How Dems use the market to stoke fear
scourge165 replied to headshuck's topic in Non Wrestling Topics
How about EVERYTIME Trump talked about the Markets crashing? Twice has a President had a 10% drop in the SPX. Bush Jr and Trump. Bush Jr was coming into office and out of the Dot Com Bubble Trump...was DURING a BULL MARKET. And when the market drops 2200 points after dumping 1500 points and we wipe out 11 TRILLION in wealth... Trump has said the Market was crashing dozens of times...and we've been in one of the strongest bull runs in US History...and you have Republicans, Dems and every Economics experts talking about the catastrophic impacts of Trump's tariffs and you want to play the whole, "how the DEMS use the market to fear monger?" We are in a crash. You can zoom out father and it'll look less significant relatively speaking...it won't sound any dumber. I owned Nvidia when it went from 320 to 120. Look at the chart, it's not so bad. It went back up to 1000, split and then 150(before now down to 92 after Trump). The hell with it, read for yourself. https://www.newsweek.com/trump-shares-video-claiming-hes-crashing-stock-market-purpose-2055675 -

Yeah...this is just a cult. That's...all you can say. Even Mitch McConnel is talking about the stupidity of these tariffs. Sadly, most MAGA know that if they speak out against the man they built a gold statue to at CPAC(which they literally rub) and do what's best for the Country...they'll just be replaced with an MTG or some other extremists. As it is, they know they're...fornicated in the mid-terms. The incumbent party does as it is, but when you just arbitrarily cause a recession, it's only going to get worse.

This is what is really terrifying. This is why they TEACH Smoot-Hawley in History classes, Econ classes at all levels. Sure Jimmy. Trump...literally said Countries aren't afraid of the "threat" of tariffs, then the White House said, 'well, they have so many sanctions.' But sure...it's really just because he's going to end that War....that he said The Ukraine Stated. I swear to Christ, everytime I hit "show me this post," from my ignored list, I'm left wondering...why did i do that? this guy is so clueless, he's just repeating what he sees in the Twitter replies right now. Not one original thought bouncing around up there...
-
It's not just that, but he lied when he implemented them. Claiming these were "reciprocal." Absolutely baffling how Jimmy can say "when other Countries swing back their harmless." Jesus Christ...how many times has it been pointed out THAT was why it'd get so bad... But the way he just made up numbers. Last time when he had qualified people in place to TRY and reign him in...that was at least something, but when 40 of the 44 members of your past cabinet don't endorse you...that's telling. Who does he have to be to call them out? He talked about how he was going to bring back tariffs and then when Harris said his plan was to use blanket 20% tariffs, he...very clearly called HER a liar. He's put MORE than 20% tariffs on our largest trade partners.
-
Who said that? This is quite literally what I told you would happen...it'd start off a trade war. What did you think would happen? Countries that have 1.6 effective tariff rates would just sit there and take 32% tariffs? Did I not point out Japan, China and South Korea forming an alliance(which you didn't understand). Now you're just repeating lazy talking points and Tweets and claiming I said this would put us in a depression literally 12 hours later. "Any time the Dow drops 1000 points under a President, he should be impeached immediately." Donald Trump S0...again, Trump should be impeached twice for today and once for yesterday.

It's much nicer to not have to read THAT particular brand of clueless nonsense. "leaders in AI????????? OMG." That...that was when I realized there was likely not much texture to his grey matter. I do actually think politicians OFTEN try and do the right thing. I think Bush did with the Economy. I think Clinton, Bush Sr, Reagan, Clinton...Biden. I really do think they GENERALLY tried to do the right thing. Always corruption. There were no bid deals given to Haliburton under Jr that were obviously corrupt. When they bailed out the banking industry though, reportedly, he wanted to give the banks that money, but he wanted to do it in a way that it would cover those mortgages that had been impacted and pay off the difference of the people who were upside down. So you'd be taking the bad debt off the book, you'd assure the American people they had their money secure and help prevent a depression. Obama answered(well, David Axelrod) "there is only one president at a time." Obama wanted to bail out the auto industry and he wanted to cut the deficit(they all do). But he had that freeze in spending. Bush Sr wanted to raise taxes to cut the deficit. I think they generally try to do their best. I just think this particular guy is different. He's more about his own ego(to think you can lead the US..they all do, but him in particular) and he's just not smart. 6 bankruptcies including casinos.

**I meant the LAST one I could figure out on my own...but I agree.

From everything I hear, he's all those(well, I could figure out those on my own as well).

Ben Keuter - wrestling only going forward it seems
scourge165 replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
Going 6 years deep here only hurts him in the NFL, it doesn't help him. If he's a 6'4 MLB who weights 235...with his length and his speed, if he comes back his 4th year and he's playing regularly for Iowa...which will be tougher given they have recruited that weight really well, then he will get a chance in the NFL. Not saying he'll be a high pick, but he'll get a chance. Are we doing the Jimmy thing here or are we serious? Because I think he's a prototypical off-ball LB. He's Jack Campbell size and faster if the speed listed is right(though presumably not in the weeks following the surgery). -

So...YOU'RE making this announcement on behalf of Kueter, is that correct? Based on his..."trajectory?" Based on his current trajectory? Why are you Jimmy? I get with the Penn State stuff, you're bored and trolling, but what is the point of this? We all know he is hurt and not playing next year. Definitely doesn't mean he's done with Football...but sure. -
I don't think you have to be that smart to do well in College, just show up. That and the fact that he's been to College, they're not going off his ACT and GPA or his SAT but his College Grades and I'd think he'd be able to. I know a LOT of students went to Madison after going to another school for a year. I thought they just needed a 2.75 to transfer. Whatever it was, it was...not a high standard relative to HS which was. I'm gonna guess UNC is the same, but I don't know.

The two people I've heard pretty much everyone respects have been Trevor Brandvold and Seth Gross. Again, not part of the program or close to it, but everyone I know, that's gone to camps, that has interacted with them in any way, they have spoken highly of them. Seth Gross went out at a kid, he drank and he did some stupid things, didn't hurt anyone. If THAT is something you can't come back from...then we're all pretty well screwed.
-
So you think this will be WORSE than Smoot-Hawley? If you're citing Paul Krugman, then...ok.
-
Here's Ron..."What's a libertarian think of tariffs." -"Well, first of all, we don't like 'em." Now...THIS is actually an interesting discussion. But note, it's tariffs ON CHINA to negotiate. And NOT 54% taxes on Americans. But for Rand Paul who "wrote the book on tariffs," that you claim Trump read, he must not have read it very clearly.

So...what happens when the Dow drops 2200 points in ONE day? Should Trump be impeached immediately? https://finance.yahoo.com/news/live/stock-market-today-dow-plunges-2200-points-nasdaq-enters-bear-market-as-trump-tariffs-spark-worst-meltdown-since-2020-200042876.html?.tsrc=fin-notif

You don't agree? Most of it is just stating historical fact. This is what happened the last two times we implemented tariffs like this. Using them as leverage? He says he isn't, but he's not exactly honest/consistent. Sadly, this is why nobody actually thought he was dumb enough to do this. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/live/trump-tariffs-live-updates-china-retaliates-with-34-tariff-as-trump-digs-in-vows-to-never-change-policies-191201052.html

I'm having a hard time understanding how you think that I think it's "smart," to NOT put blanket tariffs on EVERY Nation(but Russia). No...I'm not "that smart," it's just the person who implemented these(illegally by the way, tariffs are supposed to go through both houses) is just that dumb and then there are people like you who...have absolutely NO clue what you're talking about. This is like threatening China and Russia with War at the same time and people saying, 'hey, that's a bad idea,' and then people of your ilk saying, 'if it's such a bad idea, why aren't YOU president or advising the President!' I guess when you laugh at the idea that US is leading in AI, it may make sense that someone pointing out the market dumping 20%...in a BULL Market is a BAD thing, that may be confusing to you. To most people, they understand that.

Oh...and I don't think Trump listened to Ron Paul on this one;

This might be the least surprising accusation I've seen.
