The OP said something along the lines of Opens were held to give non-starters and red shirts a place to wrestle. I said that Opens were held to.make.the host school money. CMSU/ UNO and others opens might have 400 wrestlers and 10 mats @ $20 per wrestler, it was a nice shot of income for smaller programs. These big tournaments died a decade + ago. Not sure why Opens are still a useful tool for fund raising and also a great place to get matches not sure how 5 for 5 alters who goes since non starters still want mat time they can still go on their own dime just like before and if the team wants to go, the team can pay the individual fees just like before

There is a large pool of recent grads that will jump.at a GA position or a under 40k coaching gig just to get a foot in the door.

Its typical. Athletic admins know that they can position next to nothing because if you don't like the wages somebody else will. Many more kids want to coach tan jobs available

Not every school can have additional revenue streams like camps and RTCs. Many of you guys are stuck in the D1 bubble (power schools at that). Many D2s, D3s NAIA and JUCO programs rely on GAs as assistants and volunteer hang arounders .

Head coaches at some some D2 & D3 schools aren't well paid at all.

Really? Their fans were extremely obnoxious when they were winning.

Every team.that I know of that had Multi years of NCAA titles have fan bases that make me hate the fans and only want the teams struggle to pee on the fan bases parade. Cowboys, Gophers, Hawks, PSU at the D1 level. D2s it was Omaha, NDSU, St Cloud and Kearny. D3 it was Augsburg. Two successful teams that didn't give me the ick were UCO Broncos and The Wartburg Knights.

So it sounds like many on here want asterisks ***** and/or footnotes on season records when teams beat a team they "shouldn't " have.

Good teams win ! Great teams win when the chips are down and all isn't right with the universe .

I wonder since 5 for 5 only applies to D1, could a D2/3 kid that has completed their 4 years with no red shirt now transfer to a D1 school and get a 5th year?

The only team that gains from.that dual is OSU. If the win, it a huge boost, if they lose, they are supposed to. Even a gold showing does OSU good.

A huge portion of the show is dedicated to topics not really important at all. Singlet wars, wtf? Silly questions from viewers ? Lots of talk.about their weekend adventures. Not real professional
