Cornell is the best place for elite wrestlers?
scourge165 replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
Yeah, ACC looks really good. Va Tech is loaded and bringing pretty much everyone back. I don't think the B1G is losing any ground. Iowa-coming off their best recruiting class EVER. Ohio State-arguably coming off THEIR best recruiting class ever a year before that(the one with Phillips/Stieber/Tessari...and whoever else was incredible). PSU is gonna be even better despite RBY IMO. If only this weren't in a thread started by someone who's got this fetish about trolling his own team... -
Bright spots in Iowa's overall performance
scourge165 replied to peanut's topic in College Wrestling
You think the problem is that taking 2nd is "alright with them?" You don't think it's the absolute MONSTER than Penn State is building? They're pulling in more premier talent relative to the rest of the field than any program...ever. Now you can say Iowa hasn't evolved with the sport or any of the issues that Jay Borschel or other alumni have taken with the program, but it's beyond silly to infer it's just a matter of how much they care. -

Can someone tell Vito to get into the weight room?
scourge165 replied to Theo Brixton's topic in College Wrestling
Pretty sure he was 17 graduating HS. I think he's still just 23. Which, a year from now 24 and I guess...that would be "pushing" 25. But he's younger than most who are 6 years out of HS. -

Hamiti is OBVIOUS. I think he should RS and just move up to 174. Grow into the weight. He can't beat the Marinelli, Amine types because he's just overpowered. Give him a year off, build him up to a big '74 pounder. At that point, Star may be gone, Lewis definitely will be. But I think he's about maxed out at 165. -
Ok...and this will invariably piss some people off, but I'll live with it. But is there maybe ONE Religion that isn't quite as understanding or logical when it comes to ANY inference Muhammad is not the one true prophet? You're applying your rationale to their actions. And by "their," I am talking about a small number, but a MUCH bigger number than if we were talking about any other Religion and the tenants of their faith being kinda I guess dismissed for lack of a better word.

I said that after the match, not before. I didn't realize just how quick he was before then. I knew he was great, but I thought he was more Yianni-like great. It also definitely shows he lifts. He looks strong. It's obviously difference if you're taller and more lanky, but if you're cutting weight, it's generally tougher to add muscle. -

Yeah...and I won't be giving advice to a guy coming off a tourney in which he dominated RBY and Fix, BUT I can see the logic in going up rather than down. I think 57 is an "easier" weight...in so much as you can get easier at that level. But if Vito just really focused on remaking his body like...say Taylor did, it could certainly work. Aside from just not hating the sport, he does look like he could be a huge 65. And if he wrestles like he did last night, no '41 is gonna beat him next year at the NCAAs either. -

Touché!

Oh, yeah...you TOTALLY made it clear you were talking about Starocci tweeting about Max Dean in your initial post! How could ANYONE be confused about that! And people are just going out of their way searching for things to pick at with Brooks! It's not at all about maybe having a little concern for him since he called out ALL of Islam, the notoriously forgiving religion when it comes to insulting Muhammed... Am I get closer to what? Decoding what the hell you're trying to say? Yeah, when you give me the key. The post was ALL about Starocci...whom you did not mention AT ALL, only Max Dean who you did. I am getting closer to understanding what the hell you were talking about. Ya know what would help more? You sharing said Tweet. But...I don't actually care because I don't have any problem with Starocci...at all.
-
Oh...yeah. I guess that is a problem You're really like quadrupling down on trying to completely change the topic here, aren't you?
-
Are you drinking? You're having an ENTIRELY different conversation than the rest of us and I have zero clue what you're talking about. What Max Dean EVER viewed as a bad guy? If so, why? He did have a nice interview, you felt for him, he was emotional. Not sure what that has to do with this topic. The "People" who see what they want to must be you in this case as I never saw anything other than a great Wrestler who...by all accounts was a good guy. With Brooks, if you still think we're just seeing what we want to see and that he said NOTHING controversial(despite still not having ACTUALLY WATCHED it)..fine.
-
LMFAO...they've gotten "castigated" for it? This persecution complex is HILARIOUS! But then go find the thread where people are talking about THAT and not the thread that you're arguing while being clueless WHAT you're arguing about. Fair enough?
-
Yes, that's obvious. PSU has gotten hate FOR YEARS on the forum? I don't care...at all. I really don't even care that he said it. I'm indifferent. He's the one who MIGHT actually put a target on his back for it. It's all kinda silly to me. My God is better than Yours? Anyway...
-
Ok, then with respect, shut up. If you don't even know WHAT he said...and you're claiming that JUST by talking about God, he's insulted 2 billion, go listen? Or just be quiet. LOL..."I didn't see it, but I'm still gonna argue and I don't understand why!"
-
Ok...well, that's the antithesis of "Irreparable damage," that you said in your post, but ok, fair enough. Not sure who's gonna hear NOW. Only people actively looking for it, but he could assuage a percentage of them. There's a WHOLE lot of fanatics in that faith who are NOT gonna and he's gonna be wrestling in the same country as many of them. The people who are gonna ACTUALLY care about this(and there are obviously some...and the Amine family is not who I'd be worried about). They're not gonna care about an apology.
-
Dude...that's NOT the issue. It WAS just them saying Muhammed was a "false prophet." I'm baffled how you don't get this. And not "them" either, it was ONE particular athlete. Has ANYONE mentioned any other PSU Wrestler? Nope. Just Aaron Brooks.
-
Really? So you think they just choose to leave the F word in? Is it possible that your understanding is not accurate? Also, where would you cut it off? IF there was a 7 second delay, where are YOU cutting that off?
-
Because that's NOT the issue. I mean, it makes me roll my eyes, but praising God is what EVERY athlete does(Though Rocky Elam kinda blamed him...and I respect that...if you thank him everytime, why can't he shoulder some of the blame!). Anyway, you really don't get the difference between "All Glory to God" and "All Glory to God and this Muhammad guy if bullshit! You're pissing off 2 BILLION people worldwide! Do you REALLY not understand? Scouts honor(That's like...a promise to be honest, right)?
-
Ok...so out of EVERYONE...that's somehow ESPN's fault? Now NCAA Wrestling who posted the LIVE interview? Was it also ESPN's fault a Wrestler dropped the F-bomb as well? WHO "choose" to leave it in the interview? Also, if there is ALREADY a "deposit" into the "irreparable damage bucket," then how is there "still time to clean it up Mr. Brooks?"
-
I think he made it pretty clear he wanted to be a 4X Champ. I suspect he'll also go for 5 even if he's given conflicting comments about that. I just think with his personality, he's going to embrace the potential to become the first 5X Champ ever.
-
They'll kill their own people...even famous athletes for speaking out against Iran. What the helll are they going to do to the Jews living there?

Cornell with 2 4xers Before PSU/Iowa have 1
scourge165 replied to Doublehalf's topic in College Wrestling
I largely agree with this, but no, Stieber did not win any finals he should not have "given the calls." That was a point of emphasis that year. "The one" we're talking about vs Oliver, was specifically talked about at the coaches meetings and you needed to get your head out and being below the knees was not a TD. They changed the rule, but Stieber knew it, JO knew it and there's a reason why John Smith didn't argueit that hard. He knew he'd lost. It'd be a TD today(and I believe even the next year)...but it was NOT one that year. And if you play that game...SO many matches chance. Mcllravy taking Marienettti to his back out of bounds(with Mcllravy still in bounds). Using scoring now and applying it to older matches and a LOT of outcomes are different. I do agree that 4X Champs are fetishized(not compromised though...not sure what that means) and that it doesn't account for other variables. 100% on that. And also worth pointing out, it'd be shocking if PSU doesn't have 4NCs by the end of next year....and maybe a 5X Champ the following year. -
I say he should have had to wrestle an OT vs LeHigh as Humpreheys was CLEARLY out on time. Beyond that...I don't know who the "people" are who said his accomplishment was "meaningless." Why don't you bump THAT thread and do the "I told you so," instead of the 'a lot of people are saying' schtick. Who are the people actively not giving "props" to O'Connor?
