  1. He's currently pleading for Dan Gable's support: "If you support me, I'll double the size of your statue out front of Carver!"
  2. If I was the AD at Iowa and I'm looking at wrestling in particular after this year, I'd be stepping in with some clear expectations. It was a very underwhelming regular season, not just from a performance on the mat perspective, but also with in-season drama and ticket sales & scans. That article that came out a few weeks ago referenced ticket sales and ticket scans were down this past season (I believe it was down over 20%). I think it's also important to keep in mind the trend while she's been the AD for coaching changes. She stepped in on the football side and fired Brian Ferentz, now Iowa actually is showing some signs of having an offense on Saturdays. She fired the long-time head basketball coach Fran McCaffery, hired Ben McCollum, and in his first year he takes Iowa to their first Elite Eight since 1987. With a track record like that with coaching changes? Brands absolutely needed to show the AD something with some changes after this year.
  3. I did hear Willie Saylor mention on their podcast yesterday that he “didn’t know who it was, but knew who it wasn’t” then proceeded to mention he knew it wasn’t Yianni. Which was tough, not sure if that means Yianni has no coaching aspirations yet, or just doesn’t have interest in Iowa. I think he’d be a great coach, as well. I’d also agree with Mocco. I did predict last week that they’d make both moves (Telford resigning & hiring a replacement) before April 1st and… I’m 50% correct on that prediction. Which is still an F. lol
  4. I thought that as well, so I’m a little surprised to see that being rumored. I know they say more money, more problems… but in this case maybe it’s more money… no problem? Lol
  5. I'm also seeing this rumored across several different platforms.
  6. Official announcement just came out that Bobby Telford has stepped down. He will be taking on a Sales Representative role with Eastern Iowa Neurosurgical with Stryker. Best of luck to Bobby with the new career transition!
  7. If that happens, you can find the Brands bros digging through the eligibility rules book to find a loophole for another year of eligibility for Austin DeSanto.
  8. Agreed with this, 100%. I do wonder if this season, as Tom even acknowledged being his worst season yet, will shift his perspective to make some changes - both staff wise and with his coaching approach. Now with Okie State being the clear #2 using a similar approach as Penn State with significant success, if he doesn't try something different now, he'll be out at Iowa and not on his own terms. Yianni is the kind of guy who, if allowed to really coach what he knows best without restrictions, is a splash hire to help Iowa's overall scramble ability and recruiting appeal.
  9. Coach Jimmy Cinnabon seems to make the most sense to me
  10. Just my opinion, but I think the timeline for coaching changes should be announced within the next week ahead of the Transfer Portal opening up. Especially if Iowa was to add Yianni to their staff. If I'm Brands or the AD at Iowa, I'd want that in place before April 1st.
  11. I am also skeptical on this, but I know Willie Saylor mentioned something on their podcast about it last week. With that said, I know he mentioned his sources were also Hawkeye message boards so I'm also skeptical of it. With that said, I think Yianni would be a fantastic coach. He's had a tough time with injuries, which is incredibly unfortunate, but I feel like he'd do exceptionally well as a coach if he chooses that path for his next adventure.
  12. I think coaching changes are needed after a season like this and with all the outside pressure. Clearly, that won't happen with Tom. And I'm not convinced that it will happen regardless after the season based upon his frequent comments about "having the right guys in the room". He's too stubborn. Burroughs appears to be the guy to make a big enough splash, and I can't see someone like him committing to anything but a head coaching job @ Nebraska or Iowa.
  13. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who saw this out there on their YouTube page and said to myself... "Did anybody think about cutting this one and starting it over again before posting it?" Yikes.
  14. I'd agree with this 100% and I think JB would make a great coach - seems to be doing well and enjoying his current coaching experience with his All I See is Gold Academy. Question ultimately boils down to whether or not he'd be interested specifically in the head coaching job at Iowa. Based upon the trend for Iowa Wrestling the past few years and the historically bad season so far this year, if I'm the AD at Iowa I would be calling JB and making him say no to me at least three times about the head coaching job at Iowa.
  15. Most dual losses in a single season under Brands. First loss to Iowa State in 20 years, first loss to Minnesota in 12 years, largest margin of defeat to Penn State and Oklahoma State since the 1960's, and currently projected to be outside the top-5 at NCAA's as a team for the first time since 2007. If there's an argument to be made that they are the same, I'd be curious to hear it.
