Could we have two high schoolers on the 2025 world team?

at the time of making the team he would still be in high school I believe trials will be in April. -

PSU seems to do really well coaching their guys to have that next best thing mentality. A lot of times a guy will lose on the front side who is expected to push for potentially a title, and they just check out on the backside. PSU guys seem to wrestle the backside just as well as they do the frontside which is saying something. That being said I do not think Davis aa's as of now and contrary to what I just said if Beau were to say get a guy like Hardy in the quarters I could see him maybe dropping that match and potentially checking out being he's in his 6th year and its pretty much title or bust for him at least in his expectations I would imagine.

Matches that can go v-techs way 125 133 141 149 157 (I think this match is either 30 total points or one guy hits a big move and the other guy gets pinned or ends up chasing and shooting himself out of the match. I went with Fish by fall but I could just as easily see Hip by some form of bonus as well) 197 I predicted okie state by 33 but if v-tech had something like a 10–12-point lead at the intermission I would not be totally shocked.

125: Spratley DEC Ventresca (3-0 OKST) 133: Witcraft DEC McGonagle (6-0 OKST) 141: Jamison DEC Latona (9-0 OKST) 149: Henson DEC Young (9-3 OKST) 157: Fish fall Hipolito (15-3 OKST) 165: Amine DEC Church (18-3 OKST) 174: Hamiti MAJ Wolak (22-3 OKST) 184: Plott TECH Stewart (27-3 OKST) 197: Surber DEC Smith (30-3 OKST) 285: Hendrickson Pin Mullen (36-3 OKST) I think there is an alternate universe where tech can win this 18-12

assuming PSU is out given lineup stuff (probably not a good assumption) given his freestyle aspirations I think Okie state is the best landing spot. Perhaps Iowa will shill out the most money but I will be cheering for an okie state landing spot however my favorite destination would be him staying at Ohio State. I do believe Ladarion is probably not long for weekly weigh ins at 165 so I would imagine Rocco will still need to go up to 184 at some point for okie state. They also have Brayden Thompson who would occupy 174/184 so it may just be that Dee has to cut weight for awhile or Thompson is SOL.

Most interesting potential NCAA finals matchups
Truzzcat replied to BruceyB's topic in College Wrestling
Ill throw in some off the board ones because I think everyone has covered the main ones Ech vs Mendez/Alirez/Beau: I think Chittum burning his red shirt means that Iowa State is bumping everyone down. Ech honestly should have beaten both Ridge and Parco I do not think anyone is as prolific on top at 141 as Ridge or Parco perhaps Mendez or Hardy but I really think Echemendia could play spoiler to what is otherwise seemingly an anointed finals. Lilledahl vs Ramos vs Robinson vs Richie figs: all of these style matchups would be very fun in any iteration Hamiti vs Haines or Keegan: Probably going to be Keegan and Levi at the end of the day but Dean is still young compared to probably every senior in the country I believe he is 21 so I think he would still be developing anywhere but being with David I really think the best is yet to come for him. Meyer vs kasak: Jacori if healthy could play spoiler but his match is going to look similar vs anyone can they take him down when they get to his legs. Meyers health is also a big question mark but his skill and athleticism are undeniable. -
wilochell looked toast 2 minutes into the match, however the pace SVN put on him was also absolutely insane so hard to say it was not just that.

If we are doing simply from last year to this year I'm going Eddie ventresca. 2-7 vs d1 comp to 10-1 but even if you look at the year he AA'd he was 15-7 going into NCAA's.
-
Keegan is stellar out of the crackdown position that's where he beat carr when they wrestled. Levi has an uncanny ability to get his knees under him and pull shots in perhaps that situation plays out differently if keegan can funk and leg pass, but I feel like thats going to be a crucial point in the matchup and I give the edge to levi there.

He is joining Mccorts 157lbr who placed at ironman, who also happens to be former teammates with the two guys that were once committed to Cornell and then psu and then Rutgers. His name escapes me though.

Year 1: Duke goes right away, Kasak RS's Levi uses last year of eligibility. year 2: Kasak 157 Duke bumps to 165 MM goes 174 (not because he grows into it but because he will win it anyway) Duke said he intends to make the 70kg world team this year so I would imagine he's trying to keep his weight relatively in check for the time being.

Way too early champ picks and confidence %

174: Hamiti 10% 125: Ramos 20% 157: Shapiro 25% 197: Cardenas 30% 133: Crookham 31% 149: Henson 40% 141: Mendez 50% 184: Cstar 65% 165: MM 95% 285: Gable 99% -
Which non Penn State wrestlers will be undefeated going into NCAAs?
Truzzcat replied to ionel's topic in College Wrestling
The op is none psu wrestlers. So I excluded all of those guys and factored in schedules. Wyatt and Gable, I have the most confidence going into NCAA's unshaved and so on from there. Not picks to win NCAA's per say just to go in undefeated. -

Truzzcat replied to ionel's topic in College Wrestling
Ill go in order of most to least confident: Gable Hendrickson Parker Alirez Mendez Henson Crookham Ramos KOT Hamiti AJ Ferrari (I'm putting into place a 10-match minimum which I could see him not hitting) -
Unfortunately, I could easily see LL SVN Kasak MM Haines Cstar I will hedge and say one of LL,Kasak,Haines lose but honestly, I would bet on Kasak and Haines going undefeated with the odds of haines/o toole not wrestling or Haines simply winning being much higher imo than Keegan winning. I also think Kasak is just going to out health all the top guys this year. SVN and Henson are in tiers of their own at 149 to me I dont see anyone else moving into that tier, perhaps thats putting the cart in front of the horse with SVN a bit given sample size. I am by no means a PSU fan I pretty actively cheer against them, but I think this is one of if not the best teams ever that they currently have.

Was checking weights for ironman, Blaze weighed in at 135.8 they got 2lbs so he could have weighed as much as 140. Leads me to believe he's not even cutting weight which makes him taking second at trials and giving ono his toughest match all the more impressive to me.
-
Adam waters I believe teched or pinned his way through as well. Neither guy was at the most competitive weight but its still ironman so obviously the competition is still stiff. Andrew Alton may have pinned his way through back in 2009 as well.

So much for Braeden "Next Kyle Dake" Davis....again.

Blood round at 4 different weights is still very much in play. -
Penn State v Lehigh in Allentown
Truzzcat replied to Wrestleknownothing's topic in College Wrestling
Lehigh's ability to develop good wrestlers into great wrestlers has been super impressive as of late. Rozinksy was probably a top 10ish guy at his weight last year in high school but he took 3 losses in season two to consiglio and once to manville. He also wrestled 144 last year so it seems like their weight room is pretty stellar with guys being able to grow into weight classes. -
Penn State v Lehigh in Allentown
Truzzcat replied to Wrestleknownothing's topic in College Wrestling
I think Barr is extremely coachable. Beard has been quite good against PSU 197's the last few years and it seemed as though the staff told Barr how to wrestle him and he executed that perfectly. I mentioned before how he was able to make the adjustments in a month to beat Sinclair and potentially did the same in less time to beat cochran. I think if he has a blueprint to follow hes going to be a hard out for anyone. I'm not yet ready to say he can go with Buchannen and verdict is out still on where AJ is at but I went from thinking he would have a hard time AA'ing to putting him high on the podium in a few weeks and this may not be his optimal weight. -
Blaze and v rob defaults may have cooked me

Ironman takeaways so far: I said we are not going to realize how good Seth mendoza is until hes not hitting Jax/Luke every tournament and I stand by that kids absolutely nails and looks like he could end up as a 141/149 in college. The Bachmann brothers just win and it never looks especially pretty but they always get it done. They are both super young but I do think their style as of now will not translate super well in college but they have a ton of time to figure it out. Blaze is very much ok with taking what someone gives him I anticipate he beats Mendoza by a takedown or two and people discuss him vs Jax again which very much would be a match but I think Blaze very much has that Dake style where he just gets it done and while the score is close the match never really is. Asher Cunningham will be the third best recruit of the 2025 class for PSU behind duke and Blaze Jax has added some leg attacks which I really think is all he needed to do. The times hes lost its felt like his opponents took away that elbow control and he struggled to generate his own offense then. I think Stanton vs Bassett could be a match early before pace becomes a factor.
