  1. if he walks around at 64kg 7kg of water manipulation is not insane but would certainly be miserable.
  2. hopefully he can find what works for him. Obviously a super talented wrestler seems to have not just been able to find the right environment and maybe even weight.
  3. I doubt they beat out either team but the 2021 Iowa team I think had Lee,Eierman, kemerer,Eierman seeded 1 and desanto and cass seeded 3 it probably falls off a cliff a bit after that though.
  4. Have not read through the thread just wanted to say in a recent interview Cael mentioned likely not taking part in such event. I think if he maintains that stance its really going to hurt the legitimacy of the event, don't get me wrong I am still very excited it's just hard to get pumped for an event when far and away (for the time being... I hope) 1 team is not partaking.
  5. Peterson has been a rollercoaster this season. He started the year losing to Sagaris and then looking like he may get teched by v rob before he defaulted. When he returned though he was money beating Mcgowan (who I think is going to be an absolute threat in March he just needs mat time), Moran twice and Mccrone most recently 11-4. After the McCrone match though he loses to Nicolar Rivera who is good but not a guy I would pick to AA maybe blood round. All that to say I thought Dean could maybe knock off Luke a week ago but now I am far less confident, will be a fun style matchup though.
  6. I believe it's considered "emoting" on someone.
  7. I don't know him I'm not trying to attack his character. I would think when you are as gifted at he is to where he's been able to do a sport in season and be better than 99% of people that are probably dedicating their entire life to that singular sport, It may be hard mentally to adapt to now allocating more time than you ever have to a single sport and having less success (relative to the level he is at) than he had previously allocating far less time to it. I could be extremely off base it just seems like the ability he has despite maybe being a little undersized is not meeting expectations.
  8. he was all state in baseball, a 4 star in football and never lost a in season high school wrestling match.
  9. I wonder if a kid who was the best at everything he did in high school is having a hard time coping with not being the best and its why he took the year off of football and maybe is having issues developing his wrestling.
  10. Crookham does some stuff with his knees that are just not anatomically correct.
  11. He was really really good in hs then was at a community college for two years I believe. I think its weight management thats his main issue. He beat Poulin twice last year and Kaylor so hes on the level I think it's just managing the cut. He did get hurt in his first match at NCAA's last year it looked like he was struggling to walk not sure if that carried into this season or not he wrestled his second match so I don't think it was crazy serious.
  12. I think it could very much come down to draws. Knox feels like he is always going to be a bad matchup for Ayala because Ayala finishes pretty methodically which plays into Knox's scrambling and Knox is not really going to pressure into him for the slide bye. On the other hand you have Bouzakis who I think can beat both guys his power will be an issue for both and it feels like hes a lock for a reversal at least against Knox maybe not Ayala. Shawyver and Byrd are so baseline though and pick there spots really well which seems to be the recipe to beat nick essentially letting him beat himself. When Shawyver is at his best I think he be the best guy at the weight but then you have the Davis and noto losses which have not aged well. The real wild card is if Nasir Bailey regains last season form or if hes hurt/the cut is draining him. I will have to see some more of him against higher level comp but Braxton Brown is killing people this year outside of Romney.
  13. If he is done for the year, we have 1 not so crazy favorite and 2 guys I would have never even thought about going to the year in my opinion. Those guys being Drake Ayala, Tyler knox, Zeth Romney. If any of those 3 did not AA I would also not be overly shocked, but I think given body of work, they have to be the favorites without Crookham. edit: You could throw in Byrd, I did not because I do not like how many close matches he has. I think it's hard to win a weight at NCAA's when every match you wrestle with within the margins.
  14. I want to see Peyton Hall vs Mitch they did not hit last year so there is still some style intrigue. I do not think Hall beats him, but he has had an outstanding year and he could potentially present some similar issues that Hamiti did in the big 10 finals.
  15. Unless Marcus does some serious lifting, I would imagine he is at 133 next year I think his eyes are on the 61kg spot over the summer and he weighed in at 134 and some change at ironman.
  16. kilkeary hit him with a modified version of it (an illegal cut back) in dapper dan their senior year.
  17. Is Ali reza slated to be the guy for the next cycle at 74kg? I thought he looked good in the finals at the last two junior worlds.
  18. Im not sure why I feel like Van dee gets this one against Davis. I like that he kind of forces exchanges to happen. A lot of guys allow Davis to dictate where the match goes. Now if he can't create good opportunities against Davis which is possible it could lead to bad shot entries and easy scores for Davis but I thought Van dee looked really good against Farber and Wells in his last two and does have the win over Ragusin who when healthy I would probably pick over Davis.
  19. I know the likelihood of this is all but zero, however I was not quite aware of how competitive this dual could be at least on the mat through 157. I expect Penn state to win the majority of the matches, but I do think Nebraska could very much win any of the 5.
  20. yep! they did a freestyle match and then a grappling match ever, both were very lopsided on both sides.
  21. I would imagine the athletes definitely overvalue themselves to an extent but it's not exactly a rich man's sport so I find it hard to believe if they tossed them decent money, they could not get more matches done. Not knowing what flows margins are for these events though that's much easier said than done.
  22. the only mma guy I can recall doing a cross over was Aljo when Rby absolutely dogged him giving up like 30lbs I think a lot of it is pride
  23. I think it's generally a lack of willingness to pay the athletes to put it on the line.
  24. unless the rules are changed in greco and he gets at least one shot on top every match I don't see age really hindering him. There was not a match this go around that I thought he was in danger of losing he has truly mastered the art of modern day greco.
