Damn I was mulling over this exact post of a topic for about 2-3 days a week or two ago. Most of mine have been mentioned.
I JUST discussed MSU wrestling today at work with an MSU grad, and exactly as @MPhillipsputs it, they simply don't care. In all of these sports, college and pros, there are great reasons to move on from a coach, but not always a ton of options in doing so, and definitely not always options with a greater ceiling. I suspect MSU is in this position as it pertains to wrestling. They don't seem to care too much to try to be competitive beyond what they are currently, and in many ways are the D1 program in your home state that will take you after you had a successful HS career but saw virtually no recruiting movement. Lots of the guys on their roster are former multi-time state champs, but they aren't good enough to AA in college, and the ones that are tend to leave for better wrestling programs (Davison, Dundee, DCC sending kids out of state) or they wind up at U of M, who is substantially more competitive and allows kids to "stay home" in some capacity. Furthermore, when kids DO start to pop at MSU, they hit the portal (Remy Cotton has essentially had an upward trajectory since day 1 at MSU and left after his first year). I think that program is what it is at this point and it may take a bit of luck for them to climb out.
Anyway, FWIW, here was my list...
Goodale (Rutgers)
Bono (Wisconsin)
Chandler (MSU)
A whole tier below those 3 I would say you might have Eggum (Minnesota) and Smith (Missouri) as other names. Eggum could be interesting if Minnesota has a bad year, but I think he can ride the MacEnelly success for a while if he wants now, but it feels like Minnesota fans are used to a bit more success from the team/program as a whole. Smith is mostly related to succession rather than hot seat action, as he has been at Mizzou for 28 years, which is wild to me, especially because he is actually only 59 years old. He's just been coaching for literally the entire time since he graduated college. Oddly enough, Smith was a wrestler at MSU in the late 80's before he moved into coaching. Would be wild to see him move on from Missouri and retire from MSU after rebuilding their tragedy (I have no reason to believe this will ever happen)
