  1. I can’t see Caliendo making 157, he seemed huge. I know it was stated that Kennedy certified at 157 this season though
  2. For wrestling/athletics, I’d say no, and I assume they are not full time students and thus I don’t believe their eligibility clock starts. I’d say starting the eligibility clock somewhere else should be the requirement for being considered a transfer. But for example someone saying a guy that actually wrestled at a junior college “doesn’t count” is silly.
  3. JB isn’t above criticism. I can’t remember it now but there was a comment that he made maybe like a year or so ago that I thought was worthy of criticism, maybe it’ll come back to me. But his comments on the broadcast are not worthy of criticism. Everyone including Nickal would do the same thing, and of course Cormier was the one that first brought it up. Also odd considering Starocci had already said he would “piss on Welsh’s graveyard” (not that there’s anything wrong with that either but if Nickal was taking issue with comments he should have taken issue with that too). This is the first I’ve ever heard that Burroughs is “disliked by his peers,” unless by “peers” you mean Kyle Dake. Do you have any evidence of this? And as noted JB was a world champ when Starocci was this age…
  4. I have no idea. I guess it’s also possible Kennedy cuts to 157
  5. I believe Foca and Ramirez were unenrolled part of the time
  6. 6 pages and no mention of Iowa? Oh how the mighty have fallen 125 Ayala 133 Schriever 141 can Rathjen or Voinovich make 141? 149 Rathjen or Voinovich 157 Siebrecht 165 Caliendo 174 Arnold 184 Brands 197 Glazier 285 Kueter Kennedy on the bench. I feel like that’s more reason they should have used Arnold at 184 this year, then could have redshirted him next year.
  7. Pyle said on FRL that he heard they did not reach out to Reader and that most likely it will be Bennett
  8. I guess he really only wrestled for 2 years, but I thought Fernandes would pan out better. He had one of (maybe the) the most dominant NJ state title runs ever.
  9. Maybe leaves PSU but do you think he he retires? He’s not even 50 yet right?
  10. Was it ever disclosed if Ventresca had some sort of injury this year? I know that was speculated but never confirmed that I saw.
  11. Done wrestling. Basch seemed to imply it on one of his pods, and you know Bartlett is one of “his guys.” It seemed highly likely if he won, but still a decent possibility even if he didn’t.
  12. Yeah, my guess is Bartlett doesn’t come back
  13. Well the one thing that really might be would be the Big Ten and SEC leaving the NCAA…
  14. This is why I don’t think the portal is “the end of college wrestling.” There have also been a fair amount of guys transfer out of some of the top schools as well.
  15. Good stuff. Although 2023 125 was really just because the 27 & 28 seeds wrestled for 7th place. The rest of the AA’s were 2, 4, 10 (previous finalist), 8, 3, 1. When did they start seeding all 33 again?
  16. Surprised no Dake mentions yet. I don’t think it’s realistic (or smart) but it’s much more realistic than suggestions that teams like Iowa or Wisconsin should hire him.
  17. Should it be rewarded 5x as much?
  18. Can’t he just want the scoring to more accurately reflect the difficulty, and it not be about how it may have effected his team?
  19. Either increase wins to 2 on frontside and 1 on backside, or decrease bonus points on the backside.
  20. Well like everything with NCAA tournament scoring, it’s heavily weighted by high placers. After PSU, Iowa and Michigan, most of those points were from 1 guy (including OSU). Munoz OrSU 17 Buchanan OU 17 Echemendia ISU 13.5 Noto LH 13.5 Olejnik OkSU 10 Of course OSU would have had more from transfers if Spratley did better which many predicted him to do although we know 125 was crazy.
  21. Delaying kindergarten by a year by doing another year of preschool, and delaying your HS freshman year by a year to do nothing but train and play video games, are apples and oranges. Delaying kindergarten is very common and there is nothing illegal about it, although it is an example of privilege. i know repeating 8th grade for athletes is somewhat common, but I was not aware it was common for kids to do nothing but train and play video games during that year. In my area the kids that repeated 8th grade usually went to private school though (another example of privilege I guess), because I imagine the public schools weren’t on board with holding back a kid that was ready for HS.
