  1. Yeah...and if Iowa was winning 10 out of 12 NCAA Titles and putting Freshmen into the finals every year and dominating, it'd still be called the Iowa Ride!
  2. Sure, if you're not working to turn. DEFINITELY need to nix the "Penn State Ankle Ride." And I agree that the kid is just a stud...but I still think he's choking. The last thing I want to see is this go to Freestyle.
  3. Seems like they're at the same place we are...they're not really sure. The "It's not an escape because you have to turn and face," he kicked out, rolled and was...5 feet away from him as the clock hit 0. That is a loss of control. The refs, you can hear them say, "I can't see the clock," when they're looking at the review. IF-IF the refs doing their own review is the reason and it's a "control of the mat," issue if you throw a brick, they need to fix that. It certainly is possible that the clock we see isn't entirely accurate. That would make sense. He kicks away with ~2 seconds left, hits the mat at about one and is turning on his feet right at 0. So if the clock is 1.5 seconds off...fine. I hate the "the better Wrestler won it anyway," logic. You have ALL of this available, use it.
  4. Maybe? Or maybe they thought it'd been reviewed. The ONLY other conclusion I can come to is that the timer isn't exactly the same, but the way Coleman Scott was yelling at O'Connor, I think he knew he got away with one as well. I had Humprheys and Haines in the finals, so I was really puling for that call!
  5. What the hell was the LeHigh staff thinking at the end of that match not challenging? Humpheys kicks out with 2 seconds left and is COMPLETELY free of O'Connor when time runs out. The refs on the match reviewed it on their own monitor, but they don't have all the angles they do up in the box and you can actually hear one of the refs say, "I can't see the time," and then "I think time was up," as they go back and signal no escape. So why wouldn't they throw the brick and send the challenge upstairs where they have the same camera angles available? Just curious if anyone else noticed that amid all the other matches going on.
  6. This seems like a really bad time to kick Iowa fans when they're down(never thought I'd say that). Lee was a dominant Wrestler who won 3 NCs and got upset in the Semis.
  7. I thought it was...but I also nhs67 NOT finding the humor in this(or any other Iowa fans). Another way to go..."Did you see that MASSIVE upset with Purdue? Got knocked off by a 16 seed. Biggest upset of Friday Night." That wasn't a joke though. That was a real post by a Purdue fan who...I started to argue with and then gave up after 2 posts since he obviously just didn't get it!
  8. I just kinda assumed this was a joke...since OBVIOUSLY the biggest upset was...well, since it's obvious, you know.
  9. Wow....that is disappointing. I really didn't think Lee would go out like that.
  10. Why do you HAVE to think that? He got a 3 month suspension.
  11. Yeah...comparing it to opioids and Fentanyl is just WILD.
  12. Yes...if he makes it there, absolutely. ALL DAY to get recover from his final weight cut? Spencer having been a bit gassed a few times this year(the few times he's gone a full match). IF Glory can weather the storm the first period while pushing Lee without putting himself in danger, then I think he COULD have a real chance in the 3rd period to wear him down and pull off an upset.
  13. Dude...this one is NOT a choke. Riding on top with both legs in and coming right across the throat and a pinning combination like this where his elbow is on the chin are two VERY different positions.
  14. Yup...looks like he just got done wrestling that little girl who's gasping for air!
  15. Yeah...that was kinda stupid. You can't really choke someone with a claw ride. Ok, plenty of people try and trap the far shoulder on top(though usually not with both legs in). He's the only guy who looks like he's choking people while doing it.
  16. Yeah...that works. I mean, he's just a pretty damn good Wrestler. He reminds me of Trevor Brandvold a bit. Better at the same point, but...a similar style at 197.
  17. Yes...it's not "in line" with the throat when you're coming from behind and reaching around! Plenty of guys use a claw ride. Seems like everyone else notices ONE guy in particular who chokes the hell out of people. You're getting a little worked up here bud. You're going to be at your own oxygen deficit if you don't relax a bit!
  18. And you're asking if I'M new to Wrestling! It may not be an illegal move, but the ref can certainly call it potentially dangerous or just stop it. Yes...you are correct. WRESTLING. Not MMA. So we should probably try and refrain from...ya know, the choking.
  19. Dude...seriously? A claw ride is one thing...where the elbow is bent. But you're telling me that because you're on the shoulder, you can't be on the throat also? And you're asking if I'M new to Wrestling! Alright...not my hill! I'll hand it back to Chrome or all the other people who are...apparently making this up and don't know Wrestling!
  20. Yup! I'm a big Bucknell/Pitt fan! THAT is my issue with it! I don't have the objectivity that Minnesota fans have! And dude, take a Xanax! AGAIN, nobody said it was illegal. Just that he applies pressure to the throat...and that it's dirty.
  21. Yeah, you have both legs in(which he's very good at) and you keep changing it up and you just spend a few seconds on the neck 3-4 times, you're really gassing a kid out. Oxygen intake is...fairly important in Wrestling. It's been a few years, but I seem remember that being an emphasis. Otherwise most of us ran a few thousand miles for no good reason!
  22. There's no pressure on the throat at all? How on EARTH would you possibly know that? Because he's on the shoulder? Please, he's directly across the throat. I can't tell from this ONE picture if he's choking him or how much pressure is being applied, but your arguments are comical. Not having choked someone out="Must not be very good at it?" Or...it's his bread and butter, but he's smart enough to not choke someone out with it or it'll become the focus of every match he wrestles. Not sure the OP said just coming across the throat is illegal. I'm pretty sure he simply pointed out he...chokes the hell out of people and that if HE were coaching his opponent, he'd be on the ref to make them aware. It was pretty plainly stated and clearly true...and he didn't say it was illegal. Maybe(probably) dirty though.
  23. Yeah...he's tough on top. Cutting off oxygen and blood to the brain certainly helps.... I agree, I'd talk to the refs before the match and be on them during.
  24. LOL...I could see saying that just because Taylor for example racked up bonus points, he wasn't better than Dake who just controlled Wrestlers(if for example those two hadn't actually wrestled and we didn't see who was better there). But the "biggest myth in Wrestling?" So just dog walking everyone doesn't mean anything? That's kinda silly. It's not the definitive measure, but what is? It's a factor.
  25. Yup. If there's ever a case of splitting hairs, it's this discussion, but the way they just rolled through the other high seeds with bonus points...it was amazing. Starocci and Brooks are pretty dominant, but they just do it differently. They don't rack up the points. Which, I guess to play devils advocate, the point IS to control your opponent and win, so no knock against either. But Ruth after that loss to Amuchastegui was about as dominant as you can get. He seems like the guy who gets the most underrated. Someone had him 7th I believe? I get it given the number of studs PSU has produced, but that's just hard for me to wrap my head around. Couple of interesting metrics for this discussion; https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/5967780-cael-is-the-greatest-ncaa-wrestler-of-all-time-so-who-s-no-2#.WcUwka2ZOu4 https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/6011460-by-the-numbers-dt-ruth-vs-bo-nolf I'm a little surprised that Stieber is #2 after Cael. Not that he wasn't great...he obviously was, just didn't feel like he had that type of dominance at the NCAAs. This is probably a fun discussion if you're a PSU fan. Are the two guys likely to win 4 NCs better than the guys who "only" won 3!
