Gable is a beast and have respect for the guy, but could care less if he's coming back to college wrestling 1 more year. Won't change the team race and he won't have a problem with the field. Now if he comes back for Okie St or Iowa, now that adds a little drama to the party but looks like hes staying faithful to Minny.

Nebraska cant leave them out. I know they are in need of a HVY. That would also be very intriguing.

I’d guess he walked away from a lot of money to come back to Minnesota. Maybe Walz redirected some campaign funds to the Gophers.

If you only watch college wrestling for the team race you then you haven't seen much drama in a while. 

Gables return makes the HWT individual bracket more interesting.  Even if Gable is a lock to win, you now get Wyatt H v. Greg K on Friday night (if ranking hold). Also the battle for seeds becomes more interesting with them and Feldman and Younger to be on the opposite side of the bracket.

I thought that in order to qualify for an Olympic redshirt you at least have to compete or place in a qualifying tournament.  Is it just the fact that he was the defending Olympic champion that afforded him the year?

Yes. The criteria are results based (how did you do in specific tournaments?) rather than actions based (did you prepare for or participate in OTT?).

NCAA needs to stop him for claiming an Olympic Redshirt and not even signing up for the trials.

He is gaming the system as bad as the T-Rump/

Supposedly Ferrari got one as well.

As far as the Olympics go, I’m more just disappointed he didn’t try to qualify if he does actually still want to wrestle.

I also wouldn’t pencil him in as the automatic champ this season.

He earned the right to use it however he saw fit, not how you (and everyone who didn't qualify for one) sees fit.
