I wish him a speedy recovery I cannot imagine how his family must be feeling having already lost a child, prayers for Tom and his family. -
2024 Olympics last chance qualifier
Truzzcat replied to CHROMEBIRD's topic in International Wrestling
I have terrible memories of JO at the LCQ (hes my favorite wrestler of all time being a PA guy) He was probably wrestling the best he has in his life and just happened to run into the guy who would win worlds later that year and was already a 2x world medalist, this tournament can be an absolute beast. Pyles mentioned on FRl what is beneficial is the new true 5th addition as well as 3 spots being available it makes this tournament slightly less full of monsters as well as allowing you to wrestle back. As long as he can win his first match off the scale, I think he will get better as the day goes on, he looked considerably better in the second match against Lee and very strong against Jesse. -

Similar situation to Seabass to me. Likely never can win enough in a row to make a team here but can potentially draw his way into a medal (he's considerably better at free than folk). -
does anyone in the portal have PA ties?

The classes of 2017 and 2018 were all timers but I think th3 2024,2025,2026 classes may end up being as good if not better.

I would venture to guess if real woods got 300k to wrestle for 2 seasons spencer got close to a million for signing with the Hawkeye wrestling club and I'm sure his Rudis deal is very lucrative as well. For our sport I think he's living pretty comfortably.

I agree, I just wanted to add I was really impressed with spencer's cardio at trials. He seemed to be able to go all 6 and was actually nose breathing during the break in most of his matches including against Thomas so that is good to see. Aside from Aman and the Iranian rep I would be most concerned with Mongolia for spencer but his trials performance leaves me extremely confident. -
PD3 imposes his own limiting factors which allows him to use "what if's" in any argument thus he is never wrong and that is what makes PD3 so great.

If brands has eligibility left he will be red shirting and if he wants to be a 184 I think Red shirting is probably a good thing for him. There's a fine line between confidence and delusion

Dreshaun ross still being cadet eligible is hard for my brain to understand that kids enormous. Ive not gotten to see a ton of Elijah D but Ross gave Sinclair two relatively close bouts last year so he seems like a rather decided favorite. I feel quite good about our chances of medaling at 55,60 (although 60 is always super tough and Rayney can be a bit volatile but hes been there in greco so that helps), Im a big fan of Wolbert but 65 seems a tad big for him so not sure about there. 71 I think Miller if his knee is good to go is absolute nails and I'm very high on James as well they actually remind me a lot of each other both in build and style. Im only really familiar with Snyder at 80 and hes good but I don't know that hes world level good. Ross feels like a lock to medal and dare I say gold. Mocco looked really good at the journeyman and Fargo I just pray he does not his the Macarena again.

Just saw an Interview that said Blaze has not given up a takedown in his high school career and it made me think back to the last takedown Id seen him give up aside from the one against Suriano. I believe the last takedown he gave up was super 32 2022 against Forrest in the wrestle backs. So since then hes gone through ironman ,Ohio states, u17 trials, cadet worlds, Ironman once again, Ohio states once again and then olympic team trials and has surrendered one takedown. Edit palmer and forrest both took him down once at clarion open.

Kenny is an absolute stud he showed out against Castillo being undersized. Universities should really put an investment in the Rayney bros not super often you get a 2 for 1 package of that caliber the Altons are the last instance of that I can recall on their level.
-
I know he was supposed to go to the LCQ at 57kg but did not end up going I don't know if he could not make the weight. I feel like he could potentially beat out Peterson, Im not entirely sure how big of an upgrade that is to make it worth sitting a guy with a lot of experience who could potentially AA but I think thats a clearer path for him than 141.
-
lmao it was not loading and it triple posted my apologies

Gibson may be 5'2 with shoes on I think he would be drastically undersized at 141 I'm not sure he beats Oliveri

I saw someone mention that AB trains A LOT with Cael and who better to train with to prepare for DT than the guy who he molded his style from. You couple that with AB being phenomenal and potentially age catching up to DT a tad and I think that could explain what we saw. Im still mixed on how I feel I believe beyond a shadow of a doubt if you can beat DT in two that you can win olympic gold however we know DT dominates against the field and we saw Aaron pushed to the brink by Zahid so he may not have as good of a chance against the field as DT although thats also assuming DT has not lost a step which is hard to say for sure.

2024 Olympics last chance qualifier

I think Aman Aman is the biggest threat at 57 and Ochir at 65 Ochir has a 4-1 win over Mckenna and a 10-3 win over Yianni the same year Yianni took silver as well as two very close losses to Amouzad. Zain can certainly beat him but probably not someone he wants to see shortly off the scale. -
A route that has produced a true freshman second a third with Haines and Kasak. Zack Ryder yet to be seen.
-
you should sweet talk him into throwing his name in the hat for none olympic trials at 70kg if hes qualified I think he can go with those guys depending of course on how he does at u20's I look at his cadet trials in 22 as an outlier.

Blaze hit list off the top of my head #2 Jax forrest - Clarion Open #2 Jax forrest - OTT #1 Luke Lilledahl- WTT wrestle back #1 Luke Lilledahl- Ironman finals #1 Anthony knox x2- U17 finals #3 leo Deluca- Ironman 3/4 #3 Ledo deluca- Ironman semi Matt ramos- Clarion open semi Nico Megaludis- WTT wrestle back I am not super familiar with Locketts results I know he won ironman and took third there and won super 32 but I feel like the two wins the fields were not as loaded. The tech over Meyer is nuts though and that avenged a loss he had at whos 1.

I think It would be very difficult to rebreak the record with this team. Id have them winning 165,197,285 and a shot to win 125,141(I think Alirez and Jesse may separate a bit though), 149,174 (I favor KOT by a decent margin). While I think this lineup has crazy upside similarly to this year I think there's a world where MM and Kerk are the only champs if Keck goes 197 I think he can go with Carter. Im not sure where SVN is at post injury and to go up a weight when I didn't think he was that big at 149 could pose issues. Lilledahl has as good of a chance as 8-10 other guys to win 125. Not sure what to expect from Barr I'm sure he does well and I think nagao is a low AA likely at best. They will win the natty again with ease just not sure if 172 is likely.
-
all the more reason for blaze to go to Ohio state like Stieber
-
Just making this since we have a junior open thread and also to ask @Husker_Du if he thinks Rayney is actually going to make 121.
-
I think that's the plan, he will likely take some weird losses but he's definitely going to upset some people along the way.
