This thread is a conspiracy to sneak more massively gay freestyle content into the college wresting section.

Where will that rascal AJ end up?

The 3-Point Takedown - Folkstyle's Sea Change

Some people are gonna think this is premature, but I think Shohei Ohtani is the greatest wrestler of all time. -
Fox host lets Kennedy Blades suplex her - LOL

Looks like KB cleared her head completely to land her on her side. Had she dropped her on the back or her neck or head, the post-throw reaction would have been much different. -
The only significance outside of any personal psychological effect would be that only Poopy has a minus-one value toward what the forum refers to as "reputation" - whereas the other two emojis garner the emoj'd upon a plus-one. As to whether it is good or bad, I know it, you know it, and the American people know it.

Vega literally wore plastics and hopped around on the moon to make weight. But only when he got taken down later.

I can respect the distinction you make. On the other hand, he is in his own way running for something at the same time he is running away from something else he'd just done - in the same way the Cornhuskers seemed to be keen on having him do damage control. PR was invented by the same guy(s) who developed the model for both advertising and propaganda. In this century alone, there have been two American presidents with significant uptick in marketing acumen: one of their campaigns actually won an advertising award usually reserved for product; the other cut his teeth in reality TV and, wait for it, wrestling (of the kayfabe variety). Both inspired a groundswell of popstar-like support as well as a pretty strong (and often enough irrational) resentment, both of which resemble people going bat-***t crazy seen from afar. For my part I will only say that — although they seem like polar opposites seen through the aforementioned Bernaise-lens — both of these men have something in common (in regard to both word and deed) for which I have zero respect. I'm not saying AJ is prime for this stage and do not want to project my own sense of what is plausible onto someone else. What I will say is that I see two types of fan whose eyes are brought to folkstyle by way of the antics: those who had watched and those who hadn't. The former were watching for the wrong reasons, I think, and the latter, if they continue to watch, will get bored with anything other than kayfabe-like promotional garbage.

Yeah, but they're sooo good for the sport.

I feel about him the way I do about the president. Anybody who walks with the Lord can't be all bad.

I joined recently because it became clear that not having an account on any number of fora vis a vis the topic of college wrestling limits my ability to get info on what's happening. I only started watching videos of competition within the last couple of years, after decades of having left that world of competition. One thing I noticed, however, is that there are certain topics that garner a small army of posters who, when you click on their profiles, clearly only became interested because that topic hit their algorithms and they otherwise never bother to contribute to anything regarding wrestling. It's not impossible some are bots, but I don't see much difference even if they are not.

Jax had Funkytown, too, didn't he?
-
If you're gonna have a shot clock, do it right. Every match alternates wrestlers being on the clock for half of the 1st period. The clocked wrestler can move anywhere, including stepping out; the un-clocked wrestler is subject to a pushout that counts as a takedown.
-
Obviously (or so I thought), the pushout is only rewarded from sequences that start from neutral. After an escape, a pushout cannot be rewarded until they're restarted from center - or at least both wrestlers are standing within the center circle.

Is there some bitter animosity between the two programs, or actors therein? Otherwise I can't understand why a PSU fan wouldn't want this. -
The semis and finals clinched it for MM. When you look at how he got his TF's all year, and his pins, he's just all-around more dominant. Anybody thinking Barr deserves it is probably smoking PCP and pronounces their own name wrong. If Jax had wrestled the whole year, he might've won it, but he didn't.
-
You have to take him seriously; he does and says it all in accordance with the Man Upstairs' plan for him. Like half the elite athletes out there, apparently.

I'm pretty sure the inarguably better aspect gets settled in the OkSt wrestling room. The rest is comparing bananas & avocados.
-
Yeah, it seems to me they are doing what a team with six number ones and a 2&4 should do on the first day, which is bonus. The only guys who didn't were what's his name and the other guy.

Does Sparks get paid for saying resilite?

I always preferred Resilite to wrestle on. -
He's the Thibodeau of wrestling.

Pfft. These takes are trees with no limbs on 'em. I'm predicting the rise from the dead of a guy who'll finally make use of his redshirt, entering as a bottom seed and taking the title at all four middle weights, which will wrest the championship away from PSU, making it the first and probably only time a team title at any level has gone to an individual, here, in the person of a certain grappler who grappled so hard he grappled to an early grave, the late great & great late legend gone by the name o' Skibby MaRue!
-
Hey, I just got here. What's goin' on?
-
Jesse lost ground on bonuses in the 10s with two decisions. It's looking like MM unless he fails to bonus a few times. As much as I'd love to see Jax get it, I don't think he's got enough matches even if he pinned his way thru NCAAs.
-
Blaze has beaten him twice, right? Combined, like, 10 points? I think folkstyle will tell a different story. Looks to me like Jax is advancing and it's hard to tell if Blaze is, too, because he's so defensively minded.
