You can't give it to the same guy every single year. Also, Cornell had a 4X Champ and Vito put an absolute ass whooping on RBY.... I absolutely understand the sentiment on the backend though.

Yeah, I'm not saying you turn Carr away, I'm saying you don't "need" David Carr. Also, I'd like to see him stay at ISU. They won't beat PSU, but they might- could be competitive with them(if they were to Wrestle a duel). -
Yes. Cornell won the Night. PSU won the Tournament obviously and their young talent HAS to be deflating for other teams, but Cornell had an incredible night. The Cornell-PSU thing looked like it might be getting more interesting if the Gibson/Basset family was headed there, but as they're not...

Yes, he's a Sr. And what about Hendrickson? Parris was the only guy to push Kerk this year. And you just won a title with Steen and have about half a dozen '25 pounders coming in. And I do think you'll be able to count on him as he's actually getting it repaired. This is actually silly. Penn State had ONE bad Championship round and returns more than ANY other team even close to them...and no, Cornell does NOT have as much top tier talent...but you know this. You HAVE to know this. That or you take neurotic to the next level. You won a NC like 35 seconds ago. You don't NEED to add National Champs right now. Hell, even if Starocci and Brooks left, you'd STILL be the favorites next year. You make it more difficult to root for PSU Jimmy! -

Sure Jimmy. PSU is in a LOT of trouble if they don't add another NC. They're "only" returning their entire lineup save for RBY and adding Howard to that while Kerkvliet will be the prohibitive favorite next year, but yeah, they NEED to add Carr. -
I think he said he was also ready to move on...in addition to that. I think whoever said Rutgers may have been on to something.

This was a normal, reasonable post...until the last line. They "NEED" to get Carr into Blue and White? No...they don't. Nobody is touching them. They'll likely win the title by as much next year as this year. -
I don't know...and it was just totally unprompted. I mean, he was asked how his faith helped him. That's a silly question to me, but most of these are. The only somewhat interesting post-match interview was Yianni alluding to some family issues and saying it put wrestling in perspective...in so many words.

Whaaaa? I can't fathom anyone in the Muslim world taking offense to that and reacting poorly. It's not like he made a cartoon!
-
Yeah, that was...strange. They're going a little further each time.

That's why I think this is silly. "Do you argue with the statistics." No, of course not. But there's a lot more to it. There's some context. Lincoln Mcllravy was 20 years old, lost a close match to Marienetti as a true Jr(I believe). And he was at 150. So if Lee had won, he just automatically moves past Mcllravy? Now that he lost a little bit of a fluke match, he's behind him? Alright...then I'll take Mcllravy's 1,1,2,1 and 3 losses and put them up against Zain or just about any non-4X Champ.

That last scramble was a little odd. The way he went to his ass there, it DID kinda look like his knee buckled...maybe. But the roll by Ramos was just ballsy and proof of how dangerous he is. He hit that roll with just a front head. I think saying he pinned himself is taking a LOT of credit away from Ramos...but I also take your point. He could have hung on to the elbow and ridden it out. Things were really kinda going his way going back and looking at it. He got that TD that I wasn't sure he should have gotten(Ramos hand was on the floor and I'm not sure he had control even if it wasn't). That also gave him a breather. If only for that reason, that was smart by Brands. Ramos just wrestled a great match. He's a helluva Freestyle Wrestler. I don't remember what he's done exactly...because it's all about this upset, but I know he's had some impressive results and has been competitive with some of our top athletes.

That's not the meanest one I've heard. "Torn labia." Yeah...some fans can be brutal. I don't know if he was hurt(I'm skeptical). Does it really matter at this point? He suffered a brutal loss. He ran out of gas in the 3rd period because A-He's been so dominant, he's seldom had to go 7 minutes and B-He was coming back from two torn ACLs and that means not only could he not run, he couldn't Wrestle. Still a 3X Champ and one of the most dominant Wrestlers we've ever seen. This was kinda what we were talking about in the thread about Penn State's Wrestlers. I get he's not a 4X Champ, but one loss isn't going to change my opinion of a Wrestler that much.

Right. The RECRUITS that go there. Bringing in a 6th year guy for one year after a Freshmen...who DID have a very good Freshmen year isn't a great precedent. And Nevills got beaten out by a guy who'll use up all of his eligibility at PSU. Beard to a guy who at least had two years left. Facundo isn't Gary Steen and Griffith, as impressive as he is, scored 11 points this year. Now if Starocci were to go up along with Brooks, then I'd say it makes sense. Otherwise, I don't. It seems like it'd be more to keep him away from other teams than to improve your own at that point.
-
Not sure about that. Had Lee done what was expected of him, I think he wins the Hodge...not that it matters now.
-
I agree. Carr #1, then Parris. I picked Kerk coming into this one and...I'm NOT feeling good about that right now. I mean, I know PSU comes through more often than not, but Parris looks like a man on a mission.
-
I've had Haines winning it as a Freshmen since the middle of last year. If ANYONE is Mrs. Haines...it's me!
-
LOL...right? I didn't see him taking a 3rd coming into the tournament, but he's a blue chip recruit at PSU. I'm skeptical people were down on Van Ness so much as they were likely arguing he wasn't a stud just yet.
-
Why? Because he isn't in the finals like Haines? In probably the toughest weight class and he's a Freshmen. If he gets knocked out by the wealth of prep talent you have coming in, fine. But recruiting over him when you're THEE dominant program for one year of Griffith...doesn't seem like the best idea.
-
Starocci has made it pretty clear he's not going to 184. That makes it pretty tough to figure out without Facundo getting knocked out of the lineup.
-
Where the hell does he fit into that PSU lineup? LOL...that's more about Penn State, but they have a finalist at '57 who may not be able to stay at '57, Van Ness, a Freshmen who just took a 3rd at '49. Sealey, Barr are coming in. Starocci and Brooks are still there. Do you really want to recruit over Facundo, a really good Freshmen? On the other hand, you add Kasak in and...Facundo MIGHT be forced out of that lineup anyway. But if his goal is to Wrestle at the next level, if he wants to Wrestle Freestyle, what better place is there than the NLWC. ASU though, you throw him into that lineup with Teemer coming back and the young talent they've got, that's a WHOLE lot of talent up and down that lineup. Don't expect much of a drop off(if any) at 125 and they bring back everyone but McGee I believe?
-
That's Woods. RBY has Vito Arajau who majored Fix last night. I THINK RBY will win, but he could certainly lose. I picked RBY, Haines, Starr, Brooks and Kerkvliet, but I'm not feeling good about the last one.
-
I think that may be pushing it...but I'd have said the same about RBY the year prior. He's gotta get a little better offensively on his feet and get out quicker on the bottom, but I didn't see RBY's dominance coming out. It's pretty tough to predict a run of dominance that's on a RBY level coming off a 5th place finish. Even as a Freshmen. He's obviously capable though.
-
Yeah, it's brutal. I've been listening. The only problem I have with Shane Sparks now is him going WAY out of his way to say "resilite." Someone got an escape yesterday and Sparks said something like, "back to his feet now on the resilite." Someone said he had a endorsement deal. It'd make sense given how hard he tries to work it in. BUT, that's nitpicking. He's good. Robles is good. And if I had my choice, it'd be Gibbons, Sparks and then you'd rotate in a Robles or JB or Cormier. Or Dake. I think he'd be awesome at it as well. Tim Johnson, good guy, but again, someone pointed out some certain mannerisms and now it's all I can hear. And I like Rock, but the "grimy" Wrestlers...doesn't feel like a compliment. And it's WAY overused. But he's excited and loves the sport. I swear, I never gave it much of a thought other than maybe watching the B1G network and it wasn't Gibbons/Sparks, but I wasn't very discerning. Now after an earlier thread where people pointed out Johnson's stories or his lags in finishing an anecdote or whatever it may be, they're difficult to listen to.
