No, he's said he would not. He's specifically said it doesn't matter and there is nothing they can do, the tariffs are here to stay. Now we know what Trump says vs what he actually does are very different and with what appears to be coming in tomorrows markets, he may start walking these back, but no, he hasn't used other countries actual tariffs for ANYTHING. He just made up the "tariffs" they put on us. He's ALMOST certainly not walking any of these tariffs back until the fed has cut....150 basis points.

Ok...this isn't a referendum on Sanders and I wasn't arguing for any of his policies...though...as I've said, I think here is plenty of an argument for targeted tariffs. I also think there's a pretty strong argument on a National Healthcare System. It's the one thing we actually run rather efficiently. But that became moot when Obama didn't include a public option.

Ok...I feel like my post was pretty on point. We exported ~600 Million to Russia in 2023. The United States has TWO Countries that are substantive threats. China and Russia. Russia, we KNOW tried daily hacks, they used misinformation, they're the more guilty of this than anyone(I'm not saying they fixed an election...but they try to influence them). Now...given the fact that they didn't over look a tiny Island Nation nor a Island with ZERO Humans on it, how do you justify Russia? Sanctions? You can try. It's SUPER disingenuous given China's effective tariff rate is 2.2 and ours was 1.5 and we put 54% on them. That and we literally will not allow them to buy the MOST valuable resource for the next economic revolution, Nvidia's H100/H200 and ESPECIALLY now the B100 or B200 Blackwell GPUs. So it's not Free Trade(which Republicans and conservatives and capitalists, at least laisse faire capitalists have STRONGLY advocated for in this Country) on our part, but I could see how you'd arrive at putting some tariffs on China. I DON'T see how you justify NOT doing it with Russia. Not only that, but you want to see out a Country that violated OUR LAWS(we are still a part of Nato and they have shot into Nato allies)....but Trump wants MORE trade with them and less with everyone else? We put a Island on our list that accounts for 0% of US imports. We put another small Island on the list where ONE person accounted for 3.4M dollars in exports leaving a 3.3M trade imbalance. Clearly we weren't worried on the percentage of trade we had with each Country. So...again, why leave Russia off? I've been told by some VERY enthusiastic Trump supporters this is about leverage. No tariffs=no leverage. This is just absurd. You've had sky rocketing earnings reports. Claiming "much" of the crash we've seen in the past few trading days is ACTUALLY just from an "expected correction," is absurd. The Bears have called for a "correction," or a recession 98 out of the last 2 times. But, I asked a question, you didn't answer it, you simply explained why agriculture wanted a bailout. No. Which is exactly why I'm against Trump's across the board tariffs. Laying THIS at the feet of the Fed is...absolutely insane though. There's just no other way to put it. The Fed guy 75 basis points last year and inflation was coming down to the targeted 2% range. You don't just KEEP cutting or keep rates artificially low or you get...what? Inflation. Something we already had after Covid cost the economy 15T dollars and Trump added 8T to the market. But you took 6 words and...ignored the entire premise of the post. Our Economy not only didn't crash(as Trump stated it would or had dozens of times) but it was actually the strongest economy and quickest recovery from Covid.

Why is it SO hard for you to answer how much debt it's healthy for the United States to carry? Is Google not giving you a good enough answer? You go from saying "when did I say eliminate the debt," then when I pointed out that was one of your last posts, you post this like I haven't been talking about the deficit...which is how much we add to the debt yearly. In Trump's last 4 years, it was ~8 Trillion he added to the debt.

It's your post, why don't YOU add it? Ok, so your question is "aren't there discussions...?" I don't know. This is totally speculative and contrary to everything Trump has said about taxes. What Trump has ACTUALLY advocated was cutting taxes that would equate to at least 9T added to the debt over the next 10 years. And how much did Trump's tax cuts on the wealthy add? Yes. This is why I said "when I bother to look at your posts." The conversation generally goes like this...which is you just posting 5-6 times in a row and...not a single original thought.

You're the guy who listens to the "DOGE" team and really thinks they're cutting billions a day in debt. But...sure, cut out the fraud. Do you have a concept of how large our debt is? That even if you were to assume ALL non Social Security, Medicare, Military spending is debt, how long would it take-with NO other Govt spending- to eliminate the deficit and then the debt? Also, what is the target debt YOU believe the US should aim for?

No, he has not Jimmy. I posted the same link(I know you don't bother reading them, but it outlined RUMORS about what he was considering). One was 40-41% on 1M and above and the other was just rolling it back to Obama level eras. Can I ask what your point is? Trump hasn't said a word about this. This is all rumors. You realize being the largest economy in the world IS ALL the power you need, right? Just making up tariff rates that you're being charged based on trade deficits is...absurd. Stop spending? That's not policy that's a vague and meaningless talking point. Social Security(which means...you probably also stop taxing), Medicare and the Military? Here's the reality though...and it's not complicated. The larger your tax base is, the easier it is to get out of debt. When your GDP GROWS...even without raising taxes, you've got MORE money coming in to service the debt. When your GDP CONTRACTS, the debt will grow. Margin taxes rates above 1M dollars increasing will help. They were over 90% in the 50s under Eisenhower when we were paying off debt accumulated from WWII and the Great Depression. We could slash defense spending? We have an outline of how to get out of this debt whilst still prospering. That's not going to happen again(the extremely high tax rates). We also have an outline of how to make things exponentially worse(that IS happening).

And...yet again, another reference to Bernie from 2008 talking about targeted tariffs on CHINA. Do you know what he and McCain actually endorsed? I get this is making it's way around conservative talking points, using a man who Trump and Conservatives said would bankrupt this economy with his economic policies(I remember constant references to Venezuela because he talked about Medicare For All and raising taxes on the wealthy). Are we all going to get together and vote for Bernie in 2028(assuming Trump doesn't...use one of those legal mechanisms that he believes he has to run again)? Should I keep spamming the Reagan take on tariffs?
