  1. He did give up his redshirt for the team, but he still has another year if he wants it. In theory he could redshirt next year instead, so could Lemley.
  2. Fish in the portal too apparently
  3. Is it really that common for holdbacks to not do any schooling though?
  4. It’s not just wrestling fans that poke fun at the Cornell Ag school. Which yes is still far better than the school I went to. I’m also on record as stating the Covid year + transfer portal + NIL is great for athletes that are able to use it to get graduate degrees. I know some of the Michigan guys already had graduate degrees which is awesome, but I’m skeptical that they’ll actually finish their masters in social work, but hopefully they do! At first glance the Real Estate Development certificate does seem like something that can be earned in a year though.
  5. I never said that isn’t the case, but isn’t it true that the Ag School is by far the easiest to get into? This Michigan thing might be worse anyway. Are there any prerequisites to get accepted for a masters of social work? Apparently you can get in with an undergrad degree in journalism.
  6. Right next to Northern Illinois University of the Ivy League
  7. Better than selling magic rocks or whatever
  8. Well the guys I listed do have 7 AA finishes between them. Of course that only one of them AA’ed this year is further proof of the depth of the weight
  9. Not quite all, although looks like Barnett is the only AA with no more eligibility. Plus some other guys like McKee, Kaylor, DeAugustino and Palmer.
  10. Cornell Ag school 2.0 confirmed.
  11. Uh, Northern Illinois isn’t an Ivy. He still had eligibility, but I’m sure he had graduated;
  12. I assume the thinking is: College wrestling runs on donations Getting AA’s helps with getting donations So in theory, less AA’s = less donations = potential to get cut
  13. Looks like Michigan might be the next “Cornell Ag school.” Between their 5 transfers (the 4 starters + Cannon), it looks like 3 are in Social Work and 2 were doing a “Real Estate Development Cert,” which I believe is what Suriano did as well.
  14. Apologies, for some reason had it backwards and was thinking Truax was seeded 5th and took 6th. Point still stands though, for analysis like this Starocci should be considered a 1. So that makes Davis the only underperformer, although a 1 seed DNP’ing is a bigger difference than 7 to 3 and 6 to 5. But to be fair 1-20 at 125 probably all could have been considered the same seed.
  15. Transfers (not counting transferring from schools that cut their programs) that AA’d and achieved their highest finish this season. Of course not all of these “chased the money”: Anthony Noto Caleb Smith Austin Gomez Quinn Kinner Mitchell Mesenbrink Izzak Olejnik Michael Caliendo Edmond Ruth Trey Munoz Lucas Davison Yaraslau Slavikouski (Apologies if I missed any, also didn’t count guys that finished equal to a prior placement)
  16. Yeah so like I said if you count Starocci as a 1 seed, they actually underperformed vs seed. Kasak was the only other guy to outperform his seed, but both Davis and Truax underperformed vs seed. The rest performed up to their seed.
  17. That’s the guy from Davis/Kilkeary too…
  18. Who doesn’t count? I can see the argument for Kerk, but Truax, Nagao and Mesenbrink were all via the portal.
  19. I can’t even think of any with more than two, and the only one with two that I can think of is Indiana (Lee and Fongaro)
  20. Did he lose to any backups or guys with a career record worse than 9-19?
  21. Well Renteria was undefeated this year! Will be interesting to see how he does next year
  22. Nothing against Maximo Renteria, he’s a D1 wrestler which is more than the overwhelming majority of wrestlers can say. But he has a career record against D1 opponents of 9-19. Has anyone had a worse in season loss during the year they won a national title (not counting injury defaults)? Just goes to show that anything can happen during the season and you can still win a national title. Oh and 125 gonna 125
  23. Seems to be working OK for Penn State
