There’s 2 hires that I would like to see.  Both have experience with youth/high school coaching at a high level.  One is nolf,  but the one that I’d really like to see is Marstellar.  Chance has build an amazing team and network with his club team and has a great mind for the sport as well as a great talent for coaching/teaching

I don’t think they need to hire anyone. They are at the apex of ncaa wrestling.

Lol, not sure if this is satire, but Penn State is at the Apex of college wrestling and Iowa is not even close to them right now. They basically got double up in team score. Yeah they are a still a very good program but they aren’t chasing 4th place trophies and they have a long way to go to get on top. Especially with OK State entering the conversation. Why on earth would they not even replace a coach they lost? That’s a good way to regress. A big hire is really the only way to maybe help them catch up

If the idea is to hire someone to directly replace Bobby, then Gwiz would be the guy that fits the bill.

I'm also seeing this rumored across several different platforms.

Hmmm. I'm intrigued. Thought him and Tom had beef. Must be water under the fridge

I thought that as well, so I’m a little surprised to see that being rumored. I know they say more money, more problems… but in this case maybe it’s more money… no problem? Lol

Possibly, I still think yianni should be favored, he would be a good recruiter and able to help iowa improve scrambling (something that they are in desperate need of) other names I'm hearing a lot is mocco, I like mocco but he doesn't bring much the the table that isn't already there. Imo

I did hear Willie Saylor mention on their podcast yesterday that he “didn’t know who it was, but knew who it wasn’t” then proceeded to mention he knew it wasn’t Yianni. Which was tough, not sure if that means Yianni has no coaching aspirations yet, or just doesn’t have interest in Iowa. I think he’d be a great coach, as well. I’d also agree with Mocco.

I did predict last week that they’d make both moves (Telford resigning & hiring a replacement) before April 1st and… I’m 50% correct on that prediction. Which is still an F. lol

Hell ya. Batting .500 is enough to go into the MLB.

Honestly tho. Do you think Iowa keeps this positions with someone who was iowa alumni. If so I think it's yet again not a great look for TNT. It's time to try new things. They need someone new, someone that shows to the AD that they are in fact willing to change how the approach everything.

Why do they need to show the AD anything? They are top 3 or 4?in the country.  And climbing. They Certainly don’t  need a change with all the success they have had over the years.

September ish? He is still lingering and I'm pretty sure pops in and out of the room. But is no longer with HWC

So after Worlds. I did not know.

Heading into this freestyle season, HWC has Spencer Lee, Austin Desanto, Stephen Buchanan, Mikey Caliendo, Patrick Kennedy. That's better than it's been for years with having a sold handful of guys to expect to actually see at competitions.

Tom and Terry seem to do a lot, but I'll be interested to see if they replace Dennis with someone exciting.

These are both good moves Morningstar should be next.  They need a star of some sort to take over the RTC and should replace Telford and Morningstar with a young technical wrestlers like Keegan O’toole or Jason Nolf.  Guys who love the game and were super high level.  Could you imagine if they landed both of those guys?

A few months ago the AD and Tom talked openly about how changes will be made. So yes, they did in fact need to show the AD something. Sense the AD is on record saying that if they don't show change that she would make the change. While the team is certainly top 2-4 I would not say Iowa is climbing anywhere right now, they had a great tourney, which is a change in the right direction. let's not forget the regular season they had. They started the year ranked 2nd and were ranked 4th for a long time. So ending the year ranked forth after the endene thing was a good ending for sure. They aren't climbing anything tho. That my opinion

Iowa certainly hasn’t been dead to Tony, based on his twitter lately.

Lots of people are still in love with the one who dumped them for a California guy living out of his pickup who hasn't shaved in months

If I was the AD at Iowa and I'm looking at wrestling in particular after this year, I'd be stepping in with some clear expectations. It was a very underwhelming regular season, not just from a performance on the mat perspective, but also with in-season drama and ticket sales & scans. That article that came out a few weeks ago referenced ticket sales and ticket scans were down this past season (I believe it was down over 20%).

I think it's also important to keep in mind the trend while she's been the AD for coaching changes. She stepped in on the football side and fired Brian Ferentz, now Iowa actually is showing some signs of having an offense on Saturdays. She fired the long-time head basketball coach Fran McCaffery, hired Ben McCollum, and in his first year he takes Iowa to their first Elite Eight since 1987. With a track record like that with coaching changes? Brands absolutely needed to show the AD something with some changes after this year.

Don't forget she is fighting for her job.  JC is mounting an all out effort to get a seat on.the Iowa board supported by Dole bananas so he can fast track Spencer Lee into the AD position.
