Once grajeda settles into his weight he is going to be a problem. Those monster garage guys are the real deal he had davnio on the ropes at u17's as an 8th grader I believe.

I am really excited to see the potential rematch with Basset at u20's I think Bassett beat him 14-12 and had to come from behind but vega was really small for 65kg then.

Legit or Pretender- Arash Yoshida (Japan - 97kg)
Truzzcat replied to Wrasslin's topic in International Wrestling
He was not competitive with Azarpira last year. I think he has grown into 97kg better. He is definitely a contender I just don't know where his ceiling is, not because I don't think he has the talent. If he continues to train in Japan though I have no idea who is going to be able to push him at this point given his size and the lack of depth in Japan at that weight. I would also like to add I think there is a chance that Atimukhans results may have been more of an outlier compared to how good he actually is. -
Sergio is outstanding, if you are not as good as him he is going to kill you. I was pretty surprised when he lost to Mendoza at ironman he just could not get through the head hands and mendoza picked his spots really well to avoid being in on the leg where Vega is comfortable. I think improving in the handfight is probably what he needs the most. I honestly think he has the frame to be a 149 I would assume the future projection for okie state is Jax 141 vega 149 unless they suck Jax down to 133 and go Jax and one of vega and hughes at 141 and 149. I am not sure about the weight allowance at dapper dan because Vega finished the season at 144 which was 146 with the 2lbs.

He was supposed to go visit there and then that got canceled last minute a day or two prior to his commitment. Certainly could not have been money related because PSU does not pay guys so I am not sure what the cause of that was.

I have never seen him wrestle freestyle but I feel like the way he wrestles would be very good for it. He is outstanding at sitting the corner I feel like he could get a lot of exposure from that position and I would think he could get pretty prolific on top. He is more so in the mix for me because with no word on JB, Nolf being done and chance as well as carter potentially moving up the weight has thinned out quite a bit.

57: Lilledahl over Deshazer (spencer sits) 61: Blaze over Forrest (Vito sits_ 65: Mendez over Bartlett 70: Yianni over Duke 74: Carr over Mitchell (Dake sits but I think he does 79) 79: Dake over KOT (if healthy) Hamiti if not or Carter if he sucks down or chance if he sucks down 86: Zahid over Carter/Trent/Chance (brooks sits but he does 92) 92: Brooks idk if he is healthy over Kollin Moore (did he retire?) 125: Wyatt over Mason I did this off the top of my head so sorry if any of these are glaringly bad based off this it seems like there could be a lot of turnover.

If I am I am Ryder I am going to train with DT,Zahid,Plott,Caldwell,Thompson,Lockett,Olejnik,Hamiti,Merill and using all 4 years Okie state has built and is still building a really incredible RTC I wonder if these younger guys will start to notice that.
-
If I am a coach I am taking Ryder 19 turning 20 with 4 years left over welsh 21 turning 22 with 3 years left. That being said Ryder going to OT with AJ Heeg this year does not lead me to think he can beat Rocco yet.

Gable seemed to get his retroactively It always has been but the NCAA is just a business now so I don't really think they would fight him that hard.
-
Basch referenced this as his sophomore season he said hes going to petition for 3 more years I have no idea how many he has left but I would guess at least 2 including next year.
-
I wonder if Nasir and Jordan will be a package deal. I know he did not fit with DT originally but I would love to see his newfound confidence back with DT with his style.

New Penn State commit - Jayden James

Prior to this you could have certainly argued they had the best combined recruits for 2025/2026 either them or Okie state. -

I think you are safe with V rob he made a post about how NC state was the only team that wanted him to come visit. He seems like the type of guy that something like that means a lot to him. -

To the people that believe he did not get "paid" and I would like to preface this buy saying more power to you get your money I just hate when people talk about Iowa paying guys, but PSU does not. The rumored figure for Bassett from V-tech was 2 million, this was after Jayden had Verbal'd, so he had whatever offer he was getting. I think it would be insane after v-tech did not land Bassett if they were aware that Jayden was being offered to not throw some of that Bassett money at him to try and keep him as he is the next best thing for the 2026 class. So, I would assume PSU at least came close to whatever figure they were willing to throw out. -

Not overly shocking he and PJ are training partners, but he is Forrest/Bassett level in my opinion I would honestly take him over Bassett. I think the 174 projections may be a bit extreme he grew a lot his sophomore year, but he seems to have settled in around 150 since then. My hopes for okie state to catch up have greatly diminished in the last 48 hours. -

ok now I'm pissed that kid is special. -
@Husker_Du put out the crystal ball go check it out! He has ono at 141 with Blaze redshirting not really what I want to talk about just putting that out there to avoid questions about lineup. He has Ono taking third and I went through a wave of emotions. First thought was "that seems high" and then I thought actually this guy is so good on his feet it does not matter. Then I dug into the guys at the weight and came back to the conclusion that at least at 141 I think 3 is too high and there could be a few match ups where he simply starts the match down 2-0. The immediate guys that stick out to be that pose the biggest issues are the guys Willie has ahead of him Mendez and Hardy. Both of these guys I think can go into the second period down at worst 6-2 and it could very well be that folk positioning allows them to keep it closer than that and even get takedowns in situations Ono is unfamiliar.I think it is unlikely that he becomes proficient enough on bottom that he does not at least give up 2 minutes of riding and a stall point against guys that good on top. What becomes a huge factor to me is choice. If I am PSU If Ono wins the toss I think you 100% go neutral in the second. I do not think you want him going down and getting exhausted underneath. So then you are put in a position where he is tired in the third potentially down on riding time and only up a few points with stall calls. I have never seen Ono tired but there is a big difference between 6 minutes of neutral wrestling with a lot of stoppages and an intermission between periods and 7 minutes of wrestling with scrambling, leg passing and wrestling. I think his style and success of it is very predicated on his positioning and if that breaks down from fatigue I see guys being able to get his hands on the mat and run corner because of his upper body posture. Now when looking at the crystal ball the only guys I think are good enough on their feet or good enough and extending positions and limiting damage, who are also turners on top or can create enough of an image of activity to create stall calls are Frost,Lemley,Stanich,Mendez,Hardy,Jack,Composto. That is a lot of land mines for me though to predict him to do worse than third but honestly coming over to a completely new style I think just being an AA is an incredible accomplishment for him. I could be completely miss guided though and he could learn enough on bottom from zain pounding on him every day to stay active and use his explosiveness to get away on even the best guys I just don't think that's the most likely scenario first year. Just something I was thinking about on my lunch break would love to hear your guys opinions. I will add I think 133 because of the styles guys present is a much cleaner path for him.

another guy I forgot RSF (MIN) Charlie millard (askren product I think he is going to be really good)
-
He beat kasak 3-4 times in high school they would go back and fourth but I think he has been exclusively wrestling greco for about 2 years.
-
Brandon Cannon, Jesse, Ben I think will all put questions about their ability to develop to rest. However, that may just be a testament to Jaggers and Stieber.
-
I believe that is the plan but he will definitely be undersized to start.

terrible oversight on my end.
