  1. Caldwell beat Metcalf...twice. But it doesn't make the second any less shocking.
  2. Sure, but nobody who'd won 3 titles had ever lost another NCAA Match before Yianni went down this year. So...ya know...that means something...right? Seriously, I think Glory has a 1 in 10 shot at knocking off Lee given it'd be on Sat night. Yianni...I thought Gomez MIGHT be able to beat him again, but that was healthy and wrestling well all season. I think he has a boring tournament and wins like...9-2 or so.
  3. If you look further, don't look for the video. I still can't get that image out of my head...or images. It'd be like if our Seals did this and they were celebrated for it. https://asbarez.com/azerbaijani-atrocities-including-mutilation-of-female-soldier-detailed-to-foreign-diplomats/
  4. Yeah, this is a BRUTAL way to go for any kid, especially a kid with a...legit chance to make a run and maybe get into the finals or semis(I don't remember the bracket off the top of my head...I think he was on Yianni's side as the #9 though). Anyway...yeah, I'd rather see a kid with one more chance. But, he's an All American.
  5. Gomez vs Parco? If Gomez is healthy, they'll wrestle in the Semis.
  6. Yeah...what's he care? The #1 seed didn't even make it. That's part of the absurdity of ignoring past results.
  7. I'm sorry, I just can't wrap my head around that. The argument was made if you attack another Country, you shouldn't be allowed in the Country. And if it IS ok in your culture and your celebrated for raping and then desecrating a young women's dead body while you post it online and your special forces become goddamn hero's because of it, maybe they're just that fvcked up and they shouldn't be allowed in irrespective of their culture, societal norms...or intent. It's just so incredibly random what we actually get outraged over and...entirely inconsistent.
  8. Why? He's asking why you're not calling for Azerbaijan from being banned. Pretty legitimate question as they committed horrible atrocities, but they've remained as most favored Nation Status as they could prove a useful ally vs Russia or Iran or just in that region. Pretty apples to apples. I'm not sure what he didn't do well enough there and I don't know what's more serious?
  9. And that's being celebrated Nation Wide. The depravity of that alone( nevermind the other soldiers they show mutilated)...it is horrific.
  10. Yeah...if it was a Grizzly, I'd have ended up going through the digestive track of a Grizzly. BUT, ANY Bear you see with Cubs will attack and kill you if you are viewed as a Cub. I really think if I hadn't seen the Cubs about 30 seconds ahead and started to slowly back up, that Bear could have attacked. Anyway...I was fine, not about me. I just remember that fear...and then we'd watch them come in(Gramps fed them) and you could turn on the lights about 60 yards away in the Summer and there'd be 4-6-8 Bear out there and then 20 yards away, you'd see up to 10-15 Deer. They were tiny compared to Grizzly Bears, but the way they just ripped the meat from the bone, it was wild. We did have some big ones. Had a cousin shoot a 600 LB Black Bear out the window(pretty sure that was illegal, but that was like 20 years ago). ANYWAY, original story. Grizzly and throwing yourself into one. That's absolutely insane.
  11. It's his hand movement that has me messed up. He comes out and moves like a JV kid who was taught stance and then a level change...but he's not sure what to do with his hands. And then you shoot and he fakes one way, gets about 3/4ths of the way around and hops to the other side for a TD, or just uses that 11 foot wingspan to run through an ankle pick he has. The B1Gs made me a believer. He's got a 10-15% chance to win this...or maybe make the finals. Much higher than I'd have thought 6 weeks ago.
  12. I love Dake...and it seems like people generally have a great deal of respect for him.
  13. Howard will be back at '25. '33...they've got like 9 kids who could Wrestle it. Maybe David Evans wrestles '33 next year. I don't know. I suspect they'll be just fine.
  14. Yeah...I said as much. I thought pretty clearly. I AM saying, "what about China." Because they're sending millions of people who belong to one ethnic group to re-education camps and killing...who knows how many. -Because if you're NOT comparing which countries are left out of the Olympics due to the atrocities they're committing, you're kinda being a hypocrite. I'm just wasn't using the term because this isn't Twitter, but if you want to call it "whataboutism," I'm fine with that. What about what Russia has done makes it so much worse in terms of foreign policy than what China is doing? Is ethnic cleansing somehow acceptable but the War in Ukraine not? THAT is where the line in the sand is? How about China THREATENING to invade Taiwan? How much more do they need to be un-worthy? So again, call it whataboutism, I call it some measure of consistency. SOME standard that we adhere to....
  15. 1-2. Gantz, the 165 and #1 seed went 1-2 as well.
  16. A 6th year Sr who was Wrestling in his first NCAA Tournament and a Soph who went 1-2 the previous year with a SV win over the 28 seed. I...yeah, I can't spot the difference between that and Aaron Brooks as the 3 seed!
  17. I don't think you're off at all. This seems like it's sensitive subject, but again...just want to point out the absurdity of seeding Yianni #2 in his own conference. I can't wait for Carter Starocci to be a 4X defending National Champ...coming off an Olympic Gold. He injury defaults a match after turning an ankle early in the year and ends up...as a #4 seed because we've banned rationale thought from the seeding process!
  18. That's really what it comes down to. Just basic common sense. Yianni was the #2 seed this past weekend. I understand how the ridiculous way we seed works...and I have a problem with it. I don't see where that is conflicting. When everyone can plainly state they KNOW Brooks is the best in the weight and he's the 3 seed when 3 guys have 1 loss, it's silly. He lost to a guy that Keck beat. I don't care. He's beaten Keck and he's...again, won multiple National Titles at this weight.
  19. I mean...it seemed pretty simple to me. Try and get O'Toole extended, keep distance. It made plenty of sense. Carr and Hamiti are built pretty similar. It'd make sense he'd try and watch what Carr has had success with. Hamiti is a different dude though. I see people compare him to Ali(I know half jokingly, but the inference that he's smooth). He looks herky jerky to me. Not really all that smooth at all. Ends up doing the same and being effective, but...he looks a little funny. 165 is gonna be exciting. think it's a lot lower % that we get a 3rd KOT-Carr matchup than most are predicting. If that's Carr getting upset or KOT, IDK. Amine could beat O'Toole and Griffith, we just keep writing that kid off and for no good reason! I haven't finished up my bracket yet, but..I have no clue what I'm gonna do there.
  20. Hamiti did look a LOT quicker and just...more relentless on his attacks. I don't know if he'll beat KOT, but...damn, he looks good. A lot better than he looked just at that time. He's forcing his offense more whereas he was more trying to score on counters earlier.
  21. Ok, his proposed budget.
  22. I thought I read about this ~a year ago. A friend(the one crazy SOB who WOULD probably try and do some stupid shit like that) sent me a link. I could have sworn it was ESPN. And he sent it because we'd both known someone who'd been attacked by a Grizzly. I came across a black bear in a pretty remote area once...about half a mile away from where I was coming and a quarter mile where I was going. I just saw...I don't even remember how many Cubs, but I know there were at least 2(I was about 11-12). And they came out on this 4-wheeler trail that I rode all the time up by my families land(Uncle, Grandparents, Dads). I knew enough to freeze up and then just start walking backward and hope that Mother Bear was not coming out behind me. Finally I saw it walk out onto the road, look right at me and...just completely dismiss me as a threat. It probably came out ~30 seconds later, so I don't know how far I'd backpedaled in the meantime. It wasn't a big bear. Maybe 250? 500 pound Grizzly? I can't even fathom...and the guts it took for that kid to throw his body against the Grizzly...crazy. One of the ballsy-est stories I've ever heard.
  23. Oh, and with regard to the Police, I would guess it comes from the Republicans voting against Biden's Budget to increase funding to Police departments and hire over 100,000 new Police.
  24. Well...the IRS one is just pure fiction. They're not adding 80,000 new IRS "agents." They've got about 80,000 employees now and 10,000 of them are agents. They're trying to hire 80,000 employees because they're understaffed and are expected to lose 50K+ in employees to retirement. Just...right off the top, a large chunk of that money is going to updating their infrastructure and adding actual representatives you can speak to on the phone. 4 years ago I had a plan with a 5600 dollar deductible. Never went out of network, had a surgery in January...wrote a check for the exact amount for my deductible. Kept the receipts, could not actually speak with my insurance company in person without a 5-6 hour wait. Yet they were still able to just take another 4K out of my tax returns because the IRS had antiquated systems and is extremely understaffed. Took over 3 years to get my money back because I couldn't actually get a person on the phone at the IRS. This puts them around the number of actual employees they had in the early 90s. But it wasn't quite as fun of a scare tactic as "80,000 new agents all at once coming to take your money away."
  25. I've thought about it as long as I care to. I was responding to your statement that you don't think ANYONE has any problem with Parker Keckeisen as the #1 seed. Well...I do. 2X defending Champ, won the B1Gs when Keckeisen was a Sr in HS as a True Freshmen. He's got 3 losses in his career. Keckeisen and Hidlay ALSO have losses this year. No good reason for Brooks to NOT be the #1 seed. There's very little common sense used in these seedings. @PortaJohn follows up by saying because he "only" Wrestled X number of matches, he was seeded where he should have been...despite being the best in his weight and probably top 3 pound for pound. So he knows it's stupid as well. He's saying it right there. He's proven he's the best at this weight. Look at Brooks matches this year? They're mostly top 20 except for Iowa(not his fault), should have been, Wisconsin...and 2 of his first 3 vs Lock Haven and...someone else. Keckeisen has 6 total. So in fewer matches Wrestling in the B1G, Brooks has more quality wins. And a lot of Keckeisen's big wins are over B1G Wrestlers in much closer matches.
