extremely excited to finally see Fish and Saldate toe the line.  I was actually hoping it would be at 165lbs this year (wherever they went), but not unhappy it happened at 157lbs.

I was surprised by the result, even if it looked like Saldate had no interest in being out there (backside).

I so wanted to see this match that I had penciled them in as finalists (HAHA!).

Also Fish winning via 11-0 over Iowa State's Johnson?  Also backside, but still.  It will help come seeding.

With how Frost performed at 141lbs are we still certain we see everyone drop next month?  Chittum arguably performed the worst out of Frost, Echemendia, Johnson, and himself.

"I know actually nothing.  It isn't even conjecture at this point." - me

A slight bone of contention here...

Just reading thru

by Austin Sommer.

Cornell ended the weekend with an 18th team finish. Below is a list of place winners with along with notable wins

125: Marcello Milani – 8th

Notable wins - #12 Robinson (NC State), #6 Jordan (South Dakota State)

#1... Milani's win vs the highly regarded Vince Robinson was a medical forfeit. Hardly notable when there wasn't any wrestling involved, eh?

AND...

#2... How was a victory over Tanner Jordan of So.Dakota State notable, when it was Jodan who won the 7th place match by majorD, 8-zip?

Just sayin'...
