  1. I saw Kerk was competing first thought was (this guy has quite the injury history why is he doing high level bjj) and then it made me wonder if his results at the trials made him think about moving on from wrestling. I could certainly be looking too much into it. wrestlers competing and r1 matchups Nolf vs Tye ruotolo: Tye is probably a top 5 p4p guy in the sport so this is going to be a tall task for Jason. Im unfamiliar if this is no time limit sub only or points like adcc's I think both give Jason paths but they both involve dominating with his wrestling and Tye getting tired. Pat downey vs Luke rockhold: Luke is a very very good grappler and hes a big human Idk how pd3's bjj is I know gordon Ryan subbed him pretty fast but Luke is not gordon Greg vs Andrew Felipe: Felipe is an absolute animal but hes a lot smaller Ill include the bjj hero profiles for the guys that don't follow much to take a gander at https://www.bjjheroes.com/bjj-fighters/fellipe-andrew#:~:text=Fellipe Andrew Silva is a,years%2C where he gained notoriety. https://www.bjjheroes.com/bjj-fighters/tye-ruotolo
  2. It's obviously garnering a ton of attention because IM and flow continue to post updates every week. I don't personally have any issue with it and I'm sure as mentioned a lot of kids think it's cool. I just think if he is not visiting these schools just removed them it's a bit disingenuous to put them on the list and then not visit and act like something happened other than they just were never actually in contention.
  3. Day 1 Amouzad (literally made Zain and musuakev look like they were nowhere near his level I dont think he can function on 2 day weigh ins at 65kg any longer he needs to go up) Zhamolov (the quarterfinal fiasco was terrible I sort of throw out the valiev match though just because they are both elite and have been wrestling each other often for a decade so that match was always going to be weird but he just absolutely dismantled Kadi and Takatani as well as beat salk rather comfortably a guy who had previously had his number) Mijan (no reason in my mind he could not win 6 people just cannot move him or handle his par tear) Azarpira (if he gets a gas tank I dont think anyone is beating him hes only 22) Kiyooka (best leg attacks to a lace out of anyone in the tournament regardless of weight) Ramazonov (not because I think he was even the best guy at his weight or even the second-best guy but this man really had no business medaling here his best result in a big tournament prior was silver at 79kg at the euros in 2020 and he did the damn thing regardless of yaz's health or brooks mental lapse he took advantage of the opportunity)
  4. 1Penn State134.51 2Iowa70.57 Based on flows last rankings Iowa would get an additional 20 points at 157 if they were to get teemer and 14 at 197 with Buchannen based on the rankings. This is also with keuter only getting 2 points at heavyweight which I think everyone would agree is probably his floor. They also have Levi second at 174 which would be 16 points and I think going up two weights with KOT second may be his ceiling. The other weights where a PSU guy could potentially fall down in my opinion are 149 with SVN at 2 just not sure how he looks after all his injuries and Kasak at 4 at 157 which is just a tough weight with guys like Antrell Taylor at 8 and being two weights up from where he started the year last year. Aaron Nagao is also at 7 at 133 which should be where he falls but he was not inspiring last year. when you account for all these things Iowa may be able to buy their way into a team race, but they would need to wrestle their ass off and PSU would likely need to under perform. adding in the additional points of the possible transfers and putting Keuter at 8 its 134.51 to 108.57
  5. If they wanted to win a national title I think they should have addressed the needs at wherever drake does not going 125/133 and 141. They would have gotten points at 157 and 197 regardless. I don't think you can beat Penn State giving up a doughnut at two weights potentially although I do think Drake should go 125 and Peterson has upside at 133. Schriever feel like he could not be a NQ at 141 though.
  6. Apparently, the same offer of 500k for a semester was extended to Teemer. I thought he could not make 157 any longer so I don't know how he fits into their lineup. Perhaps they should start paying recruits rather than guys for a single semester.
  7. I think the portal re-opens before the fall and winter semester for grad transfers.
  8. I personally like passivity. It takes a lot of subjectivity out of the sport. No points in the first 90 seconds someone is going on the clock and then it will happen again. It forces a decided winner and loser and does not allow someone to try and defend until the other guy takes a bad shot or get it to ride out.
  9. I think this is a good idea but I fear we would lose recruits and it would hurt the college product. Someone like Aden Valencia would have been another candidate for this or really any of the young phenoms now.
  10. I think we should be very encouraged by Japans results this year. They have had very strong results in the age level tournaments in the previous year's predating the United States pretty much dominating the last 2-3 years. My hope is that in 2028 we can have a similar showing that Japan just did because of the investment we have put in our cadet and junior guys.
  11. he cracked HARD at euros earlier this year so I am not 100% convinced.
  12. amouzad 8-9 hours off the scale is going to be a bitch for mus to handle later with his cig addiction.. I am anticipating 2 whirly birds a lung break challenge and at least 4 long sock pull ups on the edge.
  13. I miss the days when Kyle was teching silot so I did not have to sweat this match.
  14. I think he teched him two takedowns and some laces.
  15. he beat mus at the last ranking series and ultimately won it but he did take a loss to aliyev there.
  16. really shit decision for sea bass to jump far ankle there I think he could have gotten a stalemate
  17. I picked Azarpira as well good showing none the less hes like 21 although so is taz
  18. tevanyans gassed the should not allow this challenge
  19. Azarpira vs taz r1 could have been the finals. Im not sure what it is about Salk but he just feels like a guy you want to cheer for. Kadi is tricky though.
  20. sidakov had exploited Kyle by turning the foot up it seems everyone else made note and Kyle did not really adjust.
