  1. LOL...yup, that's about what I thought!
  2. Yeah, cool. ANOTHER Gif. Why don't you break it down for us? He should have played up the injury the next day like it was a WWE event because that's what he'd have done if he was in public relations! He'd have limped to the mat like he was in SOO much pain they were all saying, "no Spencer, it's not worth it!" And he'd have pulled up his straps...struggling to do so and gritted it out so the public perception was different! Cool story. Silly...kinda nonsense. Uncle Chael CLEARLY missed the mark here. And that's without all the silly nonsense that he just got factually wrong. But hey, the important thing here is....well, you know Chael and you love Gifs!!!
  3. LOL...cool! I probably should remember having never wrestled, you might be in awe being around someone who's well known for Wrestling. That actually IS a good point. Beyond that, I guess yes, once I make it past adolescence, I'll understand why someone actually had to point out that Chael's personna when promoting a fight is NOT actually who he is! Next you'll tell me he actually DID lose in the UFC and the whole "Undefeated, never lost a round," schtick is part of that persona! Here's the thing LBJ...I understand why HE'S got a schtick. It made a guy who didn't have the greatest UFC career--very good, not an all-time great--one of the BIGGEST stars in the sport. What I DON'T get is your little schtick? You gonna parlay this into a super successful podcast or some type of endorsement deal through intermat? Yeah, yeah, you're still rooting for me. I got it!
  4. I'd lean Parris on #7 and not just lean Parris on #6, but that's a big edge. Starocci may have the better case for it, but man, his arrogance is annoying. Saying because the UFC Champ was a D2 Champ, that's "beginners stuff where he comes from?" That it'd be "easy." The first may be true, the second is not and is asinine. He's crossed over from swagger and a little arrogance, but mostly supreme confidence to making some kinda silly comments.
  5. LeHigh NOT throwing the challenge brick when Humphreys was CLEARLY out and earned an escape with time left on the clock in the Semi's vs Auston O'Conner in what would have tied the match up.
  6. From what I've heard, this sounds more like the Jordan Holm situation.
  7. The middle brother and getting into a fight is one thing. Sexual assault? Whole other thing. And I know it's asinine, ignorant and I'm putting absolutely no weight behind this, but he does strike me as the type of guy who'd just assume a girl wanted him and push and not be a big fan of the word no. But that's a very biased take, lets allow the courts to figure it out.
  8. Dude, I was joking. Probably in poor taste. He DID give a great interview compared to most and he did articulate his thoughts well. They are usually boring cliches. Even worse right after a guy gets done wrestling. I thought it was funny, how he was self deprecating, all of it. I was...100% kidding and in agreement with you.
  9. LOL...that tracks. I remember camping with my Cousins when I was a kid...and my Uncle was trying to put this fan together. I don't know what made it difficult...it was a fan. But this was also when I was like...5 or 6(so nearly 30 years ago now). He just took a wrench maybe...and just started beating the hell out of that fan...pieces flying and I just remember him saying, "why me," all prompted by his wife nagging the hell out of him complaining about how hot it was. We still tell that story. So yeah, Spencer's mom losing her shit and breaking her glasses...I can understand that. It may turn into a Meme, but I get it. It was usually just as bad for my family when I lost as it was for me in retrospect...and I'm sure that's the case for everyone. Now Spencer's Mom was an elite athlete herself and hyper competitive, so can't throw any shade her way for that!
  10. C'mon...you know EXACTLY what he's saying. Watch some of the Basketball being played. I just watched a game, player left, sideline reporter said it was a thumb injury. That doesn't require an MRI to determine if there were torn ligaments or a broken thumb, it was a general injury. Or, any other sport. "Marvin Harrison Jr injured his left leg, he's going to try to give it a go in the 2nd half," or "he's doubtful to return," whatever. It doesn't require a full medical diagnosis as he said. Finding out down the road when there aren't millions(potentially) or people talking about it/watching it...is NOT the same. It was a trending topic on Twitter(both the loss and the MFF Saturday Morning).
  11. Ok, should have read through all the posts. Seems like my issues were all addressed. I like Chael, his fight commentary is good...or at least it seems like it for someone who's not a huge MMA fan and doesn't follow all the details, but this was just such...nonsense. He is right about the regrets. No matter what, you've got 'em. Win 1, you should have won a 2nd. Short of that, I don't think there's anything else I agreed with in there.
  12. This was kinda ridiculous. Not as bad as the first time I listened and I thought he was saying he was limping so bad the refs had to ask if he could wrestle...but it's almost more ridiculous he wants to make this a big PR thing and MAKE that the narrative. Lee was fine. Maybe he had a little injury, but it's not as bad as he's been. I should ask first, was he actually "favored" to win the Olympics in '20...which ended up being '21 and coming up? Who picks the favorites? I didn't think he was likely to go straight from College to HS and immediately dominate. He's great because of how good he is on top. You don't get nearly as much time to turn people in Freestyle. Clearly he'd have been a contender, but the Olympic favorite and #1 in the Olympic rankings? I don't know he's wrong there, but that feels wrong. Now, ESPN paid for this and a big part of this was Spencer Lee? LOL...did they? Was it really? Did they pay one penny more for Spencer Lee this year than last year when he wasn't Wrestling? They've had the rights for how long now? They made him the main event? That's silly. Second, he just compared this to LeBron James, right? I like Basketball...I know this isn't allowed for a Wrestler, but I'm still a big fan. You hear of "Load Management?" The best teams will routinely sit their stars for random games for no reason other than they dont' want them to get hurt. That people don't Wrestleback has absolutely NOTHING to do with why Wrestling isn't mainstream. It's also not an issue the NCAA has...meaning the D1s. It's rare and it's usually when someone has a legitimate injury. If he was talking about the Conference Tournaments, more legit. Not clue about Oregon state tourney, but it's not an issue at most state tournaments. Maybe he's on to something with regard to the MFFs on the backside. I think it's a bad idea and that most guys at the D1s compete out of respect and...because it's important. So as I said, rare. Mekhi Lewis in '21 rare. A legit injury. And what type of injuries are we punishing? Concussions? Would those be exempt? How about if you get injured while wrestling then? I doubt that's going to go over well. In Conference, you should probably count it as a loss so it impacts seeding, but that's not what we're talking about here. Finally, REPEATEDLY calling him a "little boy" is...ridiculous. I think he's 24 years old. Maybe even 25. He was a boy in 2015. He's a grown man now.
  13. I don't understand what that has to do with this topic...other than for you to find a way to say you know Chael.
  14. He also stated they "needed" David Carr next year to win the Title.
  15. I can't find it, but what was it about and or do you have a link?
  16. I didn't know this. So...all the more impressive. He is one relentless SOB also. He's NEVER going to lose a match because he's out-worked.
  17. Yeah, I remember the one you're talking about with Stieber. He ends up in a full crab ride to end the period IIRC. That was clearly a TD. A much more definitive TD. Yianni's was different. Got the leg in-which, I think did constitute a TD, but it's not a hill I'd die on. It's a 51/49 call and honestly, with the rules changing, again, not positive, but I thought getting that leg was 2, get behind the arm and it's 2. . But it was definitely a questionable one. With Stieber v Oliver, I was just referencing the last TD...or non-TD in 2012 that would have given Oliver the W as time ran out. I will say, BOTH of these matches are why I don't just automatically consider 4X Champs superior to 3X Champs. Close wins that another ref could well have called differently and you now have 2 3X Champs rather than 4. 2 EXTREMELY class calls in the finals. Not to diminish the end result, but are they better than Mcllravy for example(the one guy who's constantly being overlooked IMO). Don't know for sure, but give me Lincoln over Stieber at 142/141. Not to bring this whole subject back up as it's kinda been beaten to death. Anyway, I'll let you finish that work.
  18. Messenbrink has the chance to be where Levi Haines is in a years time. Within the past 12 months, he's teched Paniro Johnson, Henson, beat Gaitan(who beat Haines in the Super 32). He's just relentless. Reminds me of Mcllravy a bit...waaaay to premature, I know....also a bit of a loose cannon in the best way from what I understand. The kid is fanatical about Wrestling, hates to lose a single go. Got to the point where he wasn't allowed to practice with the AWA guys because...he'd get a little frustrated and get a bit extra aggressive. Maybe he's not where Haines is(though I genuinely believe he can be)...he's a pretty safe bet to be an AA early on in his career. He's just the U20 Finals. He loses, but you can see it's all there, he just needs to maybe slow down AT TIMES... Now...I didn't think recruiting Griffith for a year to knock Facundo out was a good move for PSU, but someone with 4 years? Let them battle it out....if he wants to go to PsU. I have absolutely no clue. Mizzou would actually be my guess, but I don't know what let to Cal Baptist or what led to such an early transfter.
  19. No...he is not Spencer Lee sized. If he was Spencer Lee sized, he'd NEVER have been able to wrestle at 149 and lost almost exclusively to AAs(Van Brill I think is the only non AA he lost to. Bartlett is like...5'7. Lee is tiny at I'd guess 5'2. He wasn't wrestling up 2 weights. He was a good, solid 141; Oh...you're surprised he's articulate? I think there's a word for that! But seriously...you're right. These kids are WAY more comfortable in front of cameras and Bartlett in particular didn't offer the, "Just my support system, my Faith in our lord and savior and hard work...just keep grinding, it's what I'm all about." I don't blame 'em, but it is refreshing when guys give much more well rounded interviews and actually share something of interest. Otherwise, they're pointless.
  20. I'm not seeing anything in there that suggests he'd cut down from '41 to '33 after taking a 3rd. Seems like he's settling in and feeling good. Are you talking about the "chubby, looked terrible at '49," comments? I think this may be a stretch, but we'll see.
  21. You think that 2 vs Mckenna was that bad? It was debatable to me, but he gets the leg in, McKenna has to start to fight to get the leg out and come back up. Yianni is obviously not in great position, so he bails...but I certainly see the argument that it was a TD. They also tweak what positions are "TDs" each year. One that's often cited is Oliver-Stieber, but again, that year the refs made it clear at the coaches meeting, that EXACT situation Oliver ended up in was not a TD. Needed to get the head out...yet that's still cited as an example of a wrestler who shouldn't have won. So I don't remember, but I thought if you got the leg in, that was a TD? Or are you not arguing with the call, just that it shouldn't have been called one? (Not arguing, just asking your opinion).
  22. Well...with respect, as I see it, Iowa was THEE program growing up. They have been the dynasty in modern Wrestling. Not just winning, but dominating...moreso than even Penn State is now. They were just on a WHOLE other level. So yeah, sure...others being 2nd with 6 AAs, there's no question most programs would kill for that. Okie State, I guess Ohio State, they'd even likely be happy with that...with the hope that they could string together some better years. IOWA though? This is like Alabama being "happy" with getting blown out by Georgia in the first round of the playoffs. I just can't see that being acceptable to that fanbase, that program. I'm also aware that Iowa has a lot of talent coming into that room...but even with their recruiting class coming up, the talent gap grows and Iowa needs a fresh approach. The grind them out, pushing style that won in the 80s and 90s is not working the same now. But, I guess that's just up to those who frequent CHA.
  23. I agree with you here...and if David Taylor ever decides to coach, I'd open up the pocket books as he's the closest to Cael as you can get(Dake or Burroughs comparable). But it's not that Tom or Terry don't "care enough."
  24. Yeah...he's great in short spurts, but he's just too much. I still like Sparks-sans the resilite nonsense, Gibbons(easily the best IMO) and then Burroughs if you're lucky enough, Robles is great. Dake's funny. I think Cox has done it before as well, right? Kessenich or whatever...he's the women who's on the sidelines for the football games. A COUPLE times it was useful having him there, ie, Mekhi Lewis with the fingers. Though...he should really have gotten out of the way so the trainer could set the damn thing after the match. But Rock is fired up, he's enthusiastic, but he seems to just argue about shit for no reason. "Control is SUB-JEC-TIVE here!" Yes...we've got that. There is some discretion by the refs.
  25. Alirez chooped the Woods down?
