  1. I believe they will do 1-2 world team camps in Colorado Springs and then all go out to acclimate together prior. For the most part I think they train at the RTC's though.
  2. @PortaJohn have you ever experienced the cocktagon at psu?
  3. He has since said he does not need surgery and will be competing. Sounds like a delayed wrestle off presumably against bhizoev.
  4. I was going through Euros and noticed Mongush and spencer had a common opponent and was diving a bit deeper into mongush and it made me think Worlds may not be the walk in the park I thought it was for Spencer but I wanted to set this up more like a dual format than just those two. 57kg: Lee (2x u20 world champ olympic silver) vs Mongush (u23 world champ 2025 senior euros champ) common opponent Bazargonov spencer won 6-3 Mongush won 5-0. Mongush also notably lost in the finals to to suda 8-8 at 61kg who is probably our 61kg's biggest opp at worlds. I will go spencer here but I think Mongush is his toughest opponent and he is on a pretty wild growth trajectory. 1-0 61kg: Jax/Vito (senior gold and bronze)/(cadet silver) vs Uguev(2x world 1x olympic gold at 57kg) Uguev still won euros this year in a controversial one to Haryutunyan. Suda that I mentioned above is probably our toughest opponent I think either guy we send beats Uguev. 2-0 65kg: Real (ranking series bronze) vs Mamedov (junior world champ senior bronze) I love Reals trajectory and how freely he has been wrestling but Mamedov is a very unique challenge that I do not think Real can overcome right now. 2-1 70kg: PJ (Junior bronze) vs Baev (world gold, junior gold, u23 silver) PJ's gives him a shot against anyone I think but Yianni got to his legs and finished pretty surgically once he got through the head hands and Baev is wrestling as good as anyone at any weight right now. I think Baev takes this one 2-2. 74kg: Carr (cadet bronze, Junior gold) vs sounds like sidakov will be going (3x world gold 1x olympic gold) Sidakov did lose to valiev at Euros prior to the injury which should give some hope that he is becoming more human. That being said Carr did not have many answers to Salkazonov who has always been a tier below sidakov so I am not ready to predict that level of upset until I see it. 3-2 Russia. 79kg: Haines (pan am champ) vs Usmanov (junior silver world gold) Usmanov is a monster I think Levis inexperience internationally may prove troublesome for him but a the same time he is going to present a pace that the European guys will not like. Usmanov is a monster though I would pick him against whomever America sent aside from maybe Kyle. 4-2 Russia. 86kg: Zahid (world bronze, junior silver) vs Naifanov/Kadiev (junior gold,u23 silver, 2x world bronze)/(2x junior gold) (the russians on X think Kadiev is the second coming however to my knowledge Naifonov beat him last time they wrestled and he was the rep at euros so I am expecting him to be there. Whoever they send I think Zahid is the best wrestler at this weight. The only question is if his cardio allows him to be the best for 6 minutes. 4-3 Russia 92kg: I am not sure who Russia sends here Karugliev is their best guy but he wrestles for greece Trent should clear whoever goes at this weight perhaps Kadiev bumps. 4-4 97kg: snyder vs Sadulaev we have seen this one before one guy appears to still be close to peak of his powers and the other has lost to a 20 year old from japan this year so I do not expect the upset we always hope for 5-4 Russia 125kg: Wyatt kills whoever they send 5-5
  5. This is awesome.
  6. If this helps other guys to have the chance to train with more Russians, I think it is a good thing. Snyder is no longer in a place to compete with Sadulaev imo so from a USA on Russia standpoint I do not think it really matters. If Gable can help get more Russians to do RAF that's also awesome.
  7. Bosco + monster garage! I wonder if he has much affiliation with Zahid if he may try and recruit him to Okst. That kids neutral game is unfreaking real.
  8. I think Jayden James originally commitment was prior to home visits last year. A lot of the stellar trained kids I think spend time at lehigh so would not be shocked if singer or Bachmann committed early if they want to go there.
  9. FCA has had a pretty big advantage at the top and bottom the last two years. The Advantage at the top is still very much there I think Joeys weight could be a huge factor because I think a match with Herring is probably close to a toss up and Jax likely bonuses him if not pushes for a tech. If he can avoid those two, I think it helps Faith Christian a ton. I am super high on Carfley if he can refine some things he has a really crazy motor and hand fights well.
  10. Valiant seems to be doing a lot more folk events than they did at their inception. I remember when Kyler beat Mason at fargo and then I believe had a bit of a down super 32 the sentiment seemed to be the kids were a lot better at free. I've noticed they have been doing the PNL stuff and did the duals with sem and lake highland last year on top of most of them going to super 32 which is really good. They also had some guys enter reno TOC the last few years I believe. I think if kids wrestle the national circuit the high school season does not really matter all that much. I think Angelo ferrari wrestled his texas schedule his last two years and ironman and that was that so the idea that you need 100 matches in a year I do not think is the case for every kid. As to the Regan question I would assume he is going there for training mostly and they may be able to enter him in ironman since its an out of state competition so it'll be the traditional 14 weights rather than PA's 13.
  11. 106: Bassett #3 113: Forrest NR 120: Regan #6 126: Carfley NR 132: Silfies NR (looked good at cadets) 138: Forrest P4P #1 144: Herring #5 150: Bassett/Butler NR (I think he probably should be beat Perry and Dimen last year) (state 8 2024 DNR postseason last year) 157: Bassett/Butler P4P #2 165: Miller P4P #4 175: O'Farrill NR (really good I think he breaks out this year shallow national schedule) 190: Pensiero NR DQ in blood round was beating the guy who took 5th 215: not sure 285: Rodriguez (State 3)
  12. Willie would have a much better idea than I would but if Regan somehow was given post season eligibility I think that Mccort team could potentially be the best high school team of all time.
  13. I thought Alejandro Herrera was going to win right away. Welsh was only a sophmore at the time and he was a senior but he was 5-0 against Welsh his senior year. He just seemed to have a college style.
  14. Pretty sure he works with Stanich a lot as well.
  15. assuming he has not regressed since worlds last year (fairly big assumption) with no Ono he would still be the pretty sizeable favorite to win worlds this year after beating uguaev fairly soundly and uguaev still winning Euros this year. Takara suda from Japan is really good but he went to criteria with Mongush who uguaev still has a decent edge on imo and irans second or third string guy so I would have Vito over him as well.
  16. I thought what Marcus did to Brock hardy was really crazy since he walks around at like 137-138 naturally. Brock looked like if he had another 60 seconds, he could have beaten Real and Marcus just outclassed him to a pretty significant degree. He has always had the ability to get to legs off his drag and off of re-attacks, but he seems to have gotten much more comfortable with head and ankle stuff I think he has improved a lot even since the open.
  17. I am interested to see what April-September of holding and cutting weight does for PJ. He is a big kid, and I believe is cutting a decent amount he is also 18. I would not be shocked if his body rebounds a little bit once he stops trying to hold the weight for a month of two and he puts on a decent bit of size. I think that is sort of what happened to Haines once he stopped trying to hold 157. When your body is in a pretty nutrient deprived state it gets very good at partitioning those nutrients, so it makes it easier to put on quality size for a period of time after until you get back into homeostasis.
  18. Just a thought experiment to show how rare this young crop of talent is. There is always a lot of turnover after the Olympics and while we had a rare group that held on for 2-3 cycles, I still think it is very promising for the future. While I am a bit pessimistic about how this team does at worlds, I think the future is incredibly bright for team USA. 18-year-old world teamers: Duke,Jax,Blaze (Bassett has beaten Valencia 5x's) 19-year-old world teamers: Lilledahl (Valencia beat woods 2x) (Joey Blaze took 4th) 20-year-old world teamers: N/A (Stanich is in the convo to make this team if he goes seniors IMO) 21-year-old world teamers: Barr, Haines 22-year-old world teamers: MM 2022 worlds (first year post trials that had a challenge tournament): 18-year-old world teamers: N/A 19-year-old world teamers: N/A 20-year-old world teamers: N/A 21-year-old world teamers: N/A 22-year-old world teamers: Yianni,Vito (Yianni was the only one to win a spot)
  19. Do you really think after those 3 matches PJ will do better against the field? If you do then I can not refute you I think yianni out wrestled him for the most but I absolutely think pj is the future.
  20. It’s munktaar and geno? Depends if masoumi has eligibility immediately unpon transfer
  21. It’s probably naive to think that a 37 year old dake would be better than a 34 year old but I could see him as our best rep if he grows into the weight. His ability to push for 6 minutes just did not seem to be there.
  22. Mostly agree. I think Luke is just really fast not sure Spencer looked slow. I have been super pessimistic about our 74kg guys even after carr beat Takatani but he seems to be his best when the moment matters the most I do wonder how what’s going on with Ben impacted Mitchell. I do not think anyone at 79kg this year was a top 10 in the world caliber wrestler which is a shame. Wyatt is really hard to predict I don’t think any of his main international opponents present the issues Trent did but at the same time Trent is probably 0-2 bbq at worlds. I’m expecting 5 medals but I think our 2027 and 2028 teams will probably be the best we have have ever had I will add I think yianni was the better wrestler currently for 70kg and I think he would have medal’d I do not think PJ will.
  23. Thought he had a better approach here he wasn’t letting PJ on his legs he just folded match 2 and I think was mentally cooked after that. In my opinion the better wrestler lost but PJ is probably our future so I’m glad he will get the opportunity.
  24. I’ve been pessimistic with this team however the only weight I do not think we can medal is 79. I would say we have a less than likely shot at 65,79,97 but I think there is a world where we walk away with 7 medals. PJ,Trent,Real are by no means favorites but could certainly navigate decent draws Spencer,Wyatt, (whoever wins 61) zahid all should medal and I think carr and Snyder are probably 50/50 or better.
  25. I would like to apologize to yianni and team USA I feel as though I cursed him.
