Has he officially moved from a rascal to a rapscallion? Possibly even a scalawag, miscreant, knave, or dare I say scoundrel?

The police didn’t catch him until a day later.  I reckon that’s the reason one would run.  If he was drunk it would now be neigh impossible for the police to prove that.  If he had drugs or other contraband he could have taken it with him and disposed of it before the police located him.  Even proving that he was in the drivers seat could be difficult to successful convict him of speeding or reckless driving could be difficult.

Seems like with all the cameras at intersections and stuff nowadays he would have been captured in the operator’s seat at some point, but I agree that the incident happening at a different time than his capture/arrest muddies a lot

Yeah and his car might even rat him out.  So many modern cars have cameras, microphones, and sensors that are constantly recording.

If the evidence of him driving isn't solid it might allow for him to make a plea deal and avoid jail.  Then potentially transfer and win two more NCAA titles.

Does he have two years of D1 Track eligibility?

I doubt it but based on Ferrsri’s interview at NCAAs in Philadelphia he thinks he might.

He’s not winning anymore titles regardless

I'm honestly concerned that this young man may be on the edge of suicide. His reckless behavior is concerning.  He is lucky he hasn't killed himself or someone else. This guy is a walking disaster.

I couldn't guess if he's a depressed individual but I doubt he feels the other major factor in extremely narcissistic people, public humiliation, to suicide.  His continuous displays (splits, double-birds, bible-thumping, interviews, social media vomit, and on and on) in non-life threatening situations debunk that notion.  I'd guess he would make it a big spectical, something unique, if he were to suicide.  I can agree with the rest.

I don't claim to know anything; just a couple thoughts...

So does this new mistake mean he's "growing up" more and is more "teachable?"  Well he learned one thing from January ... a pickup truck at 90 isn't fast enough so try a Vette at 120 to 140.

If this was the incident that occured when he was at Ok St, I think a pass would be warranted.

Since he was running from the cops, does that mean his torn knee is all healed?

He had knee surgery.  Nebby paid for it too

with that said what’s more interesting is raf trying to sign him for the easy publicity

Last time I was stopped for speeding in Nebraska the officer said,”Son, you’re not in Kansas anymore!”

Im sure they had a bit more to say to AJ.

I thought it was an 11 minute chase. I didn't see that he got picked up much later. It might have been a smart move. I can't help but assume he had contraband or was under the influence. You have to be scared of something to evade, or he's just a flat out idiot.

That’s right.  The chase lasted 11 minutes, but he wasn’t apprehended at the scene.  He ran off on foot and got away.  The trooper searched the car and found documents that indicated it was Ferrari.  They then got a warrant and arrested him a day later.

Not sure what documents were found perhaps just the registration which probably isn’t going to prove he was driving to a sufficient standard.  Maybe the trooper is able to pick him out of a lineup, but that might be difficult if there was separation during the chase.

How does this all work? Unless he admitted to being the driver, which seems like something he wouldn’t do, how can they prove he was the driver?

seems like that could be an easy loop hole for him. But I’ve never been in a high speed chase, so what do I know about crime?

One could imagine a multitude of ways to prove he was in the car to varying degrees of certainty.  As I mentioned earlier his car could rat him out.  Modern cars have lots of sensors including cameras and microphones.   It may have recorded his voice or video of him in the car shortly before or during the pursuit.  If his car has Bluetooth they might be able to use that to learn which devices were connected to it at the time of the pursuit, what phone calls were made, audio, etc.  If that phone was AJs and if he was in possession of it when they found him that would be strong evidence.

His phone could rat him out too.  His could have been storing location/speed data during the chase which matches the position speed of the car.  Even if they don't find his phone, he may have been sharing location data with apps that have the data stored in the cloud.  Even if none of that exists cell tower information could correlate him with the chase.  Even if none of that location date is useful he may have texted or called people after leaving on foot which could be helpful.

The location itself is somewhat interesting.  This took place in North Platte, NE.  Does Ferrari live in North Platte?  I would have thought if he was living in NE it would be near the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, which is about a three hour drive away from North Platte, NE, but maybe only 1hr at the speed AJ drives.  If he lives in Lincoln, NE or Texas and was arrested in North Platte, NE that is circumstantial evidence he drove the car there.  Even if he lives in North Platte an 11 minute high speed chase at 100+mph could have put him 10-20+ miles away from his destination.  He might have had to travel a large distance after ditching.  His phone records could show if he called/texted someone to pick him up.  He phone records could also show if he called an uber/lyft/taxi.  If he decided to hike/run 20mi instead of contacting someone or took a bus then he may well have passed dozens of cameras en route or encountered other people who could identify him as being in the vicinity.

How much they get will in part depend on how much effort they want to put into this.  At the end of the day it isn't the most serious crime.  It wasn't a murder, it wasn't a violent crime, no one was hurt, and there wasn't even any property damage.

Well sure but were there any UFOs sighted in the area.  AJ's high priced Texas attorneys need only provide a plausible alternative correct? What if an alien spaceship was trying to suck the corvette thru a time vortex and thus AJ wasn't "driving" but successful escaped on foot?  Surely no jury of his peers would convict under such circumstances.
