  1. Willie did say there was a major curveball. This would certainly fit that definition.
  2. Have to imagine the Mirasola brothers might be on their way out. Bono to the unemployment line, Askren and Mirasolas to Wisconsin?
  3. “While supporting Trump”
  4. I think RV is being a little extreme but he’s not really wrong: 1) Like most sports these days, “privilege” helps a lot in wrestling, by providing access to better coaches, partners, and competition. Obviously the guys still need to work hard and have some talent to succeed at the higher levels, but they have a leg up on guys that don’t have access to those things. 2. It is a lot easier for a poor kid to play football or basketball at the park than to find somewhere to wrestle without hurting yourself. And let’s be honest, the best athletes (regardless of privilege) will generally play basketball, football or baseball because that’s where the most money is. On that note, I do believe it’s true that talented but poor basketball players will often get outside financial support to join club teams etc in the hopes of getting a % down the road as an agent or something. 3. I wouldn’t say “the Republican Party is the party of privilege” or whatever, but specific to high school sports, “privilege” is generally found in the suburbs, which do generally lean R. 4. Note that up until this point I have not mentioned race, but since you did, well for one, how are we defining “so many” here? The only ones I’ve seen from the last 2 years are Starocci, Steveson and Arujau, but I could have missed some. Probably worth noting that I’m pretty sure all three of them have one parent that is not a minority, no clue if that parent influenced their political leaning (particularly as Trump’s support among minorities did grow in 2024), but it’s possible.
  5. To be fair, he was only one match away from this happening. But, he does seem to follow the not all that uncommon occurrence of tOSU guys finishes getting worse (7th/R12/BBQ)
  6. Never heard anyone besides Mineo say that then, but may have missed it
  7. Basch confirmed that Welsh visited Stillwater in December.
  8. If anything, Wyatt’s pins were more impressive than Carter’s. Carter did not pin a single NCAA qualifier this year. Wyatt had 7, including 2 over the guy that finished 4th. But, I will acknowledge that the “dominance” and “quality of competition” criteria were pretty close between Wyatt and Carter. I know most of the talking heads poo pooed it, but IMO, where it wasn’t close was the sportsmanship criteria. Speaking of the talking heads, @Husker_Du and Basch arguing Wyatt vs Carter was frickin hilarious
  9. I agree. But what if I show you a heavyweight with 13 pins and a 184 pounder with 6 pins, then who is more dominant? No particular wrestlers in mind here, just making up some numbers
  10. I’m as big of a heavyweight hater as anyone here, but heavyweights in D1 and heavyweights in HS are a different universe. I know you “didn’t mention Wyatt,” but he did pin Trumble twice, not exactly your typical heavyweight.
  11. Fix had 2 losses to non-champs (McGee and Phillippi), and also only 7 in total
  12. But he only has 1. The crazy thing about Caliendo IMO is the number of them
  13. Is Peterson to Iowa confirmed? They didn’t seem to think so on FRL IIRC they also said him being mad about the coaches not throwing a brick might be part of the reason why he’s leaving?
  14. He’s probably not even the best Iowa 157-174 pounder from the last 5 years
  15. They do have Merrill at 197
  16. I kinda feel bad for Carter because I think most of the Twitter stuff was an act and he was just doing it to get people talking, and it worked. Yet it might have cost him the Hodge. Oh and I totally forgot it was Welsh’s graveyard that he pissed on, lol…
  17. Was he injured any more at the end of the season? He was also right with Haines this year too, and beat Kennedy twice who got 4th at NCAA’s. Seemed to me like he just had a bad postseason.
  18. …is the only person that beat Michael Caliendo in an attached match, that hasn’t won a NCAA title? Looked into Kharchla’s wrestlestat after Rocco Welsh claimed he needed better partners. In 2023 he beat Michael Caliendo at NCAA’s, although Kharchla only finished R12 and Caliendo got 7th. But I noticed that since his redshirt year, Caliendo has had 14 losses. They were to: Mitchell Mesenbrink 6x Keegan O’Toole 3x Shane Griffith 2x Dean Hamiti David Carr and Carson Kharchla. That’s got to be some sort of record for most # + highest % of total losses to eventual National Champs right?
  19. Interesting that he’d rather be on the bench at OSU than PSU, although I suppose he could join the battle for 133.
  20. Ok then it sounds like the most likely answer to my question is that maybe he did actually “fall out of love” with tOSU after he made that post
  21. Well if Minnow is to be believed (maybe not), allegedly Welsh was in Stillwater around when the earlier rumors started. So it’s possible OSU didn’t really wait until he officially went in the portal either
  22. I mean to be fair you literally asked someone earlier “why do you think Welsh is lying” (and that person never even accused him of lying) And my question was serious. It’s certainly possible he didn’t “fall out of love with tOSU” until after he made that post. But it’s also possible actions by PSU influenced those feelings
  23. Are you saying that Welsh lied when he made the xpost saying “The Ohio State University is home”? Or that he only “fell out of love with tOSU” after that?
  24. I believe the 3 of them were all from the same club no?
